 Welcome jamaican542 & family. Glad you decided to show yourself. Actually, my daughter (secret shadow aka teen of egypt) has been in touch w/ your daughter already.
Very good, spectum-turbo...very good! I thought maybe you got your docs. None here yet. Are any of you cruisin' thru DVC? I'm wondering if this will make any difference in my doc-arrival-dance. :confused3

thanks for the welcome, ebmouse...I'm glad our daughters are getting acquainted. I'm hopeful to have some "me" time on the cruise and that won't happen unless my kids are occupied!! I'm not sure how my 9 year will like the clubs--hopefully she'll be comfortable enough to get away from my side for a while!
Can't wait for the ocean breezes.. :teeth:

I was just wonder-in' :scratchin ...how are the documents being delivered...post office, fed ex or ups? Must you be home to sign for 'em or will they be left for you? Thanks.

I think our docs came priority mail last year. I know they were left on the doorstep - no signature required. If using a travel agent they come thru the agency not DCL. Atleast that is how it works with All Seasons Travel. I noticed people from later cruises than ours were starting to receive their docs so ours should be in the mail.
I have been obsessively checking Disney.com every few days to see if our rooms were upgraded but of course they have not been. Since we have connecting rooms, it is very unlikely that we will be upgraded but a girl can dream. :cloud9: We picked the same rooms we had last year on the Magic and we were happy with them.
Anyone get an upgrade??? :smooth:

Welcome jamaican542 :wave2: I have added a magnet to the list for your door. I have already made one for your DD. Thanks for making yourself known!! We are making plans for a meeting on the ship as well as 'night before' plans. We will be at Grills in PC, others are planning to meet at different WDW resorts the night before. :Pinkbounc Jump right in and bring your suggestions, comments and ideas. 17 days and counting!
FYI: For those who will be staying in the Port area the night we get off the ship, there will be a Delta IV rocket launch at the Cape. It is scheduled at the moment for 6:50 pm, but we are dealing with NASA here....I know its not the Space Shuttle, but if you have never seen a launch before, (like me) it might be worth waiting for.
Congrats specrtrum-turbo on #250!!!

Welcome jamaican542!
Our docs got here today, also by UPS--left by the front door. It seems like last year for our 7-day cruise they got here a lot earlier though.
jenschaef, I remember the rain--our kids fell asleep on our laps at the picnic tables, so my wife and I sat there for 2 hours while our legs fell asleep! The snorkeling later was terrible since the silt was so stirred up. Plus the island hadn't recovered from the many hurricanes. Some downed trees and a lot of brown vegetation. Should be much prettier this time.

We heard from the TA that she should have them in hand on Friday. Hopefully, she can take a quick look at them and then we can have them in hand for the weekend. I think that she said they were sent out UPS 3-Day from Disney.

Thanks everyone! Boy, I'm really feeling the excitement now! All of a sudden it is so close! The launch is worth seeing if you can do it. A different kind of excitement but worth it. We saw a shuttle pretty well from the beach in Cocoa, so it's probably much better, closer, at the Cape.

thanks, BigRed...how many people are meeting at Grills? We are flying in on Saturday and are staying at the Radisson. I am planning on a visit to Cape Canaveral on Saturday afternoon then wanted to go to Grills! Any plans as to time, etc?
Wish we could stay to see the launch, but our return flight is Thursday afternoon. With my luck, if I changed my flight, the launch would be cancelled!

Grills sounds yummy, unfortunatley we won't be arriving until 1am Sunday. I feel like we are cutting it a little close but got a great rate on the airfare. Staying that first night (morning?) at the Embassy Suites by the airport. After the cruise, we will be staying at Hilton Grand Vacation Club for 4 days to spend some time in the parks. If anyone is staying at Ron Jon....we stayed there last year, it is a beautiful resort.

That I know of now, there are 6 people going. If kehouse stays at the port, they are interested in going and that would be 10 more. As far as a time, you want to be there before the ships start to leave around 5. The Magic begins a 10 day dry dock that starts that day. They might leave the port that night and they might not. :confused3 Anyway, we are at the Radisson also with a 10 am shuttle reservation.

My name is Stefanie and I just found this group today. Picked up my docs from the TA today and got all excited and started looking up a bunch of questions I had. This is the best site by far! I will be traveling with my DH and DS :earsboy: (4 yo) and DD :earsgirl: (2 yo).
Can't wait to go! We'll be driving down from Daytona Beach the day of the cruise. Anyone else here with kids my age?
Are there any more bracelets available? Was reading some of the previuous posts.
Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Haven't been keeping up with totals, just dis names for door magnets. Guessing, I would say in the 50-75 range. I know of a couple of 8-10 person family several 3, 4, and 5 person family's. Some of the early posters haven't been accounted for. I think jacksmom is on another cruise now. I don't think becobscot was actually cruising with us to start with, but not sure. Haven't heard from joeanne lately. Also haven't heard from ck00c02, fuffles, or mjejj since the early posts. :confused3 I think spectrum-turbo bought 40 or 50 bracelets and there are just a few left. Not everyone has claimed one yet either. Come on guys, claim those bracelets so I won't have to buy to many!!! :teeth: There have been about 22 different people check in to this thread, and 1 for sure and maybe 2 are not cruising with us. Not a bad group. Just wish more would be at Grills!! These magnets are gonna be heavy to carry around! :rotfl: All that said, if any of you were paying attention, :listen: I miscounted represented States. What I am saying is, I'm not a mathamatical wiz kid, :teacher: so take these numbers for what they are worth. :rotfl2:

My name is Miranda - I will be traveling with my husband and our three daughters (6, 6 and 3), my sister and her 15 (almost) daughter and her friend (14) as well as my nephew 14 (almost) and his friend (14). My mom and step father are scheduled to go with us but he was just put in the hospital. My mom is so bummed. We are praying that they can still make it. He is having severe stomach pain and they cannot figure out exactly what it is. He has had colon cancer twice but was just given the "All Clear" several weeks ago from his doc. Please help us pray for his health as well as that they can make it on the cruise! I look forward to seeing you all soon!
BTW, How many of you with kids will be dressing them up for Pirate Night?
One more thing, if you have teens (13 - 16) please email me so that I can find out where all of the teens will be meeting up. My neice (Very sweet girl:) ) is wanting to meet some of the other teens and chat before the cruise.

Got your door magnet made already. Look on this page (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=801458&page=8&pp=8) to see the door magnet. Only now it says "Mickey's Thumbs Up Cruise", same as the bracelets. I was taking a chance you and mjejj (have yours made too) would still be cruising! Where will you be on 10/1? There is a group meeting at the Raddison for dinner. A few of us will be at Disney. Where would be a good place for us to say :wave2: before the cruise. You don't have to change your plans but if two or more will be at the same area, it will be a good oportunity to start our adventure pirate:
I will be staying at Beach Club villas and will be visiting Epcot or MK, not sure yet.
Also, when are you heading to Port Canaveral?
We are leaving the house on 9/29 and will stop to visit friends in Charlotte, NC, then we will continue down to BCV Saturday morning enjoy the day at a park and get ready for our cruise. We will return to BCV after the cruise has ended

Miranda,
Yeah, I only have one kids bracelet but there are 17 adult bracelets left. Would you like some of those? I feel your pain on the one bracelet for three kids. I have 2 boys 4 years apart and I would have trouble splitting one, I can only imagine 3 close in age ;)
The cost is $3.00 per bracelet, payable in cash or pina coladas :drinking:

We are in Austin and my in-laws are in Sugarland, about 30 miles inland from Galveston.
It looks like from this mornings news, we will get some much needed rain this weekend and that's about it. But, my in-laws...that's another story. They moved my husbands grandmother from her nursing home last night. It took 4+ hours to make the normally 45 minute trip and she was not doing well. So, I am not sure if they are going to try and ride out the storm or come here today. Phone lines are already jammed in the Houston area and we are really only able to comunicate via email.

Hello All!!
I have talked a lot about Grills in Port Canaveral. Here is link (http://www.visitgrills.com) to their web site. There are pictures of the "view" as the ships go buy, as well as a menu. Also check out the Sunrise Marina site. Grills is part of the marina. The marina has a "live" web cam as well. For perspective, the current location of the camera is actually mounted to the corner of Grills building.

These gas prices are killing us!!! I do not think they are as high here as they are in other places but I spent $150 on gas in 7 days!!! We filled up last night for 2.79 a gallon. We had to buy premium because they were out of regular (2.59). I would definitely wait until you were on the southside of Atlanta to fill up if at all possible. Of course, the southside of Atlanta is where gas prices at a few stores reached almost $6.00 a gallon after Katrina. The govenor has lifted sales tax on all gas through the end of the month and is placing huge fines on stores that are trying to rip off consumers. He has also ordered all schools shut on Monday and Tuesday next week to help conserve gas. Sorry for the lengthy answer....
We will be leaving on Friday and head to south ga where the rest of our group lives.
Looking forward to meeting you all soon.

I finally got my documents yesterday!!!! Yay!! Now I feel like I am really going!!
Miranda- Yes, we are form Georgia. We live in Braselton, about 45 miles north of Atlanta(up I-85). It is "famous" for being the town that the actress Kim Basinger bought in the '80's. I wish they had cancelled school the week we are on our cruise, then the kids wouldn't have to miss four days. I know from driving around today that not too many people are staying home to conserve gas!!!
BigRed1- Gas at the gas station at my exit is $2.60. If you are traveling down 85, exit 129 is the last exit before you get into the really populated area that lasts until you travel through Atlanta. Gas is sometimes a little bit cheaper here than farther south. Of course, if you are coming form TN, you will probably go down 75 which is on the other side of town from me.
We are flying to Orlando on Saturday evening, my son has never flown before so I am sure it will be an adventure.
Just one more week and we will be on VACATION!!!! :cheer2:

Also, we have the late seating. I am trying to decide if we want to try and switch to the earlier. I have three daughters 6, 6 and 3. I am not sure if I will have the girls dine with us or in the O C. It looks like they have very cool activities in the evening that I do not want them to miss. They will probably dine with us on pirate night at the very least. I also plan on taking them to most of the shows. So much to do and so little time. Pirate night is a huge deck party. I starts after the late dinner seating, around 10pm. Your servers will greet you at dinner dressed in pirate attire and tie a bandana on your head. You get a pirate themed souvenir dinner menu. Lots of people dress up. They have a costume contest, music, :rockband: dancing, a lite buffet....hum, right after dinner..(great turkey legs)..and of coarse, pirate: Captain Hook puts in an appearance only to be "run off" by Captain Mickey and Company.

I know that some people at WDW will be watching the fireworks from the beach at the GF (we may try to catch up with you there, or we may be inside the park, I think we are just going to play it by ear :earsgirl: ). Otherwise, the plan is to look for the girl with all of the green bracelets in the terminal or meet on Deck 10 around the outlook :grouphug: (will we know what this is?) for the sailaway party. I think they prefer long pants for the menfolk, but you will see everything at dinner...
We always take a khaki pair of pants and a navy pair for our son and we swap him up each night with different shirts. He only has the pants on during dinner and maybe a show, so we hang them back up and he wears them again. We bring the darker pair in case he stains the khaki! So if you see him in navy for 3 nights, you know what happened on night #1. :rotfl:

ck99c02, opinions vary on late vs. early dining for children. It's probably about 60-40 or 65-35 in favor of early dining. We had early dining on our 7-night cruise last year and this worked well for us. Our kids are 10 & 7 (so 9 and 6 then).
Some say kids are more awake for the early shows in the evening. Personally, I think my kids would be so hungry and grumpy that they wouldn't enjoy the shows if we didn't eat first. Our kids were wide awake for all the shows last time and they're good sleepers.
Others that prefer late dining say that they don't feel rushed from coming back from an excursion to get showered and dressed for dinner. But I guess you'd have to rush anyway if you wanted to catch that evening's show.
Even if we didn't have kids, I think my wife and I would prefer early dining any way. The kids aren't the only ones who get grumpy when they're hungry! :rolleyes1
Lastly, I hear from others on the boards that their kids prefer to stay in the Oceaneer's Lab/Club and eat with the other kids, but our kids never wanted to miss eating in one of the restaurants.
We have late dining this time and are wait-listed for early dining. If they don't switch us before we board, we'll go to Guest Services and see if they can move us. If not, hey, we'll get over it! Late dining on a Disney Cruise still means we're on a Disney Cruise!!! And where else would you rather be? :boat:

Ok, local news just called it Tropical Moisture that will be moving across the state of FL midweek. She stressed the word moisture and that it was not a depression!

Looks like there's a storm in the central caribbean that could develop further once it hits the western caribbean.

Let's just hope it keeps moving west...

Yup, I saw that. I think they said it would be headed for the gulf. Bad news for those on the gulf side. Looks like FL will be getting some rain near the end of the week. I might pack some rain gear for the kids just in case...
Hey, we are probably watching the same news since you are in Orlando. We used to live in Longwood before moving to Port Orange, by Daytona.

BigRed: Where have I been??? :hyper: ...shopping for my cruise! :rotfl2: I've been to the mall twice this week (that would be Sunday and Monday) and need to go at least one more time. At least there are lots of sales this time of year (going broke saving money). DS is going to do this :earseek: when he sees the bills :rolleyes1
Still had not received my docs so I called AllSeasons on Saturday. They sent them out on the 15th but they were returned to them on Friday. Apparently, all mail over a certain amount of ounces (I have 2 rooms so the Docs could be somewhat heavy), must be presented to a postal clerk - a new security thing. Hopefully they will be here by Wednesday (fedex) but we don't leave until Saturday so I have some time left.
5 more days until vacation, I can hardly wait :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: ...let the party begin!

Hi everyone...we are still here, just busy, busy, busy. Funny how this week just snuck up on us! Is everybody ready? I started making piles on the bed today. I have too much stuff!!! Can anyone relate? What is the formula...remove 50%? I'm gonna try but this cruise thing is throwing me off. I don't know why I think I need so much more than at the parks. Maybe swimming to a store has something to do with it?! Hope everyone and their families came thru Rita okay. Looks like we'll have clear skies, so far. Are we meeting up at the sailaway party? Sounds good. Can't wait to meet everyone. I may not get a chance to be on again since we are leaving Friday, so everyone have a safe trip and we'll see you soon!

Hi folks. I missed the whole thread on this, but hubby and I are flying down Saturday and will be doing the Ebert and Roeper festival on the cruise. It's our first cruise and our first Disney cruise, though we're quite familiar with other Disney vacations. :teeth:

Yeah! I just checked my online reservation to see if they for some wonderful reason decided to upgrade us. Well, they didn't, which is fine, we are in Cat. 5 outside with verandah.
But, we did get the Main Seating at 6 pm. When we booked, we were wait listed for it. I have a 4 yr old and 2 year old and we were worried how they would make it and behave through the dinners. I am not too worried about the shows being late. I think they will hopefully be entertained, if not, I will send DH back to the room with them so I can enjoy myself! LOL
I am finally packing some, not clothes yet, but all of the other little things that are all over the house.

Hi folks. I don't think we'll make the sailaway party as that's also the kickoff time for the Ebert and Roeper stuff and hubby just LOVES Roger Ebert, so he won't want to miss it. I'll keep an eye out for the bracelets, though!
We're staying at the Radisson the night before, but we won't get there until around 9pm. :( I'm sure we'll spot some of you around, though. Of course I'm not even a lick packed, so maybe I should work on that part first... :)

I am starting to pack too! I have been planning this trip for over a year and now I am starting to worry that I will forget something important. I guess as long as I have my documents and bathing suit I will be ok. For all of you driving to FL, watch out for the gas prices in GA. At the gas station near my house the price jumped .20 overnight (2.89/gal) and on friday we have to pay gas tax again so it could go up a little more. Of course, it is worth it to go on VACATION!!! See if they have a room available that overlooks the channel where the ships come in and out, got to see the Magic come into port last year at 4:30 or 5:00 am...brought tears to my eyes.

Hi, fellow DIS cruisers. I'm usually over on the Community and VMK Boards, but I did read the first few pages of this thread and thought I better chime in. I'll be on this cruise with DH in room 7130. A friend and his daughter will also be on the cruise. Fifteenth trip to WDW for me, but first cruise :boat:. I'm part of the Ebert/Roeper deal, so for now I am kinda confused on exactly how our schedule will work. I'll figure it out for sure when we board :p.
Anyway - here's a pic of me and DH. I've met tons of DISers in real life and would love to meet some of you. So if you see me, please get my attention by saying some thing like "Hi, DIS" :wave2:.

Allen--thanks for the magnet. I see you're on the 10/7/06 Magic--we booked the week before, the 9/30/06 Eastern--kids school break week. Have fun!
It was nice meeting some of you. Unfortunately, it rained not once, but twice on our Castaway Cay day(s)--making it 3-for-3 for us since it rained on our CC day on our 10/2004 cruise. Oh well--at least we got a little snorkeling in this time! If you don't want rain on your CC day, I suggest you avoid the 9/30/06 Eastern cruise!! :rotfl: :umbrella:
Highlights: Servers Donovan & Halide (sp?) We don't drink and they didn't try to force alcohol/wine on us each night (unlike our last Magic cruise) and we didn't get the "excellent speech." Their overall service was great. Palo dinner & brunch (and server Michael). If you ever go Palo on the Wonder, ask for him! The food in Tritons on the last night! Quality of Shutters photos. Cleaniness of room and the ship in general. Captain John going back to CC on Wednesday. (We heard remarks from a crew member that the other captain wouldn't have done this.) Wonderful performance in Disney Dreams and by juggler on Monday night. Daughter losing a tooth on the first night forcing a late night trip by Tinkerbell (Tooth Fairy's assistant) to Mickey's Mates to, ahem, obtain a Disney pin to put under the pillow! In-laws thanking us 4 and 5 times for bringing them along! Meeting DISers!
Lowlights: Rain!!! Terrible table facing a wall and the kitchen entry in AP (avoid table 25!). Uncontrollably wild kid sitting next to me during Disney dreams who kicked the head of the lady in front of me and was disruptive for the entire show. Snorkeling in Nassau was not nearly as colorful as advertised. Saw lots of fish though. Disembarking!
Again, it was night meeting some of you and hope to see you again on future cruises!

I was so bummed that I did not see anyone from the group on the ship. My entire group (12 of us) went to Grills on Saturday night. I did not realize that it was so big. I looked everywhere for the green bracelets but did not see any:( I tried to make it to the sail away party but did not see anyone when I got up there. On another day, I did see an older couple wearing green bracelets but by the time I got down to the pool deck I could not find them. I also saw someone on Castaway Cay wearing a "Big Red" shirt but was not sure if it was THE Big Red:)
My nephew had a blast in the teen center. Any of you have teens that hung out there often? My nephew said he felt like the people he met there could be his best friends.
Some of my group spent a lot of time playing Bingo. Did any of you?
I did not realize how tired I would be after this vacation. I thought that the kids would love the kids club and I could relax all day - NOT! I sat down to watch Flight Plan on Monday and was paged within the first 15 minutes. My youngest wanted to go swimming with me....
Well, I am sorry that we did not get to meet face to face but it was a pleasure chatting with you all and getting great advice.

I didn't see anyone either. I was on deck for the Sail Away party, but when the horns started to blow, my son got scared so we went inside. I was looking for the green bracelets but didn't see any. Oh well, I hope everyone had as much fun as we did.
Like Miranda, I too was surprised how exhausting this vacation was. My kids didn't spend much time in the kids clubs either. Although, the small amount of time they spent there they had a good time. Even the baby had fun, he adapted really well to travel which made the trip so much easier.
I was amazed at how somoothly everything ran. Even my grumpy Dad was impressed with Disney! What a great trip!

Home again....just got home yesterday afternoon. We spent an additional 4 days in Orlando, going to the parks. I totally missed everyone at the sailaway, got done with lifeboat drill a little late due to some latecomers to the drill. By the time I put my lifejacket back and headed upstairs...couldn't find anyone. Stacy, if you are out there, I owe you some $$$ - Message me your address and I will get it out to you. (I can use the wristbands on next years cruise), I too signed up for 9/30/06 Eastern due to kids school schedule. I think the Captain was awesome to allow us to go back to CC. I was on the Oct. 2 04 cruise that got totally rained out last year and I thought it was going to be a repeat performance this year but Capt. John really came thru for us. Spent Wednesday afternoon snorkeling and bike riding at CC, even saw the resident barracuda out by one of the lifeguard stations.
Hey Buckeye: you were on the same cruise as us last year (10/2), this year (10/5) and will be on the same cruise next year (9/30) NO more rain at CC!

Just made it back home early this morning about 3:30 am. Had a wonderful time getting to know some of you. Sorry to miss others. We also wore our green bracelets during the durations of the cruise and had a great time introducing ourselves to others who wore theres. I even got to see Disnic at Animal Kingdom on Saturnday after the cruise. My girls enjoyed the club and lab so much that I had to beg for them to come out so they could at least enjoy the deck party with us.
Bigred1 thank you for the magnet, that was a nice touch. It was fun to see them on cabin doors while lost and trying to get to our cabin.
This was a great vacation...2 nights in Charlotte, NC, 1 night at Beach Club Resort, 4 nights onboard the Wonder, and 4 nights back at Beach club Resort.
The Food and Wine festival at Epcot was amazing.
Can't wait to do it all over again :cheer2:

we're home! hard to believe, but i was starting to get a little homesick.
wow,is all i can say. we really enjoyed the cruise. it was nice meeting you all. sorry we missed some of you.
big red, thank you for the magnets. it really helped to find the room. the funny thing is, on the last night i took it down to pack, some of us went to pub night, after the show was over me and my sister and bil went to 60's nite, and my mom left to go back to the room. we went to the lobby (about 45 minutes later) and there was my mom!! she couldn't find the room! she said she thought she knew which one it was but did'nt want to knock, just in case she was wrong. :rotfl:
has anyone heard anything about a cast member getting arrested? my sister was watching the news in the hotel and said she saw where a worker on the wonder(our sailing) was arrested for exposing himself to a 14 year old girl. :earseek:
well, thanks for the fun. "till we meet again".

Hope everyone had a safe trip home! :moped: It was great meeting everyone we did meet, and sorry we missed the others. Again, if you didn't get your door magnets and would still like to have them, e-mail or pm me your address and other particulars, and i'll snail mail them to you. What I didn't tell everyone was, I put a magnet of everyones home state flag with the other magnets. You can still use that one on your next cruise. The others are still worth having as a souvenir, so send me those addresses!!! Hope to see everyone again sometime...on another cruise would be great! :teeth: Join us on the Oct. 7, 2006 western Magic if you can! The people that will be on the Sept. 30, 06, maybe we could meet for breakfast after you get off the ship and before we get on! I'll ease drop on your thread and you guys ease drop on ours, and feel free to chime in and post to say hi :wave2: See you soon maybe,
Allen
