When I first started the Wish Challenge, I was so amazed at how successful it was and how many people took the challenge and lost an amazing amount of weight. After the challenge had started, it took me a couple of months to actually ‘get on board’ and when I did, I lost about 35 pounds by doing Atkins.

At that time, there were a lot of changes going on in my life and of course, my way of dealing with this was to turn to food. I finally woke up (again) on Monday, March 21st and started Atkins again. This is my 20th day and I have lost 15 pounds :). I am very happy with the weigh loss so far but I have a few issues I continue to struggle with.

The first issue is drinking enough water. I’m not sure what it is about water but I automatically turn to diet coke instead. Regular coke is a big reason why I gained a lot of the weight back that I lost. I have challenged myself to drink more water over the next couple of weeks and less diet coke.

The 2nd issue is getting more exercise. When I first started back on Atkins, I started walking but that has ended. Those of you who remember me from 2 years ago, know I HATE EXERCIZE! But, I have also challenged myself to start walking again.

The 3rd issue is that pesky scale in the bathroom! Why is it that I can’t even go into that room without wanting to or actually stepping on that scale? I know weight can fluctuate from hour to hour, I do understand you shouldn’t weigh yourself more than once a week but, that doesn’t stop me! I step right on it and it has been controlling my daily moods.

I am sure I am not the only one out there who struggles with this and thought this would be a great challenge so, I have removed the scale and will NOT weigh myself until Friday morning. I would love to move this to every 2 weeks and do plan on eventually working towards this goal.

So, if you would like to join me in this challenge, grab the clipart and set your goal and post it here.

I refuse to be controlled by that scale any longer! ;)

Hey!!

You really have a hold on this!! I did much the same thing. I started Atkins because I identified foods I feel I cannot "live" without...bread, pasta, fries. Atkins fell in that plan. I think that is why I had such good success with it. (I had already lost 55 pounds within 7 months last year)

My other problem was water too. I hated water. I have turned that around and drink only 1 pop a day and it is a diet rite.

My biggest problem is also exercise. I hated it. I would hear people talk about craving it and thinking ....fool....you're nuts. Well, that was until I found Jazzercise. I just love it there!! So, now I workout...HARD...an hour 5 days a week.

As far as the scale goes, I got away from using it and noticed I crept 20 pounds from my original goal weight. So, I weighed when I re-started Atkins last Sunday and already am down 5 pounds. I have started weighing only on Fridays. Then I also take measurements every 2nd Friday. That way I can see my progress.

I can't get on the "no scale" thing, because I need to see it every week. It is hard though, to give that daily reassurance up. I just think you are doing fantastic and have an excellent outlook and I think it is a great thing you are doing here and wanted to give you a little cheer :cheer2: along with anyone else taking it on.... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey Kelsie,

I will take the challenge with you.

I have been on Atkins for one week, I am doing great so far.

I have done it before and fell off after losing about 45 pounds.

I will drink lots of water (and limit to 2 diet drinks a day).

I will exercise 5-6 times a week (walk about a mile or two a day).

The scale will be tough, I am actually under a physicians care for this diet. I have considered doing weight loss surgery, but I need 6 months of a doctors care first. I hope I can avoid surgery. I have ALOT to lose, almost 130 pounds, but I am taking this diet one day at a time.

I got my WISH member clipart and Thursday night (weigh in day) I hope to change it to a losing number.

Thanks for doing this challenge. :)

Sharon

You are so right! My bathroom scale so controlled me last week. Early in the week, I showed to have at least a 3.5-lb loss, and by Saturday (my WW weigh in day), I only showed a 2-lb loss. :( Even though I had lost 2 pounds I was so upset about not losing 3.5 that I let it ruin my entire day. I really don't want this to happen again. I'm working hard and staying on track with the Weight Watchers program. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, the weight IS coming off.

I would like to try this challenge. The first 2 issues I've had under control for over 3 weeks now, so I just need to keep it up. The 3rd issue (the scale) is my real problem. I need desperately to stay off the scale until my official weigh in day (Saturday a.m.). So even though I'm a WW and not on Atkins, I feel like I need to claim the clippie and set my goal to stay off the scale during the week and only weigh on Saturday mornings.

This is going to be the most difficult challenge yet!

Hi Everyone :cheer2:

I haven't stepped on the scale since Friday and am still on the program. It's been almost 3 weeks and I haven't cheated at all! That is really something for a 'sugar freak' like me!

Actually, removing the scale from the house (my poor scale is all alone in the garage ;) ) has really helped! I don't think about it every time I go in there anymore.

I am beginning to think that a lot of people have this same issue and don't want to give up the scale. Just try it for a week, that is a good starting point.

Welcome to the challenge! Now we can just watch the weight come off when we do weigh! :)
