Hey there. We are cuising on the Wonder 10/2 through 10/6 and guess what?!?! I am a Jack's mom too!!!! How old is your Jack? Mine will be just a couple of weeks shy of 8 whe we set sail. :bday: We have a second son who will be 4. My DH's folks will be traveling with us to round out our group.

We are first time Disney cruisers but have been to "The World" several times. My inlaws are quite experienced cuisers but never with Disney.

:wave2: I am very excited! This is our first cruise, too.

FYI - There is another thread for this cruise just a little ahead of this one with a few other families on it.

Hi, Folks!

DS(17 by then) and I will be sailing with you on the 10/2/2005 Wonder! This will be our third DCL cruise, and we are counting the weeks!

If this is your first DCL cruise, you may want to get the Passporter to help with your planning. It contains lots of great information and is a fun read! Also, there are many knowledgeable veteran cruisers on these boards who will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Hi, :flower: lunsusie! This will be our first cruise and I do have soooo many questions! :Pinkbounc I do have a Passporter and am reading and highlighting it every night! My main questions thus far are: (1) which shore excursion to do in the Bahamas, and (2) what do the women wear to dinner? (I have found a lot about mens attire, but very little about womens! ) I would also love any tips or advise you might have! :Pinkbounc We are soooo excited! :Pinkbounc I talk about this continually to anyone that will listen!

Hi, jacksmom!

Sorry for the delay in responding, but I just made it back to this board today.

We have done both the Discover Atlantis tour and the Nassau Historic City tour. If you have never been to Atlantis, you may want to try this tour once, since you would have an opportunity to see this beautiful resort and tour "The Dig" (acquarium).

However, both DS16 and I really enjoyed the Nassau historic tour more. You ride in an airconditioned van (filled to capacity, but plenty of room for everyone) and made several stops along the way to see Fort Fincastle, the Queen's Staircase, and Fort Charlotte. You also have the opportunity to see much of the city, both business, resort and residential areas. This is fun, particularly if this is your first visit to Nassau.

As far as dinner attire, resort casual is in order. Dress however you will be comfortable (other than shorts or swim wear). A sundress, nice jeans, nice capris or slacks and a nice top work great. If you want to dress up a little more, that is OK too.

Hope this helps! Please ask away if you have any more questions and I'll try to help.

All right sailors we are coming up on the 3 month mark.

I am getting pretty excited, soon it will be time to get the kids registered online for the kids club and make Palo/Spa ressies.

Still not sure what to do at Nassua. I pick up my Cruise Passporter today. That should help us decide.

If you are going to WDW before hand when will you be arriving? We will get to MCO late afternoon of 9/28.

Hi everyone, I'm one of those lurker-types :smooth: that you read about on these threads but I can't stand to be quiet anymore cuz our first Disney cruise is coming up on Oct. 2, also! It's my DH, DD14 and myself. It's nice to see that there will be a few other Dis-cruisers there with us. I have my DD posting on the teen boards to see if any other kids her age will be going. Still, it seems like the ship might be pretty empty since the whole world seems to post on these boards and the small bunch of us are the only ones going at that time. Don't we all wish!

3 more months! We are doing the happy banana dance here. Just paid off the cruise this morning! Now it's time to start planning shore excursions!

Hi guys--this is my first time posting, although I've been reading these boards for some time now. This will be our second Disney cruise, both in Hurricane season. Our first was last year's 10/9/2004 7-day Magic. Although it rained on our Castaway Cay day, there was no other rough weather to speak of. I'll be cruising with my DW, DD (10) and DS (7).

We just booked the Thriller power boat excursion for Nassau day. This was DS(17)'s suggestions, and I figured, why not! I haven't found many reviews of this excursion. It looks like it is fairly new for DCL's list of shore excursions.

We will be there too!! My DH, DD(10), DS(8), other DS(will be 16 mos.) and my parents are too excited for words. It is our first Disney cruise and my parents first cruise in over 25 years!!

My parents are doing the Dolphin excursion in Nassau, but the five of us are not planning anything but to walk around the straw market, because the little one has never traveled before. I don't want to risk being on an excursion and him getting upset because he is hot, tired, hungry..... He can be very loud.

My only worry is that I can't get my travel agent to confirm that she has made the final payment with Disney!! She said the agent site was down yesterday, and she would send me an invoice today. So far, nothing. Ugh!!!

Still, I can not wait for October 2!!!

Hi everyone,

We are set to sail October 2nd on Wonder. Great to know there are more of you. Our party consist of my husband Edwin, my 9 year old daughter Melody, my 6 year old daughter Kimberly and me. This will be our 5th cruise and of course once you start you never stop. It will be great to be able to chat with you and get to know you before we set sail. I have done it in the past and it worked out wonderful. I cried the last night saying good bye. This is also a great way to start the vacation early and nobody can beat that!!! :thewave:

I have not even started the planning yet. I have been preocupied with my trip to Jamaica :sunny: for a friend's wedding in November. It has taken forever to decide on a villa and everything else. Once this is done, I will finaly be able to concentrate on our Wonder Cruise. I am not sure where we are going to stay the night before yet :confused3 The Radisson does sound tempting. I would like to stay as close as possible. When we come back from the cruise we'll stay at BC (for the first time). That will be great. Back in May we stayed at BWV and had a wonderful time.

We had no problem in getting Palo reservations, however I think the issue is that the DCL server gets a little overheated during peak times and it causes some hang ups. That's what the ressie person told me on the phone. Keep trying!

O.K. let's spin off of the Ebert and Roeper angle...Maybe "Mickey's Thumbs Up Cruise" with Mickey gloves (like the thumbs up or thumbs down on their reviews) or perhaps a takeoff of the Cannes Film Festival and something in French, like "DCL Ebert et croisičre 2005 de Roeper".

Alright, alright. As long as we're brainstorming, I'll throw out some ideas as long as you don't laugh.

Keeping in the Disney theme, a trip is a journey, so how about Journey into Imagination?

Or to follow with the film theme, how about Journey into Film-agination?

Or the Wonder-ful World of Disney Cruise?

Feel free to work off any of those or disregard them altogether!!

I just read on the main board that the Moon Hut is becoming a Mexican eatery. As much as I like Mexican food it makes me sad that such a landmark is gone from Cocoa Beach...I remember seeing it in 1971 on my first trip to Cocoa Beach. All the "original" astronauts ate there regularly as did several presidents. Fortunately we got to eat there a couple of years ago prior to our first DCL cruise. Oh well...there's still Grilles for breakfast!

ebmouse
08-20-2005, 09:39 AM
It is sad when things change. We never got to eat there but the name is enough to spark interest to have tried it. What was it like? What is Grilles that a lot of you refer to? Is it worth leaving WDW earlier to try breakfast before the cruise? Came up w/ another cruise name while sitting here:Our Wonder-ful fix, 10/2-6.

We have eaten there many times for dinner and once for breakfast. The food is always great!

At breakfast it was fun to see the Disney ship waiting for us (mostly you can see the stacks firing up) but it built anticipation. :Pinkbounc :bounce: Of course, then when you board, you can eat light and go straight to the Mickey pool if you have your swimsuits on under your clothes or packed in your carry-on bag.

We like to go for dinner the evening we get off the cruise and watch 'our ship' sail out to sea. :wave2: Get there a little early. Lots of the locals show up to eat and watch the ships, too.

If you get there early enough for dinner, you can get a table outside on the deck/dock for an un-obstructed view...of course you get the un-obstucted "fresh" seafood smell to to go with it! :rotfl2:

joeanne,
As far as planning goes, once you are "paid in full", you can book shore excursions, dinner at Palo if you wish, and other services on the ship, online. You don't have to, but it is available if you would like to book online. If you want to take a shore excursion at Nassau or Castaway Cay, you at least want to be prepared and know which one you want when you get on the ship. You will want to make these reservations as soon as you get on the ship so that you have a chance to get it before they sell out. The boat not being full is a good thing. That means there is a chance that some folks might get a catagory or 2 upgrade :teeth:

Karen, Grills isn't far from the Radisson, but it would be quite a hike to walk. How many people in your group? Magic should be there. Not sure if they will leave that night or what time if they do. there will be 10 of us going on this cruise together so i guess i'll need to decide if we are going to rent a car, or go with a van service. i wonder(haha) if *********** has raised their rates, or if they will be able to honor the old price?

:earseek: I thought we might be able to offer a ride, but we can't get that many people in the Suburban. Really though, if you guys stay at the Radisson, we'll get you to Grills if we have to make a couple of trips. :teeth:

omgosh, that is so nice of you! i would like to go, but its really not all that big of a deal. as long as i get to meet you guys while we're on the cruise i'll be happy. :)
well i finally went ahead and called ***********, thought i better go ahead and book it while the price was only 270.00. still alot less than disney transfers.
my daughters friend(16) ask if she could go last night, her dad said ok with him if i can still get her on. i know she would have a better time with someone she knows, but, i don't know if its a good idea or not. guess i'll see what dcl says before i get to worked up about it.

It's no problem really.. ..Ok, lets decide on the door magnets. Here is the "short list". They were picked primarily for there ease of incorporating into the door magnet graphic. I think I am going to use "Mickey's Thumbs Up Cruise" and "Wonder-ful World of Disney Cruise". Again I say, we don't have to pick as a group. Just tell me which one you want on your magnet and I will print you one. Here they are:

Journey into Imagination
Mickey's Thumbs Up Cruise
Packed With Wonder
Wonder-ful World of Disney Cruise
Wonderfest

Get excited ya'll

Good Sunday morning! 4 weeks away from today...yipeeee!!! All great names to choose from. I like the "thumbs up" one because it sets apart the cruise as something special that no one else could have ( at least until next year!). I'd like to send my thoughts and prayers to any and all who have been touched by Katrina.

Hey, BigRed1!

We'll take a Thumbs Up Cruise sign!

My kids have also been working on some tattoos for the kids on the cruise. Could I get a count on how many we will need to make? I'd love for the kids to meet at the terminal and tattoo themselves! :grouphug:

Please respond or pm me with your children's names so we can personalize them!!! :flower:

:wave2: Welcome southernbelle413. Do you or your family know anyone that works at Hoover Paint an Wallcoverings? I understand someone that works at Hoover in Murfreesboro is also going on this cruise.

It appears that "Mickey's Thumbs Up Cruise" is the choice for the magnets, so unless someone specifically request something different, that is what will be on the door magnets!!

Done! The next question will be, how do I distribute the magnets?? :confused3 If I don't run into anyone at the Port or at the Radisson or Grills, I can put them on your stateroom door if you would trust me with your stateroom number. On the Cruisetoberfest III thread we had a "list" of everyone's info that was updated regularly and e-mailed to everyone on the list. I don't think we have time to do that now though. Any suggestions??

I have been so busy that I almost forgot to celebrate the pre-cruise planning celebration you guys have here. :hourglass I am happy to join the party now. I would love to have a magnet if you still have a few available. I was thinking about staying at the Raddison but decided on Beach Club for the night. We will drive down this time :worried: (Hope the gas prices will go down a bit ...$3.29 a gallon around this parts...I don't even want to think what would be like on our way down) so we will have a car. I will talk to DH to see if we can make it. If not are we meeting while onboard? :confused3

:scratchin What if we wore something to identify us as members of this particular board the first day (sorry if someone had mentioned it before...I have not had the chance to read all the replys yet  ). Last October we took a cruise and we all wore blue ribbons it was great!!! Everytime you saw someone with the blue ribbon you introduced yourself we made a lot of new friends and once onboard we all recognize each other. By the time we left the cruise some of use were :sad1: happy to have made wonderful friends and lots of great memories together. The ribbons weren't a big deal, happy, festive, some big, some small, most homemade ribbons. Just an idea for the few that might not get the chance to get together before the cruise at the Raddison. Let me know what you think. I am sure we will have a great time with or without them. I might wear a shirt saying HELLO... IT'S ME :wave2: I just don't want to confuse anyone :sad2:

lime green sounds like fun...any other color ideas? :grouphug: What about a multicolor :jester: one... that way it will go with whatever we have on. :cutie: Red or Orange would also be nice colors to wear this month. So far we have:
lime green ::yes::
multicolor :jester:
red
and orange :sunny:

what do you think?

To meet onboard: Maybe we can have a quick meet and mingle party a few minutes after we leave the port of Port Canaveral. That way we can have all 4 days on the cruise to get to know each other better. I was thinking :headache: of the following places for us to get together: Cove Cafe, Pinocchio's Pizzeria by Goofys pool, or the Overlook. All these places are on deck 9 near Palo and the Spa for those of us that would like to make reservations there (first things first :cloud9: ). I think is also a great idea to be on deck 9 to celebrate the begining of our journey while saying goodbye to the people  left on the port. It might be :crowded: but if we wear the color ribbons or anything else that could identify us it will be easy to spot our crew. Any suggestions are welcome :listen: and it will be good to decide on the exact time to meet too.

I just had a crazy thought. :rolleyes1 Are you sitting down? I had my DH sit down before I told him.

What about ordering some custom silicon bracelets? I found a place that will do an order of multiples of 20 (20 being the minimum) for about $3.00 a bracelet including shipping, to have the phrase "Mickey's Thumbs Up Cruise" put on the bracelet. I looked at the colors and they do have a lime green :disrocks:.
The first price break would be at 140, the price would go down to $2.32 each, I don't know if we can get that many folks who want them...I am in for 6.

The site is:
WWW ?dot? reminderband <dot> c o m

Yeah, they are a little pricey compared to ones that you buy at the gas station but I think that they are pretty unique. If we want to order 10K , I found a place that will do them for 20 cents a piece :rotfl:

Looks like if I order them early in the week, I can get them back before I leave for WDW.

What do 'ya think? Am I crazy....don't worry, I won't be offended if it turns out I am. :teeth:

No, I am strictly a cash or Pina Colada kinda gal. :p

For ease of use, I figured it would be a c.o.d. (or p.c. o.d.)

Just one size right now, if we get a whole bunch of orders (I would guess 50+ to get the ratios), we can probably get some in a smaller kids size. We would just have to order them in multiples of 20, same as the adults.

I will need 4 (2 adults and 2 kids if you get enough orders). Let us know how do you want us to pay for them. I like the pina colada way :drinking1

I am still waiting on a meeting place and exact time from everyone. So far I got 1 vote for Cove Cafe. ;)

Hello all. Just found this thread and will be on the Oct. 2-6 cruise also. I'm traveling with my husband and little princess who is 21 months old now. This is our first cruise. My father in-law has planned this as a surprise for my mother in-law for their 40th anniversary, which is on Oct. 2nd. We will be traveling with my in-laws and my husband's sister, her husband and two boys, ages 2 & almost 5.

We are staying at BWV for the 4 nights before the cruise and will be surprising my mother in-law on our first day at Chef Mickey's for breakfast. She has no idea any of us will be there and doesn't know about the cruise. It should be a huge surprise for her.

Hello everyone! We have been lurking on these boards for awhile now, this is our very first post. Well, the way I see it there are a few ways:

1. Our plan is to be one of the first people on the ship (I think the car service picks us up from our hotel at 10:00 a.m., so I guess we will be at the port 60 - 70 minutes later) and we will promptly be going to Mickey pool. :earsboy:

2. I will have been with my MIL for 5 days straight at that point, so I should be recognizable by my distressed face :earseek:

3. My DSs will have been in a high stimulus environment for five days playing their parents against their grandparents, I will be the one trying to keep some order in my family :rotfl:

4. I will have an armful of lime green silicon bracelets on.........

We will be at Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL for dinner for the final birthday :cake: celebration for my DS who turned four in August!! Then to GF to watch Wishes.

Not doing the doc's dance yet around here :worried:

Just a reminder,

The bracelets are not only for the kids. We thought of them as a tool to find eachother on the day.

::yes:: + :hyper2: = :scared: and :crazy2: ...

... so if you don't want any confusions :tilt: wear the bracelet, at least for the first day. After that we won't forget you, no matter how many :drinking1 we have. Unless you don't want to be recognized :rolleyes2 and in that case we will find you anyway :magnify: to give you a :grouphug:

1. Welcome jenschaef1! I have a 14-soon-to-be 15 daughter going on this cruise. Have your daughters checked out the teen board to meet others? 2.melkimom, We are at the BC also on 9/30 & 10/1. No idea which area yet.
3.kehouse, congratulations on the docs! I've been hoping to see mine this week, also. Keep that mail truck moving north!
4. spectrum-turbo, Final count for us is 3-1 adult & 2 kids. I'm willing to pay whatever extra to get the kid ones if that's possible ( small-wristed adult here). If not, regular is fine. Again, thanks for doing this.

Well, the way I see it there are a few ways:..........If it's not me you were referring to please disregard this post :goodvibes
Stacy, you will be EASY to find!! :crazy2: :rotfl2: I was talking to Buckeye 218 ;) If they don't have any green bracelets, how will we know them? :confused3
BTW, I think if you order tomorrow, we should get some extras just in case some others join us. Add 8 more for me, (10 total) and if nobody claims them between now and then, I will pay for them.

Welcome disnic and jenschaef1 !!!!!!! :wave2: I thought I was about finished making door magnets. I have created them and will print them later tonight! Send spectrum-turbo an order for green bracelets quickly!!! She is ordering tomorrow.
Now this party is getting warmed up!!!! Come on out lurkers, :rolleyes1 its time to get going!! :bounce: We need to know how many bracelets to get.

Spectrum-Turbo: 4Adults 2Kids
1971Visitor: 4Adults 2Kids
BigRed1: 2Adults
ebmouse: 1 Adult 2Kids
Buckeye218: 2Kids
lunsusie: 2Adults
kehouse: 3Kids
disnic: 2Adults 2Kids
Totals: 15Adults 13Kids

I am going to order 20 of each, unless someone thinks that I should get 40 adults bracelets. I've got to order in multiples of 20. BidRed1, I have not taken into account your increased order since that would put us at 23 and then I would HAVE to order 40 .
I need some opinions quick. I was talking to my DH about the bracelets. I told him that they were going to be lime green & before I could give him an explanation why, he started asking (read complaining) why they are not glow in the dark. Well, my DS heard this and I might have a mutiny on my hands. pirate: How about ordering just the kids ones in glow-in-the-dark?

I have a quick Disney moment to share:
My DS4 was playing with three wheels from some sort of building set today and he came to me and showed me how to make a Mickey :earsboy: out of them. I was so proud :bounce: :bounce:

I guess what it comes down to do you think that we can find close to 40 adults crazy enough to wear a lime green bracelet while on vacation? So far we have 15 willing or semi-willing suspects. Oh, what the heck, I am going to order 40 adult bracelets and 20 for the kids.

How about ordering just the kids ones in glow-in-the-dark?

Count us in for the wrist bands, 6 please, 4 adult and 2 kid size. Nicer than my usual green mickey head paint chip inside my Disney landyard. :cool1:

Ok, informal survey time...where is everyone from??? We always travel in Oct. because my kids have a long 2 week school break. Have met a lot of people on our cruises from Tennessee, Florida, the Carolinas and of course our neighbors from AZ. It seems as if these states have school districts with similar school schedules.

Also, what excursions has everyone signed up for? We are signed up for the catamaran sail and snorkel in Nassau and my DS and DH are signed up for bottom fishing on CC. We also have ressies for Palo brunch and dinner. In the past we have rented a room at Comfort Suites - Paradise Island for access to Atlantis and that was lots of fun.

There is a post by sue ellen on the main board that talks about scheduled changes to the Magic during drydock. In her post she mentions that the stingray area at CC is scheduled to be open at the end of September. I would love to do this as we didn't get to swim with the stingrays last year in Grand Cayman due to the hurricane that hit the Caymans.

We are flying in from Long Island. Yes, I'm one of those! :guilty: I take my DD out of school for Disney but...do I possibly redeem myself because I always plan it so she won't miss a whole week due to NY's days off? :rolleyes1 Was that a flame I felt? :firefight Oh, I hope not. This will be the 6th time and she hasn't had any problems w/ her grades yet. :teacher: Enough about that, though. We have no excursion plans...just seat of the pants and which way the wind blows for us. We will be having dinner at Palo for our 25th anniversary. :lovestruc Really looking forward to that! I was hoping that they might start the stingray encounter for our cruise. That sounds like fun!

ebmouse: No flames from me :firefight , just last night I was asking DD16 if she would mind taking 3 days off for the double shot of CC cruise on Oct 14th next year -the rest of the week will still be Oct. break for us. I couldn't believe it when she told me she would rather not miss those days :confused3 I'm a little disappointed  (and really surprised ) but she will be a senior next year and since it is our last big vacation before she goes off to college I guess I will let her decide. Looking at Sept 30th Eastern as an alternative.

What about Oct. 7, 06? Thats the one we are booked on! Oct. 14, 06 is Cruisetoberfest IV. We wanted to be on that one, because we were on CFIII. But it's 1 week to late for our school break.

Bigred: Yup, thats my other choice (school out that week also) . I really would like to do the Western again (instead of eastern) but being Columbus week it is more expensive (and I need 2 rooms) . Our western last year was Key West, Cozumel, costa Maya and a rainy CC (it poured buckets) -hoping for better weather on CC this year. Costa Maya was fun but I really wanted to see the Stingrays in Grand Cayman. My plan is to get a few drinks in my DH onboard and then bring up the topic :rotfl2: sneeky huh? Ultimatley (since he is paying), I'll let him choose (we are big on snorkeling/diving/deep sea fishing) so that will play a role in what he picks. :cool1:

O.K., count us in for two adult bracelets too, spectrum-turbo---if there are still some unspoken for. You have a point BigRed1. I guess I thought we surely all find each other onboard---it won't be that crowded, will it? :rotfl:

jenschaef1, I think we were on the same cruise with you last year. October 7-day Western with a rainy CC day and detour to Costa Maya mid-week.

We're travelling alllll the way from Longwood, FL, just outside Orlando, so we'll just be driving from home to the port. We also have booked the Catamaran snorkeling trip in Nassau.

No docs here either yet, although if Lunsusie got hers, we can't be far behind since she's in Central FL too.

Ok cruise fans: I have something up my sleeve, :wizard: so please humor me here. :teeth: Maybe it will work out. As I read the posts, I think I have figured out what state everyone is from with the exception of joeanne. If I am wrong, please correct me quickly. :teacher: Jacksmom, N.C. , becobscot, VA. and FL., lunsusie, FL., ck99c02, GA., Buckeye 218, FL., mjejj, GA., melkimmom, PA., keyhouse, KY., 1971Visitor, TN., ebmouse, NY., spectrum-turbo, TX., southernbelle413, TN., Jan3571, N.C., disnic, CO., jenschaef1, AZ. Ok, so it wasn’t to difficult. Joeanne did make mention of having moved from Kentucky, but not where to…The way I see it, we have 3 family’s from Tennessee, 2 from Florida, 1 that claims Virginia and Florida, 2 from North Carolina, 2 from Georgia, and 1 each from Kentucky, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York, and 1 unknown. That’s 11 states in case you are keeping score. Not bad! :earboy2: Anyway, please let me know if any of my deductions are incorrect. BTW, does anyone know jacksmom? I have seen her post on another cruise thread.(Oct.13, 3 night Wonder) I assume they have rebooked on another cruise. Anyone?? :confused3

Buckeye: Yes, I believe you were on our cruise last year. After a couple hours huddled under cover at Cookies :umbrella: (freezing - remember we are from AZ), we finally gave up and went back to the ship to clean up. When we finally made it back on deck after taking showers (1 or 2pm ???), the sun was out. GRRR, we did go back to the beach and played with the hermit crabs and drank pina Coladas, but not the day we had envisioned for CC. I am hoping this year that if the weather looks bad on Tuesday, the capt. will switch the CC day with the sea day, for a 2nd try at CC on Wednesday.

Looks as if we are from all over: I know there are at least 2 other families going from our school district. Just by chance (thought they were pulling my leg when I first found out they were going), DD14 has a good friend who is going with his family and his dad's business partners family. Told them about the DIS but don't know if they are lurking.

No docs here yet, but glad they are starting to show up...I transfered my onboard booking to AllSeas so my docs will be coming directly from them, I usually get them 2 to 3 weeks out so anyday they should show up.
