I have been struggling with weight issues for many years now....and recently I have decided that I need to do something about it!!
I wandered over here to the WISH board looking for thoughts & opinions on Weight Watchers...........I'm on the fence about joining for a few reasons......I'm not sure what to expect at meetings, it seems rather pricey (when I could be saving for WDW :) ), could I follow the program w/o attending weekly meetings etc....
I guess I'm just looking for opinions from people who've done WW & from others who have been successful without attending the meetings.
Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi Laura and WELCOME!! :sunny:

I just started last week going to WW meetings. I have struggled for years as well and the doctor has now given me 6 months to change my ways or else I will be facing medication for cholestral. So the expense is worth it to me.......hoping to see results this week. ;)

I decided to try the CORE and so far so good. Not as hard as I thought it would be.

I know there are several people that follow WW without attending a single meeting. I need that "Big Brother is Watching" feeling. :rotfl:

Research and follow your instincts. You are the only one who can decide. In the meantime we are all here to support each other. Just holler and we WILL be there. :grouphug:

Have a Magical Disney Day!! :earsboy:

I have done WW several times (after the birth of both sons) & more recently because my weight had gotten out of hand.. IMHO WW is the most healthy weight loss plan around... balanced, no restricted foods etc... (Btw I prefer the points version of WW)

You can follow the plan without going to the meetings but I find that actually going & getting weighed in is good motivation. You can even just go for the weighin & not stick around for the meeting if you're pressed for time... but it is a good motivator & you can pick up some really good tips.

I've also followed the plan without joining WW but have found it is easier to "cheat" without the accountablility... that being said - my finances are a bit tight right now so I'm currently just following the program w/out the meetings/weigh ins.

Feel free to pm if you want more info!

Hey Laura! I wanted to say Welcome! to WISH! I am not a "formal" programee so I am not able to advise on WW. I can tell ya that you will definitely find all the support you will ever need and also be the support that others need by coming here and posting.

Whatever it is you choose, the most important part of this is KNOWING you can do this! (and you can) Consider your choices ones of healthy choosing and don't use that d--- word. Know too that exercise and water are your friends!
:teeth:
Good luck on your journey. Come often, post lots!

Personally, I lost all 78.5 lbs doing WW online. Only went to 2 meetings, for free, to obtain some of their snack bars. :teeth: I agree it's a sensible, non-restrictive, day-to-day way of living, that you can handle even after you've reached your goal. :goodvibes I believe when I joined, it might have been maybe $30 or something, for registration and my first month, but it's been $15/month ever since...much cheaper than the $10 or $11/week meeting fee.

As for support and accountability, I come to WISH! ;) If I lie to anyone here, I'm only lying to myself, and that hasn't happened. There is always some kind of challenge that even I, as a maintainer, can join. :goodvibes WISH is here 24/7, and the meetings are only once a week. ;)

Best WISHes to you!!! :grouphug:

Joining on line?? That seems like a great alternative ::yes::
Thanks Kim, I just might try it that way.............I really want to use their system but I'm unsure about the meetings....online is a good alternative for
me.
