Hi there!
I've got this problem with a couple of squirrels who have gotten into a habit of eating all of my birdseed! I've tried putting seperate food out for them, but they just eat that and move onto the birdseed. I've tried to put a little squirrel guard on the birdfeeder post, but that hasn't worked.
Does anyone know how to discourage these little guys from eating my birdseed (and destroying my birdfeeder too!?!?) Any advice would be great! :flower:

I have squirrel baffles on my feeders and they work....you can buy them at birding stores or feed stores...anywhere that sells decent brid feeders.
Here is an interesting site

and a variety of baffles

Welcome, Pixiedusttravel! :flower3:
Is this the little scoundrel causing all the problems? I think I've seen him in my yard too! ;)

It's amazing the antics they'll go through, trying to get at the food!
As Vanessa posted, a hanging feeder with a baffle is your best bet. I've heard that if you have a pole feeder, greasing it with Vaseline helps.
Good luck! Let us know if you get a new feeder and how it works! :)

This might be a little extreme, but my mom will sometimes use a BB gun to chase away the squirrels from her birdfeeders. She uses the kind that you pump up to get more velocity on it and only pumps it up a little. Enough to give the squirrel a good sting, but not enough to really hurt them. She doens't do it much anymore since getting the baffles that amid chaos mentioned.

We have just given up....they eat the bird seed....the cat food for the wandering outdoor cats...they even drink out of the water dish left for the wandering cats.
The only thing that seems to deter them....the gas grill is right next to the bird feeder so they use it to jump up on...when the grill is hot....it can be kinda funny!
