We are leaving for WDW in 3 weeks  We were wondering what is the best form of money to take for kids. We thought about Disney $ or gift cards or a visa gift card. They range in age from 3-9 and want something age appropriate and easy to keep track of. :bounce:

My kids are older, but i have always had a policy that my kids buy their own souveniers and I will buy their food. We have given our kids both disney dollars and cash money, starting out each day with at least $10 for coke or popcorn. Each kid gets their own fannie pack to carry it in, allong with a few fruit snacks and crackers(just in case). With the 3-5yo set, I'd probably hold their monies in my purse. But let them decide how to spend it. Just because you think what they picked out is cheap, trinkety, or simply "not worth it" they need to experience of making those spending decisions. And when the money is gone, it's gone. Resist the urge to bail them out. If they spend all their snack money on light-up toys, they drink water.

We really enjoy charging things to our room. So what I usually do is tell the boys how much they have to spend (eg$50) and they can spend it as they like. When they want something we just deduct the amount in our heads. Then tell them OK you have $12 left to spend on what ever they want. BTW they also remind us..I have 12 left Mom!!! I have 1 policy, they must have visited all 4 parks before they purchase anything (we stay 8-10days) so that they can look EVERYTHING over.

I agree with the others, but just wanted to add that you cannot use Disney store gift cards at Disney World. We found this out after my sister bought them for my kids. You can buy Disney money for the Giftcards before you go,thats what we did.
