I can bring the prices for your list back from our trip in November. I plan on doing groceries on our way in on Saturday, and then again on our way to Daytona. I imagine I'll see a bit of price difference between the Disney area and a regular grocery store on our way to Daytona. I think we'll either go to Wal-mart or Publix, depending on where I plan to get tickets. I plan on taking alot of packaged snack foods, like granola bars, cereal, oatmeal, etc. but will like you be buying fresh fruit, milk and juice.
I really enjoyed meeting you and your family at the Niagara Dis meet. Hope the rest of your summer has been good. Can't believe the kids go back to school next week.:D

The best thing to do when shopping for food and stuff for a Disney trip,is to get it all at Wal-Mart.If you not sure of a Wal-Mart near Disney,it is about 5-6 miles out 192 which runs right through Kissimmee. If you go past OLd Town on your right, stay on 192 for about 3-5 more miles and Wal-Mart will be on your right. You can't miss it.We usually go there after we have checked into the resort and unloaded the car.We get misc things, focusing mostly on breakfast items that do not have to be refrigerated, such as croissants, bagels(put your cream cheese in your ice pail overnight),or have a small cooler and fill it with ice the night before, each night of course, and put a carton of milk in ice for cereal.THose are some thoughts.

Hi Ruth! Thanks a bunch for your post! WOW Nov trip is fast approaching! LUCKY YOU! I would appreciate any help you can give regarding the prices of groceries at any of the stores.
When we were in Daytona Beach in April, we shopped at the PUBLIX, it seemed to have good prices.
I've been to the Wal-Mart on 192 in 1998. Although I guess the prices are better than Goodings I still found the prices expense and I was conventing from Canadian funds. I didn't mind shopping at Goodings at all. I found the location great since we were staying at CBR, only about 6-7 minute drive. The WalMart is about 20 minutes. In 1998, we staying at Kids Village ~ Give Kids the World, only about one minute drive to WalMart, so we were at that WalMart all the time buying Disney stuff (now they were great prices and sand toys, water etc.,.) But I remember buying red peppers and grapes and they were a fortune!
ANY prices from any store will certaining help me budget for April 2002 trip! THANKS!

My pocket book will pick Walmart. We have shopped at Goodings for years not knowing where the walmart was. This year we found it. we bought more food and saved at least $100.00 over what we normally spent at Goodings . It will always be Walmart....

The main thing I can say about Goodings, is that it was close to WDW
and A/C. The prices wwere I thought, very high. I box of triscuts was 3.49.
I would go to the Wally's for better prices.

How far is the Walmart from the Orlando airport and/or POFQ?
SandraC

without traffic, it seemed about 35 minutes from the airport and 20 to WDW entrance.
This list came from my sister (aka llfowl). The new "Unofficial Guide" for 2002 has a price list comparison between Publix and Goodings. She gave me a few items for Goodings ... (Publix won't be open when we arrive)
one gallon of milk 3.99
Tropicana Original Orange Juice, 64 oz 3.99
Cheerios, 10 oz 4.09
Coca Cola 12-pack of cans 4.99
Chips Ahoy cookies, 12 oz 3.79
Bud 6-pack of cans 5.89
Sunbeam Old Fashioned white bread, 20 oz 1.99
Jif Creamy peanut butter, 12 oz 2.69
Welch's Grape Jelly, 18 oz 2.39

Hi everyone, this is a great thread. I have a question about location. We are taking the Town Car service from the airport to CR.Is the Walmart on the way? I want to make a grocery stop as we did 2 years ago. We stopped at I think a publix it was very small maybe it wasn't a publix) and the prices were not that great but from what I have read Goodings is much more $$$. When you stop with the Town Car service where do you suggest we ask them to stop. I want to make sure they have a good selection of wine/beer as well. I was amazed that last time I payed more for Orange Juice(tropicanna) in Florida than I do in Niagara.
MichelleTO, are you referring to Tiffany Towncar? If so, they won't stop at Wal-Mart. (I sent e-mail asking them and they said no because it takes too long.) Unfortunately, that means our only choice is Goodings because we arrive after Publix closes.

Hi Michelle, you must be getting so excited! I am getting excited for you and your family! The WalMart is about 20 minutes drive past WDW from the airport. I think Goodings is the closest to WDW. We drove to Goodings at Crossroads from CBR and it tooks about 7 minutes. Lots of lights of the way. If you compare Goodings prices to restaurant meals than you will feel better paying. I work out the following for our next trip:
Goodings: peanut butter, jam, 2 loafs of bread, bag of choc chip cookies, milk, Cheerios, fruit will come to about $18.00 USF, ($29.00 CDN) that will feed us several breakfasts and lunches. We are a family of 4! I will bring Glad wrap, granola bars, fruit rolls up from home. So it's not as bad as all that, I think anyway.
Chat soon!

This is sort of along the same lines. I was wondering if anyone knows of a website where I can order food and have it at the hotel when we arrive. We are not getting in until later afternoon on Sunday and I would really like to just kick back, relax and not have to worry about running around for food.

I have ressie with tiffany in Oct. In the ad it says
Tiffany offers an optional courtesy grocery stop which MUST reserved in advance! A stop
can be made at Publix or Albertsons. No stops at Goodings unless it is after 10pm in the
evening.
What is the price different of Publix compared to Albertson?
Which is cheaper?

If you're only getting a few items, say, cereal, milk, maybe some chips, water, where would you recommend getting these items? I don't want DH to have to hunt for a place. He's flying down the day before we are.
SandraC

If he only needs a few things, it's not worth leaving the resort at all. He'll pay more but not much more considering the time he'll save. We stayed at CBR in April and I bought baby food, milk, juice, cookies at the CBR shops. If was very very very very convenient. I think I paid about $1.50 for half a litre of milk and babyfood was .99 a small jar, but I ran out of baby food so I was thrilled CBR had it, I would have paid ANYTHING for it, so .99 was a deal to me.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. DH will have time when he arrives and if something is on the way from the airport to POFQ, he'd like to stop. All he has to do that day is check in (arriving at 10:30am) the resort and run over to the Swan/Dolphin.

There is a wonderful Albertson's on Orange Blossom Trail on the way in from the airport. It is just right off the Parkway (toll road). Their prices are similar to Publix, but it is really convenient to stop there on the way in, and not have to go as far as Publix or Walmart. I used the Walmart on 192 in July, and yes, it was some cheaper, (well, lots cheaper than Goodings), but it was a madhouse - even in the parking lot! I am not sure about Tiffany but I know Atlantis Towncar service stops at the Albertson's I mentioned. In fact, once when I used Atlantis instead of a rental car, I faxed my order to Albertson's and they had it ready for me to pick up. I paid while the driver loaded my groceries into the car. Simple!!

Beth,
Why would Publix be closed?! If so, when? I assume you mean the one at 2925 International Dr*

TinkerbellRules - Tell your husband to look for the Orange Blossom Trail exit ramp from the toll Road. I can't remember how far it is from the airport, sorry, but he will exit to the right, and go straight for a very short distance, and the Albertson's will be on his right in a shopping center. This is a very new looking area. Then he can get right back on the road and continue to WDW! Hope this helps. Candace
Erikthewise,
TTC told me that publix would be closed by the time we arrive which is around 1:00am. I guess they're not open 24 hours. Has that changed?

We always shop at Publix. Their prices are the same at any of their other stores thruout Fl.
Goodings prices are highway robery. Every so often we might go in there for bakery goods.
Like everyone else has said if you want to go out 192 you can shop at the walmart.
Get your film, personal products, water fans, etc there.
