Hey guys, were any of you at Texas Roadhouse on Kipling and C470 last night? We saw a truck in the parking lot that had the words Mickey Mouse on the tailgate and a licsence(sp?) plate that said ILVMICKEY (or something close to that) and then had a mickey head antennae topper. I didn't actually get to see the side of the truck though.....

We were at the Texas Roadhouse at 104th & Grant on Thursday, does that count? No? Fun license plate though! I have golden mickey ears on my antenna.

Cowgirl quencher? Anything like a malibu margarita? You know, sweet and girly?
cristit14
05-02-2006, 04:25 PM
definately sweet and girly.... I don't know for sure what was in it, but it has cranberry juice and OJ. I am not sure if it was rum or not, but it sure was yummy! :teeth:

If you Google "cowgirl quencher" this same recipe seems to come up on a bunch of different sites:
Drink Ingredients:
1 oz Malibu® coconut rum
1 oz DeKuyper® Peachtree schnapps
orange juice
pineapple juice
1 splash grenadine syrup
Intructions:
Pour the Malibu coconut rum and DeKuyper Peachtree schnapps into a margarita glass filled with crushed ice. Fill the rest of the glass with equal parts of orange and pineapple juice. Add a splash of grenadine, top with an orange slice and a cherry and serve.
Serve:
Margarita Glass
I'm getting hot flashes just thinking about it! :furious:

I don't know what you mean. All I was saying that I generally had more luck with the ladies when they were half-toasted.
How could you not have been, they have 2fers for $14.99!!!!
2fers of what?
jiminyC_fan
05-04-2006, 11:11 AM
Jrsy, 2fers are 2 dinners for 14.99 M-F from 4-6pm. They have a select few items to choose from. Sirloin steak, country fried steak, pork chop can't remember what else. They have to die for dinner rolls and it is the kind of place that you eat peanuts in the shell and can throw the shells on the floor. Good food, good prices.

I will gladly trade you prime rib for those rolls and honey butter!!!! We would get along great, you eat the meat and veggies, while I eat rolls and peanuts and some ribs!!!!! I can't believe you don't like the butter, I could eat that as my meal. :teeth:

Our families' thoughts exactly :confused3 We really like Taylor too, but we thought that Chris was so much better that Taylor wouldn't have a chance to win. We really liked Paris and Mandisa too. Those two are so good that if they really want to chase "the dream" it won't be very hard for them to catch it.

On Ryan Seacrest's radio show there was an announcement that Chris Daughty is now being offered the Lead Singer position for a major band. He did not announce who the band is. Ryan said that EXTRA on NBC at 7:00 p.m. will be announcing who the band is. Looks like Chris may have it better then if he had become the AI winner. :woohoo:

Who was the guy who was eliminated last week? He was being interviewed by Kathy Sabine on the news, and sang a Queen tune. DH says he remembers him performing at Thorntonfest several years back and was impressed even then. (sorry I am not a regular viewer of this show)

Platos is in Atlantis on Paradise Island. It has been there for a long time, but this is the first time I have actually noticed it and went to get a bite from there. Today it was raining cats and dogs in Nassau. You could harldy see the ships some times as the wall of rain was really thick.

Boy this thread sures slows in the summer time. Too many people enjoying the fresh air, I guess.
Hey guys...
Sorry it's been so long since I posted. School is finally out and we're enjoying our summer so far :cool1: The girls and I have been doing lots of summer clothes shopping and getting ready for our first camping trip next week. We are heading up to Lake Granby and I hope the weather stays this nice.
DV - You have two girls, 11 & 13?? That's how old my girls are too. My oldest starts high school in August :scared1:
Hope everyone is staying cool. We've been spending a lot of time at the pool (or at the mall).
Sandy - When are you guys leaving again? We want to go again so bad, but with the girls school schedule, next summer is out for us. We're hoping maybe the year after that. I have a friend going in Sept for the first time and I've been giving her all my stuff to checkout (passporter, photo albums) I'm so jealous she's going without me :guilty:
DenverVal
06-13-2006, 10:26 PM
So, DCLcruiser, I like the new format for the navigators. Do you know if this is this a trial, or have they decided this is the way to go for a while? I like the clutter being gone, I like the TV guide format for activities, I love that the kids' clubs activities are included and I especially love that it's just a single piece of paper!
DenverVal
06-13-2006, 10:35 PM
DV - You have two girls, 11 & 13?? That's how old my girls are too. My oldest starts high school in August :scared1: Yes, my oldest starts high school in the fall and the younger starts middle school. They both had continuation ceremonies on the same day, but we managed. One of the parents at the elementary school solicited all the fifth grade parents for pictures of the kids and teachers over the last six years, and put together an awesome slide show that she presented at the ceremony. I was just fine until the end when she put in pictures of the middle school where they will all be moving to...*blinking back tears*. I noticed I wasn't the only one. I can't believe we're done with elementary school!
We are looking forward to a breather over the summer. It has been an insanely busy several months. I am taking my older daughter and going to California to attend my nephew's high school graduation, and will visit Disneyland and several good friends that we made on the last cruise. And we got season passes to Elitch's so we could go to Magic Mountain...our season pass is less than their daily admission! Both are Six Flags, so the passes are good for admission. Looking forward to that. The younger is staying behind because she is enrolled in tennis lessons, and she is very excited about that. Looking forward to lazy weekends at the water park. :)
With both girls starting at new schools this fall, we won't be doing any late summer cruising...but all bets are off the next year! We are going to Spain to sail the Magic back home, and the kids will miss the first week of school again. Hey, they'll get to see Picasso and Gaudi works, Roman ruins, castles, cathedrals, and European culture and food. We did that this year with the Panama Canal cruise and they both still managed to be on honor roll. Even a bonus - when Matt Lauer did his "where in the world" segment on the Today Show, and was standing in front of one of the Gatun Locks, my daughter recognized it instantly, even though they were zoomed way in. "Hey Mommy, he's at the Panama Canal! ... I've been there!"

06-14-2006, 02:36 PM
Teresa, we are going on the 10 day Wonder Sept 7-17th. This time Heidi is coming too. It isn't coming soon enough. We contemplated on one of the Med cruises but decided that we would rather spend more time in Europe enabling us to "see" more.
Val - I never realized you have girls the same age. Cool! :thumbsup2 My youngest has one more year before going to middle school, but what a great idea about the slide show. I know several parents that have had kids in the same class since kindergarten and I bet we could get lots of pictures together, plus I work at the school, so I can still get new pictures.
I know what you mean about taking a breather this summer. We've been to the pool about 5 times so far and we're only into our 2nd week :sunny: I have a lot of fun things planned (Heritage Square, Wildlife Experience) so we won't be too bored. Have your girls seen HOOT yet? It's playing at the Aurora Cinema Grill and probably will go see that next week.
How fun will that be to go to Spain and see all those great sights. I'm so jealous  If we had the money, we'd SO be on that. I think the kids learn so much, because they don't realize they are "learning" while on vacation :teacher:
Sandy - I wish I could feel sorry for you, but since your not taking me with you :earboy2: We want to go on one so badly, but think we'll have to wait until 2008 :guilty: I guess I'll have to live through you guys until them :goodvibes

I can't believe how many fires there are already and it's only June. I hate to see how bad it'll get in July and August. The rain last night was nice, but wish it would have lasted longer.

Has anyone been to the U.S. Toy store in Highlands Ranch recently? I was wondering if they still have alot of pirate supplies left since Pirates of the Carribean - Dead Man's Chest is so popular pirate: I'm thinking of coming up to Denver this weekend and I thought I might just check it out because our first Disney cruise is in October.
Hey guys...
Sorry I've been MIA. After our camping trip, we left town for 10 days for our annual San Francisco/Reno road trip, 3000 miles round trip. I would have loved to have been here for all that rain Denver had.
I only have one more week off and then back to school... I'm not ready to go back yet :guilty:
twinmom - I haven't been to US Toys since they re-opened it, but I'm sure they still have all that pirate stuff they had before. I saw some Pirate's of the Carribean stuff at Party City too, so you might check them out. I ordered pirate tshirts for our cruise on some website that sells all kinds of pirate stuff.

twinmom, I don't know about US toys, but they had some stuff at Target the last time I was there.

I wish our school district would give working families better flexibility for taking vacations without kids missing school. Who in their right mind wants to go when things are as packed as they can possibly be? (Read Christmas and high summer here) Our stupid school district (Adams 12 in case some administrator happens to read this) starts a week before Labor Day and ends a week and a half after Memorial Day, making it completely impossible to combine a paid holiday with vacation time for those of us who work in the real world. They could combine all those miscellaneous, ridiculous, single days off into a block of usable time, instead of adding to my daycare expenses with these irritating no-school days.
I only get 12 vacation days a year as opposed to our teachers' 12 weeks. My vacation time is precious; I want to take a relaxing, fun, uncrowded vacation when the weather is moderate, and I resent them telling me they reserve the right to not excuse my kids' absences for this reason.

But do you get more than the standard two weeks at Christmas and one week in spring?
We get five weeks at Christmas, three in the fall, three in the spring, and five in the summer. I actually love the schedule for going on vacation as we usually go when the crowds are low. We are Douglas County and about half of the schools are year round like ours and the remainder are more traditional.
momsully - Are you guys year-round?
DV - We actually get 2 weeks for all, 2 weeks for Christmas and 2 weeks in spring, whereas most of the other Douglas Co schools get 1 week fall & spring. I complain about the short summer, but I do like having the longer fall and spring breaks.
I'm with you on the schedules. We use to be on year-round and we use to take our big vacation in May, before all the big crowds. Now that we're traditional, we try and go early June, but everyone and their grandmothers are already on the road. I don't need some teacher and/or administration telling me I can't take my kid on a vacation. When we did our Disney Cruise over a year ago, my girls missed 7 days of school and all their teachers were understanding about how it was a trip of a lifetime. The only thing I hate is the homework they give, like we're going to be doing that while on vacation. I save it for when we get home. ;)

We are year round. DS7 is on B track. Our school is considering going to a modified B track schedule next year.

It is still on Quebec just north of County Line. I am assuming when the poster said reopen it was a reference to when it closed a couple of years ago when we had the big snowstorm. I don't think it has closed since then.

Hey, has anyone ever stayed out next to the airport the night before a flight and left your car at the hotel? If so, which one and how did it work out? We are leaving for WDW on the 5th really early and I want to spend the night out there Friday night so we have a better chance of not missing our flight. Last time we had an early flight we missed it because someone didn't think we really needed to leave as early as we should have (read DH).

Cristi - I have never tried it, but that sounds like a really good idea. I would be interested in doing this as well some time (not this upcoming vacation because I think being gone for 15 days they may tow my car!!!) What time is your flight leaving? Ours leaves at 6:00am, my dad suggested we need to get ready to leave by 3:00am and I told him no way that it was way too early....maybe I should go with what he said instead of argue so we don't miss our plane!!!!!

The airport is really crazy right now. I had a seven am flight Monday to Phoenix and the security line was outrageous. Depending on the airline you are flying the ticket counter may not even open until 5 am for you to check baggage. I usually leave at 4 for a 6 am flight but we live in Highlands Ranch. We also park onsite at the airport in the economy lot so we don't have to worry about a shuttle.

Heidi, I just tattled on you and read your post to your dad. You should have heard his laugh!! It made his day!
Guess we should hit up US Toys before our cruise.
I was talking about when US Toys was closed after that big storm. I haven't been there since.
momsully - We use to be year-round too, up until about 3 years ago and now we're on a modified B track now. They call it a modified traditional and I love it.

Our flight is at 7 am and trying to get all four of us there by 5 would be near impossible. The flight that we missed was a little over a year ago. I think it was at 6:50. DH didn't think we needed to be there at 5am. So, we left our house at something like 4:45. Then he thought that maybe we left the garage door open so we had to swing back by. We always park in Pikes Peak so we get there and there is a shuttle right there at the stop. We are grabbing our stuff and DH runs back to the car to get the radio out of it. The shuttle leaves and we have to wait at least 20 minutes for the next one. So, we get up to the counter to check in and it is something like 615 or 620. They wouldn't let us check in. We were lucky we got out that day at all since it was the week of spring break. I was very good though and didn't say anything to DH about it. The whole time I was thinking about how he didn't want to wait there for the 2 hours and we ended up having to wait about 4 1/2 before we left.

It is only $5 a day but if you just miss a shuttle it can be awhile for the next one which can be really frustrating. If you are going to park there I recommend curb checking your bags then parking. That way the bags are checked in 45 minutes prior to the flight. After that time most airlines will not let you check the bags.

yeah, I was pretty good. Normally, I would have said something, but I really didn't want any pouting for the time we were waiting there. Normally we don't have to wait that long for a shuttle bus to pick us up. It is usually 15min or so. That is a good idea about curb checking your bags and then parking. I never thought about that.

I jusst found a coupon for PCA for parking for $4.50/day. I think we will use that. Parking the car for so long the .50/day will really add up!!!!
If anyone is interested in the coupon, you can find it at: http://www.longtermparking.com/COUPONS/cppcadia.htm it expires 9/30/06.

We always park at PCA and have NEVER waited for a shuttle. In fact, the shuttle has ALWAYS waited for us to unpack the car. They are perfect. Momsully, I really like the idea of dropping off the luggage first. If we are running ahead of schedule, Heidi, maybe we could do that and not have to lug around the luggage on the shuttle and then off again. Hmmmm.

Ah...back in CO...man it is cold here...i am wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt.
The 50 cents a day isn't that bad when you look at the alternatives...like renting or hiring a car. However coupons are always good!
Oh and for those returning from to Denver from Orlando, the airport was extremly smooth. I went through the secruity lines 3 times mainly because I wanted stuff in the main terminal and all 3 times, I walked right up to the x-ray machine...no wait time at all and this was during the mid afternoon

Last night I found out that the internet company that I bought my magnet paper from sent all my private info including my credit card number to a person in her shipment. I only found out because SHE contacted me. I still don't have my shipment and now they aren't answering their phone. That person is worried that HER info was shipped to a different person. She used paypal. I called the bank at 10:30 PM last night and they closed my credit card account and are issuing me a new card. I went to the bank today and they stopped payment to this company. What a horrible feeling. I don't know how many other people got my info. Hopefully just the one. I was soooooo fortunate that she contacted me. DO NOT USE DECALPAPER,COM.

Hey, it's been 9 1/2 months since anyone posted is anyone out there?:surfweb:
If so what trips do you have planned?
I'm doing WDW in October 07 with one of my DS's.:cool1:
Also doing Special 5 night Bahamas Cruise September 1, 2008 with DH.:cloud9:
This is going to be a great cruise. It's on the Magic, not the Wonder (both great ships). This cruise has 2 STOPS at CASTAWAY CAY!!!!!!
Would love to see some fellow Colorado Cruisers on this cruise with us. Check out our thread "Special 5 Night Bahamas Cruise" on the DCL cruise meets board. Our group already has many things planned including a tour of some staterooms including the Roy Disney Suite!:woohoo: What do you say - who is going to join us from Colorado?

I am still here! No cruises planned right now but we are headed to WDW in October as well. We are planning to do MNSSHP and just hang out while the kids are out of school.
I would love a cruise with 2 stops at Castaway Cay. We are planning to cruise again in 2008 so I will have to be on the lookout for the special itinerary.

Hello Coloradoans!
We also are headed to WDW, but in Sept. We wanted to take advantage of their free dining special. We are cruisin the week prior to that out of FLL on the Carnival Liberty (I got a great rate, 6 nights for $289:yay: :yay: ). We will just get a car and drive up after that. Should be fun! We are also headed to Hawaii in Nov. Should be a great year

WOW, that was fast :thumbsup2 . Please do check out the itinerary it going to be a blast. Besides the double dip at Castaway Cay there's a stop at Nassau and one sea day - yeah:cool1: . It's a surprise for DH (for now anyway)
We surprised our boys last year with a Disney Cruise in October. Twins turned 14 on the cruise and the other was just shy of 13. I had the ruse that we were going onboard to "tour the Magic". It was difficult to keep it going once we were onboard (boarded about noon), but we were able to make it all the way into the stateroom before announcing the surprise that we were really going to stay on the ship. They were stunned - speechless - and that doesn't happen very often.:rotfl: Our youngest said "I'm not going to believe it until this ship sails and I'M STILL ON IT".:rotfl2: We booked this cruise in November 2004 and got connecting secret porthole rooms.
This October I'm just taking one of our twins who will turn 15 during the trip.
We're going during his fall break too. Maybe we'll be there the same time?
We're staying at Boardwalk Villas Oct 4-8 and the new Animal Kingdom Villas Oct 8-15.

Still here! We're counting the days until we sail the Magic back to Florida from SPAIN! I am soooooooo excited! We're planning 4 days precruise in Barcelona, plus the boarding day and the next day before setting sail. Afterwards, several days at BCV in WDW! Is VAK open for booking in September? When I booked the Beach Club they told me no, but the literature they just sent me says the first phase opens in July.
I looked very seriously at the 5-day special cruise, but I just don't want to send the kids to school for a week and then take them out for a week. They wouldn't miss anything worth talking about the first week, but the second they start getting into stuff. My friend Winotracy will be one of the occupants in the Roy Suite - enjoy the tour!

AKV is availble to book now if you are an AKV owner. July and August are very limited. All other DVC owners can start booking AKV either June 4 or June 6 you'd need to double check with DVC member services.

Wow, I just came across this thread and haven't seen it pop up for awhile!!! My family is all doing great. Our next cruise will be the 7 day Eastern in September. My mom is going to WDW the week before and I only get to go the day before but am excited because I get to go to MNSSHP at least!! I have the Eastern Repo booked in August 2008, but will probably cancel it because it looks like our honeymoon will be in Puerto Rico in June.
Good to see this thread revived.
