We did this a couple of years ago for my youngest's first haircut. It was great! He got a certificate signed by Mickey, a pair of Mouse Ears embroidered with "My First Haircut," and a lock of hair. We also took some great pictures of him sitting in the barber chair. They have a huge pair of plastic scissors that they let him play with and used as a prop in our pictures. turned out great! It's definitely worth waiting a little while longer to get the first hair cut done down there.
The barber shop does not take advance appointments. It is a first come, first served basis. Sometimes they do get backed up, so try to go early in the morning if you can or during the parade. They close at 5:00 PM daily. Oh, one more thing. They just recently moved the barber shop and it is now tucked in next to the Emporium right near where the afternoon parade ends.

will they do girl's hair? I would like a about a inch trimmed off.
We had our little girl's first haircut done last November. It was so cute. They did all of the things mentioned above. We got the ears and the certificate. My daughter cried the entire time. She was 20 months at the time. You know those blonde headed babies, they take so long to grow that hair! The lady that cut it was wonderful. She didn't get upset or anything. We got her hair to bring home.
Just before us was an older gentleman getting his haircut and then a teenage girl was after us. They were pretty busy. It went in the middle of the day, after lunch as we were heading back to our hotel for a swim.
I am expecting again and hopefully can plan a trip so that this one can have her haircut there too.

My daughter will be turning three when we go to Disney 10/18(at the POLY). She has never
had her hair cut. It going to be so hard to see her hair cut. I just wanted to take maybe a
inch off. Would that be considered a lock of hair? Maybe two inches?

Anyone know how much it costs? I would like to have my 8 mo. old's "comb over" taken care of. It will only take about 2 snips so I don't want to pay too much. Thanks.

We also had our DS first hair cut there. It was so much fun and would love to have all of his children many years from now get their first cut there too!
Anyway I didn't think it was a bad price at all. If memory serves me right we only paid $12 and then a tip. So all together $15. Granted I only pay $6 now but for the magic it was well worth the money!

He is 18 months old now, and needs a haircut, I have trimmed his bangs, but the back is getting pretty long by now... but I refuse, I will be at Disney in 15 weeks...YIPPEEEEE... and I refuse to get his first haircut until I am on Mainstreet USA!!! My friends tell me I am a little crazy.. am I?? LOL

You're not crazy at all! I have been to WDW with my great-niece 3 times now and she has yet to have enough hair to need a cut! No hair at 7 months, no hair at 12 months, and only a little hair at 18 months. Her next trip will be at 2 1/2, and she's getting her hair cut then whether it needs it or not--it sounds like so much fun!!:p

I believe it is a barber shop for all ages and sexes. I may need a trim, too--lol!

What constitutes a first hair cut? My 22 mo has had her bangs trimmed (otherwise they'd be halfway down her face by now!) but the back has never been cut. Would that count as a first haircut?

That is what I think is a first haircut, I have trimmed Noah's bangs too, but he has yet to have that "first" all over haircut!! And he will not till we hit Disney..LOL
