What do you think of the rebel auto modes?
Is it too bulky?
Picture color? Clear? Correct?

Found a good deal on a rebel and was thinking of taking the plunge.
As most of you know I got the D70 for xmas and returned it due to greyish look on pics and not good quality on auto modes, even Nikon themselves agreed their auto modes aren't the best. Hmmmmm.....

Saw the post on the Kodak easy share cameras.....seems you all like yours so I may look into that too.

This is my Mothers Day gift.....and I guess last years xmas too:)

I just got my Digital Rebel XT. I love it! No matter which mode I shoot in the pictures are clear and sharp. I first looked into the original DRebel, but DH told me to spend the extra on the newer model so I wouldn't be looking to upgrade in 6 months. :rolleyes1 I would recommend it highly!

www.bhphotovideo.com ... I buy most of my cameras, etc. here ... I believe you have 14 days to return product you don't like ... but double check their return policy ... I've never returned a camera ... but I have returned a lens and a camera case and was happy with their return policy on those items.

The old rebel has a very long lag time. The XT is amazingly fast. It actually shoots faster than my film SLR. Every pic I have seen from the XT has been fantastic.

I thought the rebel was supposed to be fast. I will have to check that out better when I go to the store. Hubby was leaning towards the XT and Cord Camera does have a 14 day trial period. I was grateful for this when we bought the Nikon D70 this xmas and I hated the color quality of pics. Very dull.....so sad because it was as fast as lightning.

Which lens do you prefer....

You must've had a dud D70 because I have *never* had color issues and neither have the other photogs I know that have them. Yikes! The D70 is much faster than the dRebel...I don't know about the XT, but I think the XT's speed is comparable to the D70.

I use my kit lens and a 50 mm f1/8 the most. Lenses are pretty dependent upon what you want to shoot and how, so it's hard to answer for someone else.

I agree! We have a D70, & so do several members of our local camera club. We got some great photos at WDW last month. I know my husband used different Nikon lenses & flashes that we already own.

GoofyMom/Pop, I am sorry the D70 you had didn't work well. Good luck with your camera decisions!

I have the DRebel XT...and love it...no color issues, very fast...and not bulky at all...I had the D Rebel...but decided to upgrade to the XT...but even with that one..I didn't have any color issues or much lag time.

You know what I even asked them if I could have gotten a bum camera and they wouldn't even give me the chance of trying a different one. Loved how it handled but the color was so bad....very greyish, like a film over the pics.

thanks for the info everyone..

off to shop..:)
