We made a reservation for a stay in the cabins at FW in June this summer. I got a rate for 169.00+tax per night. 1st of all is this a pretty good rate? We have always stayed at Deluxe resorts so I know that the rate is cheaper than we usually pay. What all is there to do at FW? Will we need a golf cart that I've been hearing people talk about? I didn't ask for a specific area, should I have? What are good areas for the cabins? We have 2 daughters that are 10,and 12.I think they will get a kick out of doing this because we have never done anything like this at all! I know this is long but if anyone has any suggestions we would really appreciate them. Thanks so much Chip&Janet.

Chip... I would definately choose a site(request a loop) although you are not guaranteed that site, it does give you an idea of where to start. Look on this site under resorts, then under Ft. Wilderness and it gives you loops to request.

We loved the golf cart. Used it as transportation instead of waiting for buses, and also as a way to check out other loops. There is a Bike Barn right inside Ft. Wilderness, but try Golf Cart Enterprises..they were awesome and much cheaper. Look on this board for my posting on golf carts. There are lots of opinions in the replys. I think the heading says you goota look or something like that. It made believers out of us to try Golf Cart Enterprises and we definately were not sorry!!

There is tons to do at Ft Wilderness!!!There is the campfire, sing a long, nightly outside movies, hay rides, the HOOP DE DO dinner theatre, horse back rides, River Country, petting zoo, nightly water parade etc etc etc Lots of people never even go into the parks!!

Chip & Janet - Congratulations on your decision to stay at FW!! You won't be sorry! And, your rate of $169 per night for a cabin is the lowest price I've seen!

You will absolutely LOVE FW! There is so much to do, that we always say that we could stay for a week and never even visit the parks!

I would also rent a golf cart from Golf Cart Enterprises. They are cheaper than renting from FW and they pick up and drop off the cart for you. They are very nice to work with! I haven't seen a single complaint on this board yet!

The cabin loops are all in one area - so you will be happy with whatever loop you get. They are all within walking distance to the cabin area pool.

Make sure you visit the campfire program at least once - it's a great way to spend a relaxing, fun evening away from the parks. Also, don't forget the Electrical Water Pageant each night at 9:45 from the beach!

Chip and Janet,
Oh gosh, you will love FW. There is a ton of things to do there. Your kids will have alot of fun. Plus, you can save money by having some of your meals at the cabin a few times. It's very, very relaxing. YOu can rent golf carts to get around in. Or take the internal bus system they have. (they really don't want you using your car once you get there, they want you to use there bus system).
We camp there every year and we bring our bikes. They have 2 pools, lots of differant play grounds. Tennis, fishing, volleyball, canoeing, horse back riding. Gosh, there is so much I don't even know where to begin.
If you have any specific questions...I'll be happy to answer them for you.

How did you get FW in June for $169? We are also going to be there in June - June 21-28. The price I was quoted is almost $300.
