Hi, although we've been in the states many times, I always worry about what documentation I should bring for customs. This is the first time our ds will be crossing the boarder. I plan on bringing;
(1) all birth certificates
(2) marriage licence
(3) kids immunization cards0
(4) OHIP cards
Is that all?

The only thing we were asked for going through customs was our birth certificates.Coming back into Canada,we needed our birth certificates and DH had to show his drivers licence and I showed my health card(double checking our names).I really dont think that you are going to need your marriage licence or the kids immunization records.They will be just more things to keep track of.

If you have a CDN passport it is even better. It has your picture and all necessary info. You can have your children added to your passports for no extra cost. That way you just have to worry about 2 passports instead of documentation for 4!

Hi Sandra! We used the same documents that Kelly used and had absolutely no problem whatsover. I used to use a passport but when it expired and I had to get the new Health Card with photo on it (I don't drive) I asked my TA and she said that was okay to use and no problem! Hope this helps you out. Have a great time!! :D

Well, hello again Sandra! I would definitely recommend that you take your driver's licences with you, even if you're not planning to drive. One year when we were using the special Canadian passes at WDW they asked to see ours because they wanted photo ID with proof of address.

Cheers,

SandraC - I just wanted to add that I'm impressed that you know where your marriage licence is! :) I'm not sure that I could put my hands on mine too readily, but the other stuff is always with me in my purse.

This only happened to us once, at Pearson International 3 or 4 years ago. On our return to Canada, the Immigration Officer wanted to see our marriage license after we had produced our birth certificates. We can only speculate that it's because my DW retained her maiden name when we married and the officer wanted to ensure that we weren't trying to spirit the kids away (or smuggle DW into the country <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">). Anyway, we were glad we had it. We've got the wallet sized ones which we carry with everyone's birth certificates.

I thought about bringing my marriage licence because after ten years old marriage my driver's licence is STILL under my maiden name. The DOT in my area tells my that I must go to the airport DOT to change my name ~ it's been 10 years ~ I've been too busy to drive 15 minutes! LOL! I also have an official 'change of name' card from the govt. I got all my documentation in the small wallet size format as well as the GIANT papers.
THANKS!
