My husband just heard on the news that Midway Airlines has filed bankruptcy! Has anyone else heard anything about this? We have our tickets for our Oct trip through this airline and are freaking out to say the least.

I also heard this on the Early Show on CBS this morning. They said that Midway has and is cancelling several flights. You may be able to find more information on CBS' website at CBS.com. Hope everything works out well for you.

I would cancel the reservation. If they won't give you back your money, hopefully you paid by credit card, dispute it with the credit card company.
Airlines who file for bankruptcy protection don't have a good history of coming out of it intact. Some have, but it's few and far between.
I would most definitely make alternate arrangements.

midway just said they were pulling out of the buffalo market this week......but nothing was said about bankruptcy.....
that is probably why they shut down " a good route" from buffalo to raleigh

Isn't this the 2nd time that Midway has declared bankruptcy? Here is some information on Midway's webpage regarding the cities that they have stopped serving effective today, and what to do if you hold tickets to or from those cities...

Well, we had reservations on Midway in Sept out of Columbus, and they put us on a later flight, and canceled the early one. Well, when I finally got through this morning, I told them this was unacceptable, and they canceled my reservations, and refunded the entire amount of the tickets. I booked on Delta for more, but it's now non-stop, and I get to add another day to my trip.:)

What to do????? We just booked on Midway yesterday from Raleigh to Orlando for Oct 29th and returning Nov 4th. Midway says it is not canceling its Florida routes--although some flights may be cancelled. Should we try to get a refund and book thru Delta??? I'm not a big fan of flying and Delta's equipment from RDU is a Comair regional jet seating about 50 people. Anybody ever flown this before???? Thanks for all the info.

I can't help you with the Midway issue, but I like the Comair jets. They are like a big plane with less congestion and you feel like you are on a jet not a prop plane in them.

I spoke with my travel agent today and she said that although she had some schedule changes, there had been none made to my flight. She said didn't thiink they would cancel the flights to Orlando. At any rate, my tickets carry a $100 cancellation penalty each (only paid $140 for each) so I can't really cancel. I guess I'm stuck and can only wait and pray!:(
