I know Weight Watchers leans heavily toward low-fat eating.

However I have a friend who just joined and is trying to make Weight Watchers work for him without overdosing on carbs.

I believe there are different point schemes within WW. Does anyone know which point scheme would work best with low-carb or moderate-carb eating? Any suggestions for my friend?

It sounds like your friend would want to follow the Core program. Core is more South Beachy than Atkinsy.

Under Core, you don't have to count daily points but you eat lots of fruits, veggies, lean meats, whole grains, low-fat or no fat dairy, Things like potatoes, cereal are restricted to once per day and bread is not on the core program at all. You do still get a 35 point allowance per week for extras, so if you have a piece of bread or something else not included in Core, you can count it toward your points.

I think you could also make the Flex program more lo-carb by restricting starchy foods and focusing on veggies, meats, etc. I've never read any specific points outline for that, though. Maybe someone else has some input on this?
