What exactly is this? Is there an additional fee? How long does it take? If you are going, when are you fitting it in? Does anyone have more info?
Thanks!

The Osborne lights is this HUGE display of Christmas lights that pretty much takes over New York Street and part of the back lot at MGM. Generally, depending on crowds, you can get through them in 30-60 minutes. Snow flies, of course there is Christmas music, and they give you these cool glasses that turn the lights into angels or snowflakes when you put them on. There is no extra charge.

Hadn't really thought about the lights as of yet, but maybe after the Fantasmic dessert party before the Karaoke meet......

If my feet can hold out, my group will be doing the lights. If my feet will not be up to them, then I may have to rent a wheelchair as I wouldn't want to miss the lights.

I'm thinking this may have to wait until after the convention. I added a few days to my trip, so this may be something to add at the end. It doesn't seem like there are any open evenings to fit this in. I thought about doing it when Steve suggested, but I'm not sure that MGM will still be open after Fantasmic is over. I'll have to see what parks hours are during that time, first. Decisions, decisions!

Believe it or not, MGM stays open for about an hour after Fantasmic so people can go through the lights at Christmastime. Just the lights and the shops, however.

Okay, so Friday there is the tea in the afternoon, then the fantasmic dessert party, the osborne lights, and then karaoke. I hope I don't have anything early Saturday! (well, maybe not today, but you never know about tomorrow!)

Thanks for the info. I just knew someone here would know (Thanks Steve):D

Definitely doing Osborne Lights, but plan (version 8) on doing them before
DIS Con starts!

Anyone know what time it gets dark in Florida at that time of year??
Any "educated guesses" on how late the Studios will be open then? (I'm guessing
7 or 8 pm)

Thanks,
Corinne

The Osborne lights are great. Some people like to get ther before the opening at dusk to see all the lights turn on(very crowded). Others like to wait for the crowd to thin out.

Here's some pictures and more info:

I'll be there!

It will be dark by 6:00. Last year MGM closed at 7:00 on weekdays.

I looked at my itinerary (yet again) and maybe I'll be able to fit in the lights between Fantasmic and the Karaoke party. Depends on how I feel that night. I'm beginning to think I should schedule my sleep times as well.......

It is very, very crowded if you go right when they turn on the lights. I was sure I wanted to be there for the start. But, it was soooo crowded, we ended up going through a second time. The second time was so much better. We were able to see everything and could walk at the pace we wanted to walk. If you go in the beginning, you're basically moving as a huge crowd. It was hard to take pictures because someone was always in the way. We missed alot that way. I don't think I'll do that again.
Steve, if the park does stay open, then maybe it's possible to see the lights after Fantasmic. Then, again, will everyone else at that Fantasmic show have the same idea???
Pumbaa_, LOL! I'm planning on doing the Fantasyland meet at 8:00 the next morning!!!!! :p So, you'll see me with toothpicks holding open my eyes!!!

::shaking my pointer finger at Jody:: Jody! Yes, you have somewhere to be early on Saturday morning.....the Fantasyland meet! And remember, I've already warned against 'hanging DIS'ers' joining our little excursion through Fantasyland...LOL...I guess I better put out a similar warning against 'sleepy heads' as well. ;) ;) ;)

We plan on seeing the Osborne Lights, but since we will be arriving on the 23rd, we will see them before the DIS Con starts.

If ever there was a group that could stump Disney Officials, I'm
pretty sure it would be the DIS Con crew!:D
