Does anyone know a good company to rent a house for a few days near WDW? I'm not sure where to ask this question. I hope it's ok that i asked here.

This is the perfect place to ask! If you do a search you can find several posts on the same question.
Check here (http://www.1stfororlando.com/Location-map.htm) for a map of areas.
We are renting a house in 2006 for our next trip. Most of the recommendations are for areas west of Disney World. For example Emerald Island, Formosa Gardens, Indian Creek, etc. The house we will be renting is in Rolling Hills.
You can check out houses for rent by owners at vrbo.com (http://www.vrbo.com) . If you go to FL, Central FL, then Kissimmee you can search by neighborhood.

vrbo.com is a good one. Make sure whoever you rent from is reputable. We rented on year from a very sketchy company and luckily through advise on this board cancelled, got our money back from the credit card company, and found a home we love and are staying at for the 3rd. time next Christmas in Windsor Palms. Good luck and do not be afraid to ask! :sunny:

Direct from owners is the only way we'll rent, and these websites share a forum, and the responses and participation from owners is wonderful:)
Have fun searching!!

There are, unfortunately, occasionally some pitfalls involved in renting a vacation home and personal recommendation is often the best way to be fairly sure. Two companies I know well and will certainly vouch for are Florida Leisure and Alexander Holiday Homes (www.floridasunshine.com). I would also be inclined to check them out with the Central Florida property Managers Association ( http://www.altrue.net/site/cfpma/ ). Make sure you can get a good look at a property, prefereably with a video tour online, before you make your choice.

Trouble with the cfpma is that not all the comapnies are registered with them as they don't have to be- so just because a company isn't on their list it doesn't make it a bad one .As Simon says personal recommendation is good and renting direct is one way to get to know the home you rent inside out who knows it better then the owner?

The second site takes you to the house that we are renting May 14-21. So far we are happy with the owner and the house looks awesome. One thing to confirm when renting a house is which house you are actually getting. Many owners and rental companies offer several houses, and the one you contract to rent may not be the one you have actually viewed on their web site. We like the fact that the house we are renting is the only house that the owner rents, therefore we are guaranteed to get the house we have looked at.
We have stayed on-site for the past 10 years, and this is our first time renting a house off-site as well. Good luck with your search. :earsboy:
