View Full Version : Mini Meets Itinerary During the DIS Convention
Linda
08-15-2001, 11:46 AM
Well here it is folks the big mini meet itinerary :) Marsha and I attempted to fit everything in with as few schedule conflicts as possible. We may even have room to add a few more. Currently we are looking for a few volunteers to host some of the events. It really does not involve much work, a little fine tuning of the event and arriving at the meet site a little early to welcome those that attend the meet. Oh – yes, I almost forgot, Pete has gone to great lengths to provide all hosts with the new official uniform of the DIS site to be worn by all those helping with the convention and mini meets. This lovely ensemble features a neon lime green T-shirt and jeans that says DIS all over plus a hat that features fiber optic glowing plastic corn cobs that uses the same technology as Spectromagic :) This is so other DIS’ers can spot you in amongst the crowds and will be available for all to purchase during the event.
Please note that these mini meets are independent from the DIS Convention and that we will not handle any reservations that involve a separate cost (for example tickets to MVMCP, meals or recreation such as mini golf). The mini meets are open to all DIS’ers even those not attending the official convention events. By the way, just kidding about the official uniform of the DIS site. Sorry I could just not help myself
Please email Marsha or I if you would like to volunteer to host a meet, thanks !!! Linda

HUGS to you Linda!!
I've no experience with pin trading, but the pin-trading event on 12-2 at the Yacht Club Lobby sounds like something that my girls and I would enjoy. I don't have anything scheduled that day other than packing till that evening for the MVMCP and PS at Crystal Palace. So can we host this?

Whoops! We have a mistake Jaypd's and PatrickIL's thrill ride tour path are different. They both start at MK though.
I will get you the path when I am back home.
I can do the Buzz Lightyear shoot-off. I will even bring a prize for the highest scorer and a ****y prize for the lowest scorer! :)

Barb, how much does the Tea cost? And when do you pay? Will there be a sign-up for this? I'm not sure if I can swing it or not--depends on the little ones.

Route: Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios
Extreme Thrills
Host: Jaypd
Meeting: 8:30 am, Ticket and Transportation Center
Route: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios
The Ultimate Rush
Host: Patrick IL.

Teen Thrills
Host: Clopin84lp
Meeting: 8:15 am, Epcot’s entrance gates

Tia, there are all different prices for a wide variety of items. If you look down the convention board, there is a post asking who might be interested in attending the tea. There is also a menu to help you decide. I don't think that was the official sign up. Hope you can make it. :D

I am sort of bumping this up...
but would also be willing to host an Osborne Lights Mini-meet. I just have to figure out if it is possible to fit.
I am going to work on getting a master Itenerary together with all the activities and all the mini-meets listed on one page, just to see where it might be able to fit in. If anyone has already done this can you please post it. It will make it a lot easier than flipping between pages trying to see if you can do something.

I saw that we could probably fit in a mini-tour of the osborne family lights before the fantasmic dessert paty on thursday and friday night.
if we could meet in front of muppets 3-d at 5:30 on each night, you should finish before the dessert party starts each nightthat way you can encounter downtown new york together.
I will be willing to host the one on friday night if someone could do one on thursday night. That way it would cover both nights.

BTW, how many beavertails do I have to eat? ;)
ROTFLOL, Kim! You must match 1 to 1 every beavertail eaten by all others at the meet!

The thrill ride meet times have changed. Since the original meet times are going to interfere with the breakfast, we're meeting at 8:45 outside the breakfast room. Then we will split up and go our separate ways.

Kim, I love the beavertails, too! I'm really hoping to fit that one in. My favorite is the cinnamon and sugar.

I want to Double Check so I can change it on the Itenerary.
The Akerhus luncheon...that is going to be a singles meet? Or can any attend?
I will be adding a coule of items to it this evening and should have it updated and uploaded soemtime early this evening.
Pat, I think lunch at Restaurant Akershus is for anyone that wants to come. I think Taryn is doing the singles meet during the reception at Altantic Dance.

If you're interested in going to the Aker-whatever (never can get that name) meet, Pat, you might want to PM Taryn and let her know you plan on attending. I believe she was making a PS for around 2:30 that afternoon.

I think I will attend the maximum shovelage at the Norway restaurant. :)
I call all buffets "Maximum shovelage" because that's all you seem to do -- eat as much food as possible! Can we ride Test Track and Body Wars afterwards? Pretty please? :)
LOL, Barry! I could probably do Test Track and not have a problem. But, Body Wars would be a whole other story. I might end up seeing everything I ate at Norway in reverse!

Hi Pat,
I've not been online all that much lately so sorry for leaving you all in the dark about the Akershus meet.
I've got a PS for 1430 at Akershus on the 28th, so far it is for 10 but since it usually a pretty easy PS and given the time we are going I'm sure we'll be able to adjust it if nessesary, even close to the date.
We kind of called it singles meet and made it really early in the itinerary so that us shy ones who are travelling alone for the first time will have friends as soon as possible! But please, couples, families, DISCONers with buddies already, everyone can come! The idea was just to meet people early!
I'm going to start another thread just to confirm those who have expressed interest so you can look for that thread rather than replying here!
Thanks!

Marsha and or Linda could you please add me to host the Osborne Lights on Thursday nite, if there isn't anyone to do that yet??? Pat said there was no one for it at chat last nite, and asked if I would be up for it......Please let me know. Thanks!
Yikes!!! I also have two more questions...
1) Is the resort decorations tour still in the works??? If not, how about just a tour of the monorail hotels???
2) And what if you want to do one of the behind the scenes tours as a group. Do you do it as a mini-meet and see if others sign up? Ok, I was thinking of maybe doing it as a mini-meet the day that the thill ride meet is happening for the people that don't do the thrill rides???
Both are ideas...I would really like to do the second one if there is any interest. Please let me know if either is ok with you guys. If not, it is ok too. Have a good one!!!
