I went there at the start of summer and I thought the park was very interesting and nostalgic despite all the negative criticism on unofficial websites. Upon arriving at the gate nearly forty minutes before the scheduled opening time, they allowed us to enter the park and ride Soarin' Over California. I rate it as one of the top 10 most original Disney rides. Then we were held in Concord Flats until the park officially opened which was when we got fastpass tickets for Grizzly River Run (another I would rate in the top 10). One ride California Screamin' my family rode four times (another I would rate in the top 10). There is room for improvement and room for additions as Who Wants to be a Millionaire opens soon, Disney's Electrical Parade has started running, more entertainment can be found in the park, a Illuminations type lagoon show opens this winter, and Paul Pressler, a top Disney executive, says that we can expect 2 or 3 major attractions opening in the next four years. Also, you can't forget the very interesting Animation building.

I'm interested in hearing some people's view of DCA too b/c I'll be going there next year!! Glad to hear it isn't as bad as some people describe it to be!

Any other thoughts?

I have been twice since it opened, and I didn't think it was as bad as everyone said it is either! I LOVE Soarin' Over California, and I really wanna try California Screamin', except each time I went it was broken down the whole day! I have such bad luck! lol. The only thing is, there isn't as much to do obviously as Disneyland, and I think that is why people complained about the admission. With the current discount for Southern CA residents (kids get in free!) it makes it worth it. And I think eventually, when more E and D type ticket attractions are added, it will be even better.

Right now though, it is still a fun park to go to, because there is enough to keep you busy all day when it is crowded, but during the off season, when I went, I had gone on and seen everything by 6:30! And I didn't even get there until 11:30, so it wasn't really enough to keep me busy. But, still, it is fun. (Just not as good as Disneyland!!!) :)

If anyone has any more questions lemme know! :)

Also, I hear Tower of Terror (part hotel, part ride) may be coming soon to California Adventure.

I haven't gone but I'd like to. We were thinking about going for christmas, but we got GREAT rates for the Dolphin so we're going to Disney World instead...what a sacrifice! ;)

does anyone know how this park is related to disney? i was shocked when i heard about it at first cause it doesn't seem like it fits in with all the other parks. Maybe it's just me but it just doesn't seem like a disney park.

So littlemermaid, what is your definition of a "Disney park"?

OMG i sooo love California Adventure!!! Soarin' Over California is def. one of the best rides I've ever been on... it was right down to every little detail.... when you fly over the orange trees, it smells like oranges... and when you fly over the pine trees it smells like pine. I did the single rider line, though, so I didn't get to see my little brother's face, but my mom said he loved it. my sister skipped it because in the guidebook thing, it says the floor drops out from underneath you and there is rapid movement or something but it wasnt like that at all. Then California Screamin' is another awesome ride there... my mom still doesn't believe i went on it, but one of the CMs at DL said that it wasn't that bad and I would hardly notice the loop... so I went on it and it was so great... they play this carnival music in these speakers in your ears... and the only really bad part is where your like on this bridge thing and you're practically in the lagoon in the middle of the park and everybody can see you... and then out of nowhere you shoot out and up a huge hill... but other than that it wasn't bad.... (i'm not really a roller coaster type of person incase you couldnt tell lol). but the rest of the park is really great too... I totally loved the Grizzly Bear River Run... once again I was in the single rider line, and i was on there with a bunch of 18 year olds that introduced themselves, and they were really nice. And everything else there was sooo great, too!! Some people misunderstand it because it's not just about Disney... it's basically a summary of california but with Disney Magic included...

DCA is really kool. I like it a lot. We went this summer and it was my first trip to Disneyland so we got a room at Paradise Pier over looking Paradise Pier. That is the best thing in the world. The only thing that could possibly beat that is getting upgraded at the Contemporary in September to a room overlooking MK. Anyway, the only problem I saw with DCA was one of the afternoons we were there almost all of the rides were closed. There were three rides open in the whole park. I was sitting in our room looking. Soarin, Mullholland Madness, and Superstar Limo were the only rides open. And this was like 2pm. Anyway, I thought it was kool.

And Littlemermaid- it's kind of like a cross between Epcot's World Showcase and MGM so I guess it depends how you consider those two parks.

I would be happy to help with setting up an itinery for people going to DCA or Disneyland.
