Someone on the board posted where to get the count down. I dont remember where. My mother keeps saying it's a year and a half away why are you planning now! So you are not the only one!!! LOL! Our daughter will be 8 at the time of sailing and this is our first cruise ever. Our daughter is looking forward to all the kid club activities.

To see who's cruisin' with us, go to post 2577-2580 on page 172. That has the most updated version. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=785829&page=172&pp=15

Post 2580 shows all the different activities that we have planned including t-shirts and wristbands.

My DD will say Hi to anyone who says it to her first! I remember reading the post about 16K I almost died too!
I cant wait to see Castaway Cay. It sounds so nice. My husband wants to scuba dive in Nassau and DD wants to go to the kids club. So I will enjoy the day relaxing in the sun.
I think I want to do Palo's Champagne Brunch. I especially want to try the Champange and Strawberries.
This trip came about for us because nothing else was on TV and we were watching the Travel channel and they had the Disney Cruise line on and DD said I want to do that.
I thought the 7 day would be to much because we never cruised and the 3 too short so we will try the 4 and if we like it (which I bet we do) we will do the 7 day.

Ker-Bear
05-20-2005, 05:03 PM
My parents are experienced cruisers and they took DS on the 3 day and said it wasn't enough. However, they also thought the 7 day might be too much it would just depend on who you went with. The 4 night seemed like the right fit for me although I like all the extra activities of the 7 night. When I found out they added the brunch I was very excited about the 4 night because I had heard so many wonderful comments about it. I saw the show on DCL on Travel Channel too. I have the 2004 planning kit and just ordered the 2005 DVD so I am interested in seeing if it looks any different. All I know is that it can't get here soon enough.

Hope you have a great weekend. It's going to rain here in SC most of the time so I probably will get a bunch of down time in and some cleaning done!

purplern
05-21-2005, 10:21 AM
No one in our family has ever cruised before.
I, too , can not wait for it to get here.
I have the 2005 DVD it is really nice!
Have a nice weekend. It is suppose to rain here in PA too!

We are going to have a blast!!!
See you then

Thanks for your e-mail. Of course being computer challenged I have yet to figure it out. I have asked the webmaster for assistance so I am sure she has some rule books for dummies.

Hope you had a great weekend. Thanks for the info.

I found the countdown clock that I could actually navigate! My parents booked on Wednesday so we will be a party of 5. ::yes:: They got booked into 2583 but I have to check to see if that's a good room. It's a connector and I am hoping to have them moved since we won't be connecting to them. Supposedly connector's are very noisy. If they have to be in a connecting room I will probably switch my cabin to connect with them.

Hope you have a great Memorial Day!

Ker-Bear
06-01-2005, 01:05 PM
Okay, the rooms are all squared away. I will be in 2607 and 2609 with my family and unless DCL upgrades us, that's where we will be. I can't wait!

purplern
06-01-2005, 01:11 PM
You and me both!!!! I think we are going to make reservations for the Palo Brunch.

Ker-Bear
06-02-2005, 10:19 AM
I am definitely doing the brunch. I think I might do the dinner on the 3rd night, then go to the Pirates Party if they still have it. As it stands now, you do the same restaurant on the 3rd and 4th night. If that changes then I will change my night but we will have to wait and see. Found out about a cool resort to go to Wyndham Cable Beach in Nassau that doesn't cost anything to use. They are on the beach and have a pool with a slide. DS doesn't want to do dolphins. Says he's scared. He loves the beach so we will probably just do that.

purplern
06-02-2005, 11:42 AM
Sounds like fun. My DD doesnt like the beaches. She has eczema and sometimes it's really bad and the water and sand bothers it. So she wants to do the kids club, DH want to scuba dive. So I get to relax and do nothing!!!!!!!

Ker-Bear

I am interested to see if we get anymore early planners on our thread. I spent the weekend on Tybee Island, GA relaxing and enjoying the beach. I can't wait to experience Castaway Cay! The water was way too cold for swimming this weekend. I am hoping the Caribbean is much better. Heading to Miami in three weeks to get some sun on South Beach and watch the Braves play the Marlins. After that, no vacation until the Wonder. It will be a long year, that's for sure.

purplern

I cant wait to see Castawat Cay either it sounds so nice!
Have fun in Miami.

Hello all! I just wanted to check out your thread as our family may be sailing with you! I guess I should call the travel agent (TA) first and request quote changes.... :earseek: Well, there's five of us total DH, myself, DD-5, DS 3, and DD-2. Well, I better get on the phone before you flood me with questions. One tip for you newbie DISers, try to keep your cruise meet thread on page 1! Even if you have to leave a "bump" post, it will keep the thread on or close to page one and your post count will go higher. So, consider my post, a bump to your thread.

I'll keep you all posted on our POSSIBLE sailing with you all.

I'm not the most organized person in the world, but if ONE of you could keep a running list of DIS cruisers for Sept. 3-7 it would be nice to have a list of all who are going and whoever else is sailing with them.
For example:
taeja71 :earsgirl:

DD- princess:
DS- pirate:
DD- princess:
Have a great day all and keep on posting!

Ker-Bear

This is a 4 night Wonder cruise

My reservation on Disney Cruise.com says September 3, 2006 and when I checked to try and make a reservation it said September 3rd.

Maybe you were actually seeing the 2005 dates, which would be the 2nd.

I wish it was a private cruise, however I am sure there will be lots of people on board due to the great rates and it being Labor Day weekend.

Hope you can go during that time. I highly recommend Tom at All Seasons Travel to assist with the planning. Got the best rate there as well.

Good Luck

Purplern , How old will your DD be when you're on the cruise?

Ker-ber, looks like our kids will be together (I need to get a new quote NOW!)! Oceaneer club is for ages 3 to 7 and the Oceaneer lab for ages 8-12.

Mentally, I'm already planning for this cruise. My MIL may be sailing again with us. According to my DH, my MIL sounded a little sad that her name wasn't mentioned when he told her our family might be going on DCL again. I love it when Grandma goes!

Purplen's DD will be 8 at the time of sailing I think. The age groups are 3-4, 5-7, 8-10, and 11-12 I think. I know for sure the 5-7 because that's what DS will be in. So our kids should be in the same group. Last year DS didn't like the clubs so much. He is shy and won't just walk up to a kid and start playing. I figured if I introduced him, then he would know someone to play with and have a blast. Definitely hoping for a cruise meet.

I'm assuming you booked. I know for sure that I am crazy with this advance planning. Interested to see who else plans this far in advance!

:idea: Vicki and Kerry, have you thought about door signs for your family? Its a way to dress up your magnetic stateroom door so that you can find your room a little easier. My kids had a blast decorating the laminated mats w/ the foam stickers. One suggestion I have is, if you have young kids, make a sign w/ their individual names on it. My DD did not want to give her sign to Grandma as it had her name on it too. I printed out my sheet, had the 81/2 x 11 page laminated, put magnetic strip tape on the back, and then the kids did the stickers. I couldn't use the Mickey pictures as I was out of color ink. :( So, I improvised!

taeja71

I love you door signs!!!!! They look great. I will definitely be attempting to do something like that. Unfortunately, arts and crafts are not my strong point so I am not sure mine will come out as good. Glad to see I am not the only person addicted to these boards.

What do you recommend to do in nassau? We very well may stay on the boat but I really want to go to Blue Laggon Beach or Atlantis.

YES! Whoops! Sorry ladies! Yes, we're booked for two connecting rooms (2579 and 2581). They're midship on the second floor. My MIL will be sailing with us again and she is so excited as are we!

Oh ya, since I'm going, I'll volunteer to make the master list of sailers for the 9/3/06. It will give me a ligit reason to be "working" on our thread ;). If any one else wants to take over this task, just let me know. I will have no problem stepping aside.. So, if you could, here's the information I have so far for you. If you could PM me, e-mail me, or even post on this thread the missing information for your group that would be great. As new posters come along I'll add them and their family/ friends to the master list...ready to get started...here we go!

Vicki aka Purplern

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT FOR LATER:
As we get more people onboard this thread and closer to the cruise we should brainstorm about if/where we want to meet once onboard the Wonder. Here's a thread w/ great responses about where other DISers met http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=839585. It would really be nice to match the screen name w/ a face. Should we wear lime green the first day? Should we have a Alien green mickey head contest? You can go to Home Depot to attain the paint chips. FYI- Alien Green is the official DISboard color.

As some/most of us will be traveling to Port Carnival we should have at least two people to call those who are traveling about any Hurricane reports or changes by DCL. So, that means we'll have to exchange cell phone numbers before every one leaves home. :hourglass Don't freak out, we've got time on our side and we can chat about these and other things later. :hourglass

:teleport: I'm so excited about our trip! :hyper:

Sorry guys. I spent my weekend living it up and didn't get to the computer. My extra wonderful boyfriend got me 2 1/2 hours worth of body wrap/massage for my birthday so I spent Saturday morning at the most devine spa. We are definitely doing the open air cabana couples massage on castaway cay. I love massages! Then we participated in a scavenger hunt Saturday night with about 30 other people and came in second! Sunday I recovered and went to see Batman Begins. Great movie!!!!

taeja71: Thank you for doing the master list. I love someone who is ultra organized, I love to plan but sometimes the details stress me out. Here is our crew:

DBF: Kevin, 35 (36 at sail date)
Me: Kerry, 33 (34)
DS: Jared, 5 (7)
Mom: Stephanie- probably wouldn't want her age posted!
Dad: Ron

Between now and then, my good friend, her daughter and parents may join in. That decision will probably be much later down the road. Then don't plan much :confused3

I am all up for a Dis meet. Not so sure I can convince anyone to wear the alien green t-shirts but you never know. My DS and DBF would pretty much do anything for me, my parents (okay my dad) is the big question. :rotfl:

I can't wait to get 2,000 posts. We will even if we do it ourselves!

Have a great Monday!

Happy Birthday Kerry! I am glad you didn't spend any time in front of the computer. Seems like your DBF likes spoiling you....that's great! You said, "I love someone who is ultra organized, I love to plan but sometimes the details stress me out." Ultraorganized I am not and by the time embarkation comes around I will definately be  after putting our list together. I hope your good friend, her daughter and parents join us!

I'm hoping some one would like to set up our DISmeet. It involves gathering a census of when and where?? Any of you up for that task?

I think it would be cool to have a mickey head competition, but I don't think Home Depot would like the idea of thousands of mickey head paint chips missing. I just envision some one wearing tons of lime green mickey heads all over their shirt. Wouldn't that be cool to see?! I'm crazy, I know. We could have a creativity game. Who uses the mickey heads most creatively (like making a mickey head lei/necklace). Hmmmm....another idea to bring to the table as our group gets larger.

Vicki, I'm glad you watched the DCL show. It's a great show. There's another show, "The Perfect Proposal" that for a whole week the show had proposals aboard the Magic I think it was. There was one proposal where the couple (and her son/daughter) dressed up in Belle like costumes. They did a little plot w/ a cast member and then the DBF at the time got on one knee and proposed to the DGF. It was sooo cute it made me cry. I'm pretty sure there were threads about "Perfect Proposal" here on the DISboards so search for that if you want to find out more.

Glad every one had a great weekend! I gotta go, post 'ya later!

If you keep the master list I will attempt to organize a DIS meet. Once we get more on our thread we can figure out what's best. A creativity contest I would lose but I will try my best. I am typically up for just about anything so my motto is "give it a whirl, you might like it". I have no idea what the mickey lime green paint chips even are so I guess I would have to start there. I go on vacation next week so after Friday you guys will be alone on the thread without me. To be frank, I need this cruise to come faster!!!! 1 year of dreaming about booking and 14 months left waiting for it!!! Although excited about my trip next week it will not be the same as being on the Wonder. Okay, I don't know what being on the Wonder is like but I am sure it beats the heck out of any vacation I have to plan all the activities for :goodvibes

Anyway, I am hoping the Wonder puts DBF in a "Perfect Proposal" kind of mood next year. Just have to keep my fingers crossed :rolleyes1

If you keep the master list I will attempt to organize a DIS meet. Once we get more on our thread we can figure out what's best. :goodvibes Anyway, I am hoping the Wonder puts DBF in a "Perfect Proposal" kind of mood next year. Just have to keep my fingers crossed :rolleyes1 I put some kind of comment about Kevin in my telling about the "Perfect Proposal", but I erased it b/c I didn't want to step on any toes (I already did that on another thread). Glad to see you are hoping the same thing for 9/06. That's great Kerry you'll be our DIS meet leader. I excited about our meeting face to face already! I also noticed your signature line. You added our cruise thread! AWESOME!

Ker-Bear also wrote:" I have no idea what the mickey lime green paint chips even are so I guess I would have to start there." Alien Lime Green (from Home Depot) is the official DIS color. There's even a DIS online store being created w/ lime green every thing. People use the lime green mickey chips (the paint chips are literally the shape of mickey's face and ears) as name tags, for the door signs, for luggage tags, probably a bunch of other uses. The paint chip has a square backing on it, but people just seperate the two pieces and use the mickey face itself. You'll see what I mean if you look at my door sign again. The paint chip also let's other DISers know you are a DISer too. Am I making sense? My brain is not fully awake.

Vicki, Hope you had a great Monday! I'm scared to ask about Batman b/c I actually may want to go see it! I'm trying to keep myself from asking any questions.... :rolleyes1

when I get back I will definitely go to Home Depot (even though I totally prefer Lowe's) and check this out. I really like the t-shirt idea. I figure on the first day it would help everyone identify the wonderful (and maybe a little wild & crazy?) DISer's on board. Plus, my parents live in Daytona Beach so we will be at the port the earliest possible moment to take in the whole experience.

TaeJa: One thing I was thinking about is an adults only meet at one of the clubs on one of the nights. I saw on one of these threads they are testing making Wavebands non-smoking (don't flame me if I have the wrong club; I have read so much stuff on the Wonder and the Magic in my one year quest that I mix them up at times) I have a hard time dealing with smoke, but though it would be fun if we all get together one night like on 70's or 80's night if they still have it. Didn't know if DISer's would be up to that. Between the kids club and my parents I will have lots of babysitters. Of course Mom and Dad may want to join in! Just a thought!

As for my perfect proposal, I know he is going to marry me, I just think he is saving up for the ring so hopefully 14 months is plenty of time!!!!

Okay ladies, brace yourselves......

Tom my TA from All Seasons Travel (the best TA ever!) called to tell me that DCL has put a freeze on making any changes to our cruises reservations and is no longer accepting reservations for our cruise and the ones for a few weeks after. :confused3 :sad2:

Tom says they have not released why so all he can do is speculate on the possible scenarios. So here is what he thinks:

1) Changing the itinerary- this could be okay just would depend I suppose

2) Dry Dock- which would explain the weeks of blackout dates

He said that if the cruise is canceled, DCL should (key word here being should) offer alternative options. He also said that DCL typically is very generous when they do things like cancel cruises and if we were flexible it could potentially be to our benefit.

So...I absolutely promise to keep you abreast of any changes Tom notifies me about.

Posted a thread in the discussion forum. Some feedback received is they block a large range of dates for someone taking the entire ship and since they haven't specified they blocked a big chunk. Aug 11th-Sept 22nd 2006

Speculation is another DVC cruise. Apparently that is what they are doing this Labor Day and that is how it went down last year. They blocked out dates then picked and when they chose the dates the other passengers were notified.

I am so not happy if that's the case. If DVC gets the boat DCL better offer some huge incentives for dumping on us. Anyway, the two scenarios from Tom sounded much better than DVC getting our cruise. well, I guess I will be depressed for a little while and get over it. What else can you do....

No kidding, me too. I'll take a 7 day for a 4 day price! We'll FIND a way to take the extra time off. My awesome husband typed in on DCL's cruise site and the dates that were blacked out for him were 8/31/06- 9/24/06. Either way you look at it using Kerry's dates or ours- our 9/3/06 may be effected. I hope our trip won't get cancelled!

Kerry, great job on keeping us updated and thanks for starting that thread!

Tom from All Seasons called me at home last night and said that DCL shifted the blackout dates and we can now make changes to our ressies or book a new reservation. He said he still doesn't know what's going on and if they do anything that affects our cruise he will let me know. We are good to go as of 8:17am EST on 6/23. Apparently DCL is up to something and is having a hard time figuring out the dates to do whatever it is they are trying to accomplish. :confused3 :confused3

I've heard references to DCL coming thru for you when they bump you ---- is 7 night for price of 4 night a real possibility for guests bumped b/c of charter or dry dock?

I doubt they'll give us a 7night for a 4night price. My DH told me last night he read on the DISboard that some one who got bumped by DVC last year received two catagory upgrades and they ended up going a week later on their cruise. I'm not sure which thread my DH found that on. Here's the thread (that 26555 started) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=844602.

BTW 26555, I just have to ask, are you sailing with our group? If you are, how exciting!

Side note: :earseek: Ladies, I am freaking out about my son's birthday party. It's supposed to be really hot on Saturday and our subdivision has no established trees. We're going to have the sprinkler and a pool blown up, water guns diguised as cute fish and birds, but I hope the kids don't get too over heated. I'm still freaking out about my son's party as I still haven't started putting together the party good stuff. It's all in a bag waiting for me to do some thing with it. Yep, I'll be there but I feel odd admitting it since I haven't even told family yet. I have to wait until closer to 2006, I'll be razzed about both booking very early and doing a Disney thing again. Now that I've booked, I'm going to try to forget about it for awhile so I don't have to deal with 14 months of anticipation! I've got a couple more Orlando trips to think about first, anyway.

I haven't answered your question b/c I forget where we are staying. My DH found us a hotel near DW, but I can't recall the name. We usually try and Priceline or Hotwire for a place that usually lands us some where around Orlando drive, but this time, we actually made a reservation directly.

Do you usually stay on property when you go to WDW?

We're Disney nuts over here in CA! We all have AP's for Disneyland (even though we're a seven hour drive away) and have already been twice this year, going again in 11 days! WOO HOO!

I'm in need of a vacation desperately bad! :mickeybar

As far as cabins go on DCL: Do you think it would be better to book 2 cat 11's or just one cat 10 for 4 adults? The price is very close ($170 more for 2 cat 11's) just not sure what we should do.

Ker-Bear
07-03-2005, 10:58 AM
Jenn- Welcome. I grew up in Florida and my parents have cruised in September many times. They are veterans. The seas are typically calm and the best place to be in bad Florida weather (I won't say the "H" word) is on a cruise ship. They actually can go around a storm. I would book to two 11's. If you need a good TA I have one. He will help you find the best cabin and location. Although the cabin's are slightly larger on DCL 4 adults will be cramped in one cabin. For the small difference, two cabins would be worth it. My parents and I have have connecting cabins, that way we still feel like we are in the same cabin!

Vicki- I am back although technically on vacation in Hilton Head now. Took a detour Kevin's friends have a place here and invited us for the 4th. We will have to keep the thread on page one while TaeJa is gone.

I will post again on Tuesday. Happy 4th of July everyone! :Pinkbounc

let me say that coming back to work after 10 days in a row off pretty much stinks. How am I ever going to get off a Disney Cruise and come back? :confused3

Hope you all had a safe and happy holiday. I had a terrific vacation and I can not wait to start obsessing about my next one :earboy2: My dad was visiting right before we left and said he definitely wants to do the Dolphin Swim in Nassau so we will be swimming with Flipper! I am so excited.

Let's keep this thread on page one while TaeJa is gone.

My friend is in the hospital and she was supposed to get out today. Of course, the doctor says no. The funny thing is that there is nothing wrong with her. They fixed what she went to the emeregency room and I am sure they are keeping her there because they want the insurance money.

Can I go on my cruise now? :crazy2:

My first day back to reality has been interesting. I have a job interview for a promotion tomorrow morning so wish me luck! I could use more $$$$ to take on our cruise! :rotfl:

I would not doubt it one bit! The doctors at the hospital I work at have found that they get more money if their patient has to be monitored. So needless to say, everyone gets admitted to a monitored bed!
Good luck on your interview!!!!!!

I am thinking about booking direct with dolphinswims.com or using shoretrips.com I am not sure which is better. When it gets closer I will look for feedback on the Boards. DCL's price is so much higher that it just doesn't make sense to book through them.

Thanks for the pixie dust. Hoping it all works out. Could use the extra cash!

I heard when you go to the sailaway party they have these frozen drinks called "Miami Vice" It is pina colada and strawberry daiquri (sp?) layered in a glass. I have seen pictures on this site and let me tell you...I want one now! :drinking1 Why is it that whenever you are interested in another position your current employer all of a sudden becomes a pain? :scratchin

Anyway, the picture of Castaway Cay on my computer wallpaper is the only thing that got me thru today. I was thinking "I will soon have a glorious day in that paradise, no matter what this stinky place does to me!" :boat:

Hoping you all faired better this hump day. I am off to visit my friend in the hospital and then return home to relax and read a good book. DS is on vacation with his dad and grandparents so I am still relaxing without the little man. Although I miss him terribly

I used to work that shift. It was may first supervisory job out of college. We affectionately called it the graveyard shift. Especially since we all agreed we lived like vampires. Bring lots of coke/coffee/red bull to get you through.

Hope you have a smooth night.

Where do you work? If you don't mind... It almost sounds like you work at a hotel. That's where I worked and those were the shifts.

Hope TaeJa had a great vacation. I am so glad it's the weekend. My DS comes back tomorrow and I am really looking forward to it. :Pinkbounc

I love watching your countdown clocks. Although 13 months and three weeks sounds better, I like the day countdown timer better. I just couldn't figure out how to get it to work so I settled. I am thinking about making a "number of days left" pull off countdown for my apartment when we get to 90 days out. :hourglass That way I know how much longer I have to shop and organize! I am waiting until 2006 to get the PassPorter. I have last year's when I thought I would go this year. Not buying the 2005 edition since I will go so late in '06.

Another weekend of activities. Although I love the summer, it can get hectic not having any down time. I am thinking I need to take a nap on Sunday to recover. Otherwise coming back to work may be too much for me to handle. :charac2: I know poor me. I guess I should look at the fact my job is helping pay for my Wonder trip and just use that as an appreciation tool. :earboy2:

Vicki, my friend is a nurse and she loves working ER. Here they make them work 12 hour shifts and since she is a single mom she had to stop because of the hours. She is trying to get back into it and hopefully it will work out. If they were 8 hour shifts it might be easier.

Due to hurricane DS got home later. Had to leave out of Ft Lauderdale instead of Fort Myers. We went to a friends and hung out for a little bit. Yesterday we went to their neighborhood pool. It had two different size diving boards. Apparently that was enough incentive for my DS to swim without floaties :rotfl: He finally did it. Took off the floaties and just starting swimming like a fish. It was wild. I stayed in the water with him and "caught" him as he went off the diving board. Just reached out my hand to make sure he came back up. It was awesome. Came home and watched "Are We There Yet" (he got it for his birthday) ate some pizza and just relaxed. We were both exhausted.

Hope you had a great weekend!

TaeJa: If you are back, let us in on how your vacation went.

07-11-2005, 09:55 AM
Thank God we dont have to do 12 hours. We can if we want but I cant! With my DH working shifts someone needs to be with the kids. Besides I cant last 12 hours. I like the ER to, would never go back to the floor.

Sounds like you guys had fun! Good for your son!!! DD loves to swim too!

I can't believe after being away a week the laundry is piled so high. I even did laundry while on vacation to AVOID doing more laundry at home. Aurgh!

Hello to all and are there any new 9/3/06 cruisers out there? Did you all see Jenn31's post about the possible charter cruise? CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG (please), if they don't get their act together DCL will open the blocked dates 7/31/05. :cheer2: Was that the right day Jenn31?

Sorry about the laundry. Unfortunately it's one of the prices you pay to go on vacation. ::yes::

Question for you all: If you could only do one, would you do Palo brunch or Palo dinner? I am not sure I could do both although I want to try. What do you think? :listen:

Wasnt Jenn31 going to WDW? :confused3
I hate laundry! Well I dont mind doing it I just hate putting it away! :rotfl:

Kerry I think we are going to do the brunch. Since this is our first cruise I dont want to miss the regular dinning rooms. The brunch is on the sea day DD wants to do the kids club so she can eat with the kids club and we can eat at Palos. JMHI :Pinkbounc

Wish we were leaving tomorrow! :boat:

I hope we'll pick up new cruisers once the locked dates are opened up. I feel like we are the only DISers cruising at this point.

Palo brunch or Palo dinner....I'd pick brunch. You might be able to see the ocean out the huge bay windows. Dh and I went to Palo dinner and it was pitch black out the windows Plus, there was a glare on the windows from the lights inside so you couldn't see any stars. :( I think brunch would be cool. As you noted Ker-bear, you wouldn't miss any of the dinner rotations.

I hope Jenn31 will post about her trip to DL. I am in need of a Disney fix.

I think Brunch as well. I really want to have dinner every night with DS so we can spend time together. I know he will do the kids clubs during the sea day so that would be perfect. I may try for dinner but who knows. The brunch sounds wondeful but so does the dinner.

Have you heard about the new "trial" dinner seating times? 5:45pm seems too early to me. Not sure what the late seating time is?

My mom says that her and dad prefer the early seating because with late seating you are too full when you go to bed. My issue is that I thought 6pm was early. 5:45pm seems impossible. I want to stay on Castaway Cay as long as I possibly can. Of course I think that's 4pm but with three people to get ready in my cabin and wanting to get pictures...okay I like to eat later. 5:45pm sounds too early. If the late is at 7:45 that is probably still too late for my parents and I may just have to deal. I guess the up side is that I will have plenty of room for the midnight buffet night :cloud9:

MMMmmmm, the midnight buffet. :cloud9:

Kerry- would your parents be upset if you just told them you'd see them later if they decided to leave CC early? Trust me there will be events where you all get split up. I actually got to roam a deck by myself (I was too afraid to get lost).

I went to Walmart yesterday and noticed some cute mickey mouse cookies. They're vanilla cookies shaped in the mickey head shape, but the top of the head is dipped in chocolate in the shape of the mickey mouse hat. Hey, kinda like this ----> :earsboy: They were very tempting.

Who makes these cookies? My child would have spotted them if our Wal-Mart had them I am sure. Every week he picks out a "treat" for his lunch box for camp. Typiccally he picks cookies. Let me know the brand name. I may have to pick a box up this weekend. :earboy2:

I posted a thread and got lots of info on the seating situation. No one could confirm they made it permanent but I think I understand. Currently they are repeating restaurants on the 2nd and 3rd night. So I definitely will do Palo on night 2 and brunch on sea day if this remains in force. Day 2 we will all be together doing the Dolphin Swim so I won't feel bad bailing on DS for a romantic dinner with DBF (can you say Perfect Proposal  )

Based on your rotation (or where you repeat) your seating times are either 5:45, 6:00 or 6:15pm. The 6:00 repeats Parrot Cay (my first choice) the 6:15 repeats Tritons (my second choice) looks like Animators Palate is 5:45. Now this is if what was posting is right. I hope it stays this way. ::yes::

Have a great day. We fell to page two so I thought I would bump us up!

Wow, our cruise date is the only one active/open so far? C'mon DIS cruisers, leave your posts here! Let's chat about our cruise and current events. :teeth:

I saw that thread about the dining rotations. Kerry, I don't know if you started it or not. I think the dining times would be confusing if you wern't paying attention to the time. I can see myself questioning when I was supposed to be at dinner or not. What about the wait staff? I WONDER how chaotic that would make it for them? Imagine the kitchen staff- they'd probably be going crazy-Aahhh!

I found the Mickey head shaped cookies on the end cap of the icecream isle. I wouldn't be surpised if the cookies were in the cookie isle as well at Walmart.

Don't know how much I can post today. My youngest DD's has had a 102 temp since yesterday afternoon. She's real clingy right now and super sensitive. She's already putting my patience to the test. I hope she'll take a long nap today; that would be nice. :cloud9:

When is everyone flying in the day of or the day before?

Right now we are flying in the day of through DCL but We are going to cancel their air and get it on our own.

Ker-Bear
07-14-2005, 03:29 PM
We are driving down the Friday night before. It's only a 5 1/2 hour drive so it should be good. My parents live in Daytona Beach so we are leaving Sunday morning from their house to get to the port as soon as they let us into parking. Going to the beach on Saturday to get in the mood. I just don't want to drive on Saturday since it's a holiday weekend. Plus I want to be relaxed and in a vacation state of mind :drinking1 Not that I am a lush but I like to party when I get the chance. Built in babysitter with the "grandparents"!

I would absolutely fly down the day before. You could get there later than expected and not have the time on the ship. I am taking DS to the Mickey pool as soon as we board and eat lunch. We will meet you there if you want!!!! Plus we will probably have a DIS meet before the lifeboat drill so you want to be there for that don't you? :teeth:

Southwest and Independence Air have the best deals. Check them out and watch for promos as it gets closer. September is actually a slow tourism month for Florida believe it or not. Stay at the Radisson at the Port. They have the coolest pool  I might even stay there now that I am thinking about it. they have free parking I believe. Hmmmm something else to plan! :rotfl:

TaeJa: hope your DD feels better soon. I hate it when DS is sick because I feel so bad for him. Good luck on the nap!

I want to be that way too before boarding. We'll be driving down to FL. It will take us a couple days, but its not too bad of a drive. We stayed at the Wyndam on our last trip. That was very nice as well. There was a infant/toddler pool and then next to it was the larger pool. Both pools were by the cabana bar where they were playing live jazz music. It was so pleasant sitting and playing with the kids under the night sky listening to relaxing music. The fountains there are beautiful. You know, the Wyndam is right on the corner of Orlando Blvd. and you never heard the traffic or noticed the 'outside world'. I won't talk about the 80's early 90's decor in our room though.

Kerry, what's the Radisson's pool like? Were the rooms nice?

Vicki- have you thought about where you would like to stay the night before?

Hope every one's having a great day! :teeth:

see what I mean about the pool. You will also be able to see the Wonder from the hotel. They have all different rooms and it has a carribbean (sp?) theme to it's rooms. Pretty nice. Coming from the hotel industry I have high standards. Of course my only requirement is that it is clean. Usual only sleep in a hotel room (and other adult things when no kids are around :goodvibes )
so I don't care too much about what it looks like.

You can see the Radisson from one of the Port Canaveral webcams. I can't think of the exact one right now, but yes, I've seen the green slated roof before. That pool looks nice too. I agree about the hotel rooms; as long as they are clean and in good cond. I don't care what they look like while I ' m sleeping. .

Vicki- You'll probably want to get a shuttle or taxi to take you to the port. If I had room in my van I'd pick your family up in a heart beat. Unfortunately, one wouldhave to sit on the luggage, one would have to squish between two car seats, and another would have to sit on the floor.

Look at post #2 on the thread link I'm providing.http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=861448. The topic is, Hotels near the port...

Radisson offers free shuttle to boat and free parking Vicki! Whoohoo!

I saw that thread. Copy and pasted it! We are still trying to decide. I read on Dave's dcl tribute web site about the hotels he recommends and in the Passporter. I guess it would be a lot cheaper to just rent a car for the day and return it at the port instead of paying 50 each for Disney's transportation! Or we could stay at the Hyatt at the airport and still use Disney's ground transportation. Decisions, Decisions!!

The Wyndham on I-Drive is awesome. The company I used to work for used to manage it. Have been there many times. I would stay at one of the hotels at the port. They almost all provide shuttle service to the port. In the passporter and I am sure on a thread somewhere it talks about shuttle service from the airport. I am not great at searching for threads. I usually just post my own and get the info. I know I am a pain! I remember seeing something about a vey good inexpensive shuttle service from the airport to the port area. It's not that far.

Now if you want to spend a day or two in Orlando, I recommend the Wyndham as well. Very conveniently located not too expensive and clean. The Embassy Suites is nice too (used to work there in college) it's on I-drive and includes comp cocktail hours and free fully cooked breakfast. Most of the limited service hotels by th airport are brand new. I think the Hilton Garden Inn is the best one but they are all pretty much the same. Since I lived in Orlando for 7 years I can pretty much tell you about all the cool places to stay. Just ask and I will do my best to inform. Keep in mind I can be a little baised. I hate Hyatt and think they are ridiculously overpriced. Plus they treat their employees like dog poop so they will never get any of my hard earned cash.

OK! They did seem a tad bit high! Now I just thought of something else! I'll have to run this by DH, but if we are going to rent a car anyway (can you all see it coming). Come in Friday night after DD gets out of school. Spend Friday and Saturday at a Disney resort, not necessicarly at the parks, hang at the hotel do DTD. Then head for the Port early Sunday. HMMMMMM :scratchin :rolleyes1

I like that idea the best. Some of the Disney hotels are a vacation all by themselves. Although how do you get an 8 year old that close to WDW and not take her?

I think I would have to bring DS into Magic Kingdom, even if it was only for half a day. It would kill him if we didn't

Sounds like a plan. Now all you have to do is put it in action. You could always start saving a little on the side and then magically appear with the money to fund your idea :rotfl: of course you can see why I'm not married anymore right! :rotfl2:

I just know that I can't wait to be cruising....

It's too hot and steamy to do anything. My glasses are getting all steamed up and b/c of the humidity it feels like I've been sweating all day. Blech!

I feel like I need a vacation and I've only been home a little over a week. Too bad life can't be like one big vacation. No chores, clean laundry and dishes all the time, my house wouldn't look the way it does.... o.k, moving on now.

Sure wish I was at WDW or DL. Sigh. Better yet, as you ladies have stated before, sure wish I was packing for our cruise.

I checked the thread asking who was cruising in '06 and only found Ker-Bear. I sure hope we pick up more DISers soon!

Just finishing runnig errands, doing laundry and cleaning. Heading over to the community pool because it is too hot to do anything else.

Vicki-sounds like a great plan. Thinking I may have to consider the same. How much fun to start the vacation a couple of days early at WDW. Was talking to DBF and he said "whatever you want honey" This is why I love him. So I can't decide-Beach before or WDW. The other thought is just take Friday off -we were planning on returning home Thursday- and go to WDW for a day or two. I guess we will have to see as it gets closer.

TaeJa-I looked at that thread yesterday as well. Surprised to not see any for our cruise. Oh well. I think this years Labor Day cruise has such a big thread because it's a DVC cruise. I do think that as it gets closer, other people will book. It is such a great time of year and you have the holiday that helps cutting down on the missed school and vacation day usage.

Well, hope you all have a great weekend. BTW, I went to WalMart today and no mickey mouse cookies. I looked everywhere. :sad2: I will keep my eyes open for them. Hope we get them soon!

I couldn't get myself to mow very fast as the heat was just gross. Have I mentioned the heat yet? Any way, we have family member's flying in for a family reunion this coming Sat. so, I'm desperately trying to make our house look nice. My house better look perfect in heaven b/c I don't plan on cleaning it.
You ladies have done a great job keeping our thread on page one and active. Ya'll got the DIS spirit for sure!

Isn't funny how we all get so compulsive about having a spotless house (with children, that's very funny :rotfl: ) when family come to visit. You know family is supposed to love you no matter what, dirty house and all. Oh well, I do the same thing. My house looks like a showroom when they arrive but then DS drags out every new toy he has received since they last saw him and the days worth of work is completely smashed to pieces in about 10 minutes :confused3

Try not to stress too much. it won't stay clean long enough to worry about it.

My parents new house is beautiful and a hop skip and jump from the beach. I have decided we will stay here before boarding. probably will take about 25 minutes to get to the port. Now to decide when we get off the ship. I really want to go to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. This year they have a ton of specials for September. If they have that next year, I think we will get off the ship and spend two days at WDW. I know you are suppose to do the opposite but we will buck the norm. Looks like we will stay at WL. Especially since I get to pick :rotfl:
