To all you Vistana experts:
Thanks for all your help so far.
At DVC early check in seems to be important for getting requests. At Vistana is there any benefit to checking in early?
We are planning on a late afternoon/early evening arrival on Xmas eve. Would it be better to wait till early Xmas morning (Sunday)? If that's available. I guess Xmas may be a special situation with not many people leaving that day.
AND
I just called to check on the ALLEAR rate plan. They have a 2BR but said there are only 2 twin beds in the second bedroom. Are there really such rooms there?? They said they reserve the suites with 2 dbl beds for members.

We stayed on the AllEars plan in early April and had a 2 bedroom in te Lakes section. 2nd bedroom did have 2 double beds and master had a queen.
Can't tell you about the early check-in, but I would encourage you to confirm your reservation through Diamond Lane. It meant a line of 2 compared to a line of 8-9 in the regular check-in lanes. You can ask for special conditions during your online registration, but we didn't get any of our conditions met.
Good luck

We have been given our choice of villa when we check in early and actually was able to get into the room early on 2 visits (out of 11). Def use the Diamond Lane as well. Christmas week will be very busy and it will be nice to get into the shorter DL upon arrival.

The 2 twin beds are only in the oldest Courts and Falls sections. I think it might be difficult to get one of the newer sections during such a prime time week. Good luck.

We checked in early, (had also registered with Diamond Lane), and I think that it may have helped. We were also allowed into our unit right away! I think we were very lucky, as we were given an excellent unit and location.
I am assuming that you could schedule your arrival for either day.... It occurs to me that Christmas Eve would be a VERY BUSY travel day, while Christmas day would be very slow. I see that Christmas Day falls on a Sunday... This would normally mean that you would not get Courts, as it is entirely a Saturday Check-in.
Really, it is anyones guess how it would work out for you either day. At Christmas, the whole place will probably be entirely booked! But I think the better odds for you would be on the early Sunday Check-in???? I think these are color coded in Red on the Vistana Map.
We enjoyed our recent stay at Vistana!

Sunday check-in is marked green on the Vistana map. The OP would still run the risk of getting the Falls on Sunday. So, either way, they would have a chance of getting Courts (Sat) or Falls (Sun). These are the two oldest sections. Wishing On A Star might be right about Sat being a little busier ? Since the OP said they couldn't arrive until later on Sat, coming in early on Sunday might be the way to go.

I have a question for the Vistana expert! Do they ever deviate from the color coded checkin on Fri,Sat,Sun checkins? (I know checking in on other days could get you anything.) I was pretty confident with a Fri checkin for weeklong stay, I wouldn't get the Courts or Falls just because they have no red coloring on the map. But I am coming on a holiday weekend (Mem day) so I wondered if they might fill save some of the red Fri condos for owners showing up on Sat and give me something available in Courts or Falls just because they have vacancies. Any thoughts? I'm hoping they are strict with those colors. My guess is that I will get the Spas looking at colors. Thanks.

I have never seen it happen with us----but as owners they may stick more closely to the color coding. As a rental guest, I'm thinking they use whatever inventory they have available after the owners get their digs. So, I could see this happening, just not sure it's that regular of an occurence. Good luck to you---hope you get the Spas (or newer) and have a great Memorial Day week......
