Welcome to both of you! PM means private message, so only the user you send a PM to will be able to see it. If you find someone you want to PM, find a post by them, and underneath their post, click the button that says PM. Type a subject and a message just like in email. If you want to test it out on me, feel free. I don't get too many PM's! :)
