Question about Points

We're new to DVC (just took our first trip one week ago) and we're looking ahead to the future.

This might be a silly question, but here it is: What happens if you're 1, 2, or 10 points shy of a night in a DVC establishment? Can you "pay" for that point or are you just out of luck?

You can borrow points from your following use year, or you can try to rent some points from a fellow DVC member. You cannot rent points from Disney, nor can you pay cash to 'make-up' the difference.

You have several options, but can NOT pay cash to Disney to get a few points:
1) You can BORROW from the next use year.
2) On this site there is a rent/trade board, where you can BUY the needed points from another menber.
3) You can pay cash to DVC for the entire night, if available and members get a 25% discount on cash ressie (if available)
