Our neighborhood is a wonderful area with many roads that curve around and intersect. So my evening walks can vary every day, depending on which way I turn. I don't totally trust that my pedometer is measuring correctly yet. But without actually driving in my car to measure the distance (which would get time-consuming if I changed route everyday), is there any way I can measure my distance?

I'm thinking in terms of a website where I can pull up a neighborhood and give it a list of cross-streets and the website will either 1) list distances between each intersection or 2) list the distance for the whole route. Either that or a website where I pull up a neighborhood and using my mouse, I click and drag my route and it measures that way. Unfortunately, I don't have specific addresses to plug in (unless I walk around with pen/paper and take notes while I'm walking, LOL).

Anyone know of a website or software to purchase that would help? Thanks!

I do not have the answer, but if it exists I would love to know.

We must all be on the same wavelength. I was also thinking that would be a great website.

Update for those who are interested....I haven't found a website yet, but a friend of mine indicates that Microsoft Streets & Trips software will do this. She tested her copy to do what I want (start at my house, click on intersections for my route, circle around through the neighborhood to get back to my house and give me total miles). This is what she says:

all I had to do was to click on an intersection (the software will know the address) and then click on 'Route', then on 'Add as stop' and it will continue to add to your route for as far as you want to go. For your own house you would click on 'Route' and then either 'add as start' or 'add as end'. I did a hypothetical route with about 8 different turns and it took me less than than a minute to do, all you have to know is where you turned.

Costco usually has Streets and Trips pretty cheap....the regular price is $34.99, then they had a $10 instant rebate and a $20 mail in rebate. Final cost - only $4.99!!!

Hope that helps! I'm off to see if I can find this software somewhere cheap (I don't have a Costco membership).

Thank you Pam!!!!

I will definitely look into this!

I asked my high tech brother since he usually knows of the lastest and greatest and his reply was to get one of those old fashioned map wheels you roll across a paper map! That would work, too!
