We are discussing a CA trip to visit my grandparents who live in Santa Barbara area. We are planning to spend a couple of days at Disneyland and then drive up there. We are looking at Sept-October time frame, would like to be able to swim so hoping for warm weather. We have a 2 and 4 year old. We plan to be at DL during the week to avoid weekend crowds. What are the attendance patterns for these months? Is October less crowded? Is the weather significantly different? And does anyone know if the pools at DL hotel and GC are heated? Thank you!

I have taken November and September trips (both mid-month) and plan an end-of October trip this year. November was a lot less crowded than September, but September wasn't bad. (Much much improved over a visit during the summer.) The weather was still fairly warm. The kids did go to the pool (At Embassy Suites) with no complaints during our September visit. I wore shorts all week and also was pretty wet after our Grizzly River Ride and don't remember feeling chilly at all. It was not as unbearably hot as in July or August but the smog is bad that time of year.

Check out this graph - http://www.scottware.com.au/theme/feature/crowds.htm
Apart from Columbus Day it would appear to be a good time to go crowdwise

Beginning of October would be perfect. Everyone is back in school and the weather is still nice. Crowds are minimal.
