Has anyone been to the Church Street Station area in downtown Orlando lately? We haven't been there since 1992 when we lived in Orlando. We were just wandering if it is still as lively and entertaining as it was back then? Any opinions?

I've heard that most of it is closed right now. Here is a link: http://www.churchstreetstation.com/

Thanks for the link. I guess I'll change our plans a little and pass by this one this year.

We went in April as we had never been on previous trips and were curious.
What a waste of time.
Very little open; a couple of shops and restaurants.
It felt like a ghost town. Don't bother.

The Cheyenne Saloon is still going strong. It's a great country-western show and the saloon itself is spctacular -- easily one of the mnost beautiful interior spaces in Orlando. It's all wood on three or four levels and not a single nail was used in the construction.
If you'd like to stay downtown, I'd recommend the Grand Bohemian Hotel. You can get great suites there for anbout what you'd pay for a regular room at a Disney Resort.

Just to confirm, there is still a lot going on downtown and the Grand Bohemian is worth a look even if you don't stay there. Quite magnificent. The new Orange County History Center is well worth a visit and there are still a stack of clubs and bars in the Church Street/Orange Avenue area, so it is still quite lively at night. Lake Eola to Thornton Park is also a lovely area for a walk.
