A friend of mine told me to keep my geraniums and store for winter and then plant in Spring and I'll have very huge and healthy geraniums. Has anyone ever done this and if so, what steps did you take when bringing them out in Spring. Also, have you ever done to other plants as well?
I did store mine for winter and just pulled out yesterday to plant and they all have new growth on them, so I'm crossing my fingers for healthy plants!

Yup, I carry over geraniums. I either repot them and keep them as houseplants for the winter (around the jacuzzi in the bathroom) or knock the dirt off and hang them upside down in the basement. It's worked out each year with all the geraniums but the Martha Washington. I don't know what I did wrong but she didn't make it:confused3 I think she didn't like the humidity in the bathroom.
Saves a lot of time shopping for geraniums in my favorite colors & they do get hardier and hardier pirate: each year.

All i did was bring 'em ni and put 'em down in the basement. they wintered over just fine. In fact, I just put them out yesterday and they have about 5 blooms each

I was so excited when I read the first post.....that is until I read this part It's worked out each year with all the geraniums but the Martha Washington.
 I usually don't care much for geraniums but this year found 2 beautiful Martha Washington ones. One is deep maroon and the other a dark purple with a little bit of white on the edges of each petal. I think I'll try storing them in the crawl space this fall.
