Started my diet yesterday, working really hard not to go off. 5 ft 3 in. tall and 198 lbs. I'm writing down everything I eat (goal: limit portions and times a day I eat), praying a lot (can't do it alone) trying to exercise (key word: try) and am drinking water like it's going out of style!! Health is what I'm going for!

Measurements:
Tummy 41 inches
Waist 43 inches

B: PB toast, 1 tumbler apple cranberry juice
L: Small pizza, salad, diet coke
D: Pancakes (three small), sausage (two), OJ (one glass)
S: PB apple, water all through the day

My goal: lose weight to cheer better and for WDW! I could really use a few words of encouragement because my weight isn't comin' off! Maybe exercise will help...add comments, please!!!!!!! My weight for my size isn't healthy!

Welcome to WISH!

Congrats for making the decision to do something healthy about your weight. Writing down everything you eat is so helpful, and all that water will keep you super healthy.

Definitely add some exercise--even 5 minutes to start makes a difference!

You can do it! :cheer2:

Thanks a lot! I'll keep you posted. I walked around (to the library) and "burned" about 18 minutes worth of exercise right there! Thanks for your support!

Hi Tiger!! :wave2:

Welcome to the WISH Journal Board! You'll find lots of helpful advice and support here!

Sounds like you're on the right track. Healthy eating and exercise are definitely the key! ::yes::

Are you following a specific diet or just "eating healthy". There are so many definitions of healthy eating these days. :teeth: Most people either eat low fat or low carb or low calorie. Each one works a bit differently so you have to experiment and figure out what works for your body.

Exercise is truly going to help you. It not only burns calories and helps you slim down, but it makes you stronger and leaner and healthier. It does some other good stuff too, like raising your levels of serotonin (a feel-good hormone) and helping to reduce your appetite.

Drinking water is awesome for so many reasons - glad to hear you're drinking lots!

Praying - I know I can't make it on my own either. If you need a Bible verse to memorize for strength and encouragement, let me know! Sometimes it helps.

Best wishes on your journey to healthy living! :sunny:

Thanks, Doreen!! :)

To answer your questions, I've tried low-carb (wasn't dedicated enough, missed my carbs!!) and am now just working on snacking less and decreasing portions. I think low calorie could work for me but I am wayy too lazy or busy to try that. If only we could snap our fingers and the weight would be gone...

A Bible verse would be nice. I've been confirmed in my church since fourth grade but have finally found God! So proud of myself!!!! (must say it took me long enough, but it was after I realized I couldn't control everything anymore!)

Again, thanks to both you and pearlieq!

WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!
You are off to a great start! Cutting out the snacking and controling portions will go along way in the plan to get healthier. Journaling really does help me keep myself aware of what I am eating and when.

Remember, any activity that you do beyond the norm right now would be good. I have walked around my house, danced around the house, and even walked up and down the flight of stairs 3 times before actually going upstairs. (That was tiring, but good).

Good luck on your goals. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Thanks for the welcome, Lesli54. I'm going to have to try dancing around my house. I'm also going to try doing push-ups, crunches, stretches, etc. during commercials on TV.

Journal update:
No pizza for lunch, ate at a burger place with family. Had a cheeseburger (only ate half; very proud!!) and a salad with dressing (ate it ALL!! go me!). If I drink any more water, I think it'll come out of my ears!!!!

Plan: pushups (yeah right) and crunches and stretches during CSI tonight, not eat more than three small pancakes at that pancake supper tonight and drink even more water!

End of the day: Felt good. Only one snack. Walked to the library 18 minutes and on top of that walked 25 when I got really hungry pre-dinner/post-snack! :cheer2: 's for not giving in! I KNOW (underline underline underline) my food choices will, could, should and MUST be better. Tomorrow, let's stick to common sense healthy foods (like grilled chicken and salads with low-fat dressing, not cheeseburgers and and full-fledged dressings). Overall, a 6 for the day! Must go exercise now. I put myself down for 1000 minutes and 43 of them are gone!! Yippee: only 957 minutes left! I THINK I've lost half an inch! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :grouphug: to you all for encouragement!

Great morning outside. Rainy/drizzle-ish/BLECH! :sad2: An-y-way, I showed great control at the pancake dinner last night! It was one of those all you can eat deals and I only ate three silver dollar pancakes and TWO sausages! Hurray for self-moderation! :cheer2: I think my scale has learned to subtract now, because when I jumped on him this morning, instead of 199 he read 196! (Is it healthy to lose weight that fast?) Oh my holy cow, I've actually lost something! :goodvibes :cool1: :) :cloud9: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I'm also becoming addicted to my exercising. Did about two minutes' worth of pushups during commercials on CSI, and I am going to add those on for today's total!

Breakfast: Cereal, Carb Counter Fruit Cocktail, nectar of the gods (water :))
Lunch: Humungo salad with low-fat dressing, some breadsticks (trying for moderation), and Diet Coke
Dinner: I think it's leftover night, which means like rosemary pork chops, green beans, and I think creamed corn
Snack: Little lunch size can of peaches or a cucumber with low-fat melted cheese and tomato chunks on it! Yum-tastic!

Toodle pip!

Sounds like you are doing well! And most definitely, you should add on those pushups. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Your cucumber, cheese and tomato sounds really good. I will have to try that. Keep up the good work. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

You had a FANTASTIC day yesterday - way to go!!!

In the first days, you'll lose a lot of water weight, so 3 pounds is fine. Enjoy it because within a week you'll be losing at a more reasonable 1-2 pounds a week.

YOU GO, GIRL!!!

TigerCheer2009
04-02-2005, 10:14 AM
Thanks Doreen! It was a great day! How about you? How are you doing?

Thanks, Lesli! That cucumber-cheese-tomato thing is actually very good! You slice a cuke lengthwise, scoop out the seeds, sprink with low-fat mozz. or cheddar, and add chunks of tomato. Then you can microwave it until the cheese is melty, which is yum. If you don't (which is still yum), you can add dressing, eat as is or just tote it around as a portable salad!

This WISH Chick (and y'all too) is on her way!

Edit: Just walked 15 minutes on the treadmill, and then the treadmill broke! Is the Lord trying to tell me to go outside?

Just had lunch. Walked to my favorite lunch shop (10 mins, 5 each way) and had a HuGe salad and ate it all! (Not a big salad eater over here :wave2: )I didn't do very well with the breadstick moderation. It wasn't bad, but I left three on the plate! :) They were itsy-bitsy though!!!! 1000 workout minutes-(43+20+10+2 from commercial workout)=1000-75=925 exercise minutes left! Aargh..cold and wet/aka no outside exercise today! :sunny:, come BACK! Tomorrow it's going to snow and as for me, I will be going stir-crazy! More exercise I guess (getting boring though!)

Edit again: Went shopping and got a whole bunch of clothes, which I needed. Pork chop thing...didn't happen! Instead I went to an Italian restaurant where I think my eating plan went awry! I had one piece bruschetta, a salad w/ low-fat Italian dressing, one slice of bread with Kalamata Olive-Garlic Butter, water and a few bites of spaghetti and two meatballs (the rest? Sitting in the refrig.). Not doing too good on the weight LOSS; with that meal it was more of a weight GAIN! (Do better tomorrow! You can and you will!)Aargh...am I worrying too much? Did I really do that bad, if I did bad at all? There were no 'good' meat choices unless you wanted it battered and seafood salad only (which I can't stand). I had NO snack today! First time! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Toodles!

Today...self, we are gonna have an AWESOME day! For breakfast, it will be PB toast (two slices) and water. Lunch will be rosemary pork chops and cucumber-cheese-tomato boats, and maybe a little (underline underline underline) spaghetti. Dinner: ?, but will have a meat, starch and a vegetable.

Exercise today... walking around. :sunny: is back and I might even convince my brother to play two-square or something like that. If not, I will walk. I figured out why the treadmill broke: it blew a fuse...and does that if you are on there longer than ten minutes at a time. Hmm.... Gotta do my 33 minutes a day to meet the challenge! :Pinkbounc I got more in yesterday, about, I don't know, I was gone six hours, went to three stores and dinner. So, that would be about 180 minutes (we were in each store about an hour!!!:)) Total minutes=1000-(180+75)=1000-255= only 745 exercise minutes needed to complete April Challenge!

Weight gain: 200 when I fell asleep, 198 when I woke up? Crazy!!!!!!!!

Bye y'all!

Don't beat yourself up about last night, it sounds like you didn't really do that bad. Put it this way, if you were trying to make good choices and you ate less than you normally do, then you are starting to practice good control and that is a big plus in my book. It takes time to build habits and a lifestyle change is done one step at a time. Keep up the good work and you will get there!

BTW, I never weigh at night because you always weigh more then. Usually, I weigh in the morning before breakfast and I don't do that everyday, because it can drive you crazy. There are many reasons why the scale fluctuates, even when you are doing everything right. If it looks like the scale isn't moving, but your clothes are getting looser, then you know you are still on track. Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

You have a bunch of great points. The clothes are fitting a bit looser!!!! You're right...it IS better to weigh in the morning! Thanks for the comments, they made me feel better!

Note: just finished lunch: one rosemary pork chop, quarter cup spaghetti (didn't measure, just looks), 2 16-oz mugs of water. Four more minutes of exercise (pillow jumping!!! FUN!). 1000-229=771 more exercise minutes! I should be looking for music to dance to :) Great idea Lesli! Also another milestone: I usually read while I eat. Today, I didn't! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

B:Waffle, and milk
L: A salad or plated lunch depending on what l :earseek: ks good and water w/ lemon
D:hopefully Subway (turkey or cold cut trio with cheese, mayo, lettuce, and tomato) and a salad w/ lots of water.
Gym workout and babysitting (kids play soccer and baseball!!!) will give me my 33!

Toodles all!

You're lookin' good, Tiger!!

I have a quick suggestion, though. When you eat your waffle & milk for breakfast, try to notice when you get hungry again. I've found that if I eat a meal of mainly carbs and no protein, I get hungry pretty quickly, which can lead to some serious snacking.

Best wishes for your busy Monday! :sunny:

Thanks for the wishes. Doreen, FYI, I got hungry right as lunch rolled around (11:09 to be exact!) I'm gonna add a tablespoon of PB to my  or fruit tomorrow at breakfast and snack!

At sitting job today, it was BEAUTIFUL! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: ! We played soccer, basketball and obstacle course for the better part of an hour and a half, plus another 30 minutes of running around at gym! I just got home and weighed myself (what can I say? No time this morning!!! :sad2: ) but checked in around 192! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc Hip hip hooray! Lunch was a quesadilla and 3 glasses h20. Must dash...have to read y'all's journals now and fix my ticker!

Edit; 375 exercise minutes done (last total plus 90 plus 30) 1000-375=625 exercise minutes left. It's beautiful outside and I am determine to get myself in gear!!!

TigerCheer2009
04-04-2005, 08:36 PM
Note: Din-din consisted of a hamburger, french fries and h20! Deli-icious! Subway hopefully soon!

Anybody know how to power through food cravings? I want mac n cheese with smoked sausage-Habit Say a whole dag-gum pot full of the stuff! ALso want chips and salsa...but once I start eating either of these I can't stop! Probably best not to get started :teeth: ! Signs of the Great Red Devil and **George**! Ay yi yi :sad2: ! (Please tell me you know who they are!!! If you don't, let me know...PM me! underline x3)

Jippy joy drumsticks...tomorrow doesn't exactly look busy, but will plan anyway:

B: either PB toast or waffles, fruit with PB and maybe a cheesey ham roll!
L: Plated lunch, option 2 or salad with dressing
D: who knows...whatever feels like happenin' I suppose!
Snack: fruit w/ PB or cheese or something with protein...probably another cheesey ham roll! :Pinkbounc ham with a cheese stick in the middle!

Exercise: gym, probably grooving to my own beat...again!

Note...inspired by PrincessMichelle (let her know if possible) that I am doing the county-thing w/ flowers!

Criteria: food choices, exercise, water consumption, and scale every other day/measurements.

Today: :flower: :flower: :flower: My food choices could have been better! Didn't give in to cravings though...did what I could where I was with what I had!

G'night! :wave2:

:sunny: Good morning, Tiger! :sunny:

Looks like you had a faboo (short for fabulous!) day yesterday! :Pinkbounc

Today's plan is a good one! ::yes:: Just stick to it like glue.

Food cravings - ugh! If you're eating your meals and healthy snacks, then you won't get hungry, so the cravings won't be too bad. However, if you feel like you're going to go crazy, then you may want to eat a sensible meal and then indulge in A LITTLE of what you're craving. You have to do this when you're already pretty full, so you can't go overboard.

Hope today is a great one! :sunny:

TigerCheer2009
04-05-2005, 03:24 PM
Thanks a lot!!!!!! The cravings did go away, but every once in a while it'll pop back up! The ideas are ingenious...might have to use them!

33 minutes of exercise today (gym and a little dancing!! :earboy2: ). Bfast was PB toast, and apples. Lunch was pizza and HPunch (Drank 1/2! :) :) :)). Snack will be a fruit and a cheesey ham thing! :flower: :flower: :flower: (am working on the water right now!!) and haven't measured today...yet!

Toodles! I'm off to read the journals!

P.S. Hope you all had faboo days too! Thanks for the kind words!

N-O-T-E! Dinner: 6-inch SUbway Turkey w/ prov., lett, tomato, mayo and chicken ramen noodles!! Is that an OK meal?

TigerCheer2009
04-05-2005, 07:49 PM
Tomorrow's menu shall be...
Breakfast: PB toast or waffle, fruit (possibly w/ pb), and milk!
Lunch: Lesser of the two evil lunch choices, salad, and h20!
Din-din: Meat? Starch? Veggies? Water
Snack: cheesey ham rolls (deli-ish! YuM!) or fruit!

Exercise: tomorrow should be b-e-au-tiful! Gym workout and probably dancing! :cool1:

I think there's another week until the great red Devil comes...could be why I'm gaining weight AND inches! I can't think of any other reason :confused3 ! Ay yi yi! I've been exercising like les maniac, my eating choices haven't been the best...losing this weight seems IMPOSSIBLE (impossible=i'm possible) cause it's sticking like me to my execise plan: like GLUE! I snacked way too much today! :sad2:

Tomorrow's gonna be better. It's gonna be that way because I said so (dear lord, please make it so! :))

Toodles. :wave2:

Tiger, another faboo day for you! :bounce:

The "great red devil" cracks me up! :rotfl: How true it is!! Around here we tend to talk about TOM's (time of month) arrival, but your phrase sure captures the essence! Whatever you call it, it sure can seem evil! ::yes:: It is common to gain up to 5-7 pounds of water weight prior to TOM but it will disappear soon afterward. You just have to keep the faith!

You asked about your dinner meal. The sub was pretty healthy, all things considered. The ramen noodles are LOADED with salt, which may explain all that extra water weight you've got. Fruit or veggies would have been better but soup is such comfort food - hard to give it up. We still have ramen noodle soup at my house once or twice a month. :p

Keep up the exercise! Underneath all that water weight, you're tightening and toning those muscles! When that water disappears, you'll be lighter and lookin' good!

I found a Bible verse that helps me - hope you like it:
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." II Timothy 1:7
You can let go of your fear of not succeeding. God has given you a spirit of power, a spirit of love and a sound mind to help you through! Just lean on Him and ask for these gifts!

Have a great Wednesday!! :sunny:

Thanks, Doreen! Life just seems like SUCH a package deal sometimes..ay yi yi! I'm still exercising and those noodles were soo good. Fruit was my next-runner up. WIllpower was totally lacking at that point! I can't wait!!!! GRD has not officially come yet, but I can feel the effects. :sad2: I kept snapping at people today and I usually never do that. Hi all. It's been an awful day today. I have a killer migraine so will make this short.

20 minutes of exercise today. B: two slices pizza and milk, L: small bowl instant potatoes and gravy, water, S: pears and one slice pizza, D: who knows...will write back when feeling better! Only 3 glasses of water today...oy vey!

How can you all DO this? It's so hard...I mean the exercise isn't and I enjoy that. Drinking water usually isn't hard. It's the food I'm troubled with. I mean, I fully know I can make healthy choices but they don't seem as appealing. My family doesn't show support that I'm on a healthy eating plan. I'm making excuses and there is no excuse for it! Tomorrow will be better. I feel awful!
:headache: :headache: :headache:! Will I just have to get rid of all the bad foods at my house? Baby steps, I know, but it's taking WAAAAAAAAAAAY too long! Can't I just learn to walk? (exasperated)

Toodle-oo everyone...hope you are having better days than I!

Dinner was McDonalds...let's not go there.

Breakfast: PB toast, water
Lunch: Sloppy joe sandwich, 1/2 slice pepp. pizza
Snack: canned pears, water

Exercise: 3 minutes so far :3dglasses Can do better, but really feel tired/achy/sick :(

I'm making better choices now! The GRD should be here in about a week (hopefully). Not that I'm :cool1: about it, I just want to get it over with! The three letters have been plaguing me...oy vey! Do you people exercise then? Do you take it easier or go full force?

See y'all later...have a great weekend!

Dinner was a HUGE salad with Olive Garden italian dressing, TWO breadsticks (when I could have easily eaten four) and 1/2 of a dinner plate of spaghetti. 5 glasses of water. Olive Garden disappointed me; they don't have side-pouring pitchers! I love those! Anyway, we will be redoing our computer room, so forgive me if I don't write for a while. Also, got about two hour exercise walking around Menards and pushing lumber carts.

Blessings and toodles!

Have a great day and keep up the hard work! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I know it's unusual...but we need to go grocery shopping. :confused3 Thanks!

Sounds like you are having fun with this rennovating. It really is good exercise too. I don't think that you can really tell how much clothes add to your weight since all clothing is different. I try to weigh with very little on and always in the same thing to keep things closer to a real weight.

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Thanks all. I haven't checked the scale yet, but I feel good! :cool1: Maybe I will come see you...I'd really love to paint a wall!!! :flower: Haven't gotten so far yet, though.

B: 1 scrambled egg w/ ham and 1 sprinkle mozz., 2 pieces toast with butter, water (didn't feel hungry until 11:30! personal victory!)
L: Hot dog, potato rounds, pineapple chunks
S: 1/2 glass sprite
D: Ham, green beans and potatoes.

I feel like I need to police my eating more. I've been really eating more then I should be. The exercise is okay-going, water drinking is fine. Eating...I haven't been making the best choices. But I've been really stressed, and when I'm stressed I don't make good choices. I got fitted for my cheerleading uniform today, so I really can't gain anymore!! Any suggestions about better eating, at all?? Or, at least, how to make the good choices seem/taste better, or portion size/moderation (most trouble)? I know I can make good choices, but they don't seem "yummy enough". Keep me in your thoughts tomorrow; I'm facing a meeting...with LOTS of not good things...like pizza and rich desserts! :sad2:

Good news: I can do 8 push ups in a ROW now! Another PV! Did an obstacle course for a good half hour, then played run around the cones for another 10!

Thanks, Lesli and pettyone for your replies!!! (Baby steps, I know, but when can I learn to run???????)

Your baby steps are coming along. Look at your breakfast, it's great! It is amazing that a person can actually eat only one egg (I amaze myself everyday  ), but it works, it is not over-filling, and it gives you enough protein to have energy and stave off the munchie monster.

As far as the rest, it will come. Although recognizing that you eat more when you are stressed is a HUGE step in the right direction. With that you can try to find something that will destress you without turning to food. Maybe excercise or go to another part of the house, take a bubble bath, read, just do something. Then you will learn to build a healthier habit for your stress.

Let's see........good foods that are nutritious and taste yummy. This of course is personal taste, but the more good foods you eat, the more your body will crave them. Try replacing a processed food with a veggie, fruit, hard cheese, yogurt, or foods that are less processed. Try cooking up some new recipes. The worst that will happen is you don't like it and know not to make it again. The best that will happen is you love it and have a new meal you can fix that is nutritious. It is all baby steps and you will get there.

I haven't learned to run yet either. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Yeah! I really am comin' along. I think a bubble bath helps destress a lot...should try that, and when I can't possibly take a bath, I'll leave the room! I want something sweet, so instead of reaching for that bag of candy, PB and Banana on a slice of bread! Yummers!

Congrats on the 10-lbs clippie! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Speaking of this, had 2 slices pizza and 1/2 Sprite. Snack will be PB/nana sandwich. Dinner will hopefully be Subway sandwich and fruit. And did ya hear? I'm at 41 inches now!!! Wahoo! Thanks. As my cheerleading coach says, Attitude is everything.

Poundage: relatively the same, though. It's okay with me (right now anyway). Thanks. I feel kind of embarrassed reading these posts. I mean, I'm really happy for everyone who has lost weight, but I'm kinda right back where I started. :sad2: I'm exercising and drinking water, and policing my portions (just started today with that!), but nothing's happened. (I did notice I can do push ups now. Other than GRD, could the weight gain be accounted for muscle :confused3 ?) That ticker is NOT movin' till I lose something.

B: Ham n scram, toast piece w/ butter
L: Hopefully a salad...:)
D: Other half of my sub from tonight.
Snack: I'm going to see if we have hard cheese and if not, I think bananas and water will do.

Goals: Police portions, make good choices (when I am calm), exercise, baby steps. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." II Timothy 1:7. Lord, please help me make good choices tomorrow. Let me feel your presence, with Your power, Your love and Your grace. Forever and ever, amen.

Note: as of April 14, 2005, I will be one month and 365 days away from doing the Triple-Digit Tango!!!! One year till I meet Mickey! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

There could be several reasons for some weight gain.
1. You are building some muscle
2. You are not getting a minimum of 64 oz of water. (the average is supposed to be 64-80 oz. I drink 84-90oz because of the extra weight, it seems to help.)
3. You are eatting too many foods that have a high salt content
4. You are retaining water
5. You are not getting enough of the "good" foods that have fewer calories, little fat, and little sugar, like veggies and some fruits.
6. Portion control. If you actually measure out a recommended serving you will be surprised at what it really looks like. Veggies are usually a lot more than most people eat. Pasta and meat is usually a lot less.
7. I am sure there are more, but can't think of them all.

Don't be embarassed reading the other journals. It can really help shed some light on some of your own habits and is really helpful to see what others have done that you might try for yourself.

Keep up the good work and it will happen. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Oh my goodness! I love how fabulously upbeat and happy you are!! Your positive attitude is going to make your journey so much easier.

I understand your issues with portion control. I have had the same problem. I've been on WW for a little less than 2 months and I'm still having problems. Here's the WW "Portion Primer". Hopefully it will help. It's worked really well for me with my protein and starch servings.

A 3-oz. serving of deli sliced turkey (rolled) looks like a cassette tape.
A 3-oz. serving of lean meat or fish looks like a deck of cards
A 1-cup serving of most starches (cereal, pasta) and most veggies looks like a tennis ball
A 1-oz. serving of hard cheese looks like 4 dice
A 1/2-cup scoop of ice cream looks like a cupcake wrapper
A 1-tsp. serving of mayonnaise looks like 1 die
A 1-tbsp. serving of peanut butter, cream cheese or butter looks like 3 dice

My other piece of advice is to follow the American Dietetic Association's guideline to always fill half of your plate with veggies/fruit at every meal. The other half should be used for your protein and starch and all of the foods should be separated by 1 inch of space on all sides. This will help you to proportion your meals.

Congratulations on your loss of inches and your wonderful exercise record! Just keep at it and the pounds will come off. Remember, you're learning to be healthier while you're waiting for the weight to go away. Being healthier is more important than losing pounds. Good luck! :flower:

Congrats, Lesli!!! I'm so happy for you!!!

Sounds like your day was pretty darn good if you had points left over! I make a point of allowing myself 5 Flex points a day just in case I need them or want them. A good day for me is when I use my exact number of daily points.

Good job and good luck this week!

What were you doing running around and playing in high heels? And as my husband says, the only "perfect shoe" is a comfortable shoe. Of course, I don't much follow that logic but I am trying!!

I wasn't really running around. The story is that I was presenting at this HUGE banquet with lots of important people there. We had to dress up and I wore my nicest (but deadly to the tootsies) shoes. I had to collect people, and find things and visit people's booths. Ay yi yi and never again. I changed ASAP, but not before nearly causing a...disruption. Thanks for replying. Did ya read my entry, Shauna? Is that a new clippie?

Awwwwww....thanks Wish Sis! We're doing great, Huh? You still shakin' up the health world? I am! Rock on to all WISHers. It's a tough job, but we're indebted to do it. So, let's do a good job!

I have another energy crisis. I gotta MOVE...but I can't. Man, I wanna DANCE right now. But it's late and really-truly I'm TIRED. My grocery-store workout's taking a toll!!!

One SERIOUS request: I need some major MAGIC to get through my squad leader training for marching band. I get to tell people what to do with my "authorit-osity" and wear an orange hat. Fun, but LOTS of hard work.

Wisdomosity (luck, health and good fortune) to you all!!!

Exercise: 30 minutes gym, 10 minutes kickball, 5 minute walk home.

Squad leader tryouts are counted as exercise: LOTS of marching. I imagine it to be like walking through WDW. 1 hour military marching.

I had to deal with some very mean/rotten people today. They called me "fat." Actually, they told me to "eat it". One of them was about the size of two me, width wise. I'm PMSing though, so that makes things 10x worse. If it comes while I'm RfLifing it, I'm gonna scream.

Oh no no! It does not bother me at all that you are in HS (I doubt it bothers anyone). In fact, some of my favorite people are in HS (two of my DD's ;) ). I was just surprised. It is always nice to talk with mature teens (remember I am a GS leader), as there are plenty of immature ones to go around.

You just impress me even more. It is not every teen who wants to have a healthier lifestyle and it is so AWESOME that you want that for yourself and that you are not afraid to be yourself. :cool1:

A friend of my DD15 is trying to lose weight now. She is a big-boned girl, but not overly tall and very pretty, but has always had on a few more lbs than the rest of the class. I love what she is trying to do, but I hear from DD15 that she has a lot of classmates trying to sabotage her. Criticizing her for trying to be healthier. It is sad. But she has a good outlook, like you, and I hope she will succeed.

GS is going slow right now. Mainly because I am putting things off. :rolleyes1

Thanks for listening, I really needed something to make my evening better, as I have been dragging and off plan. Have a great weekend w/ the family. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Thanks Lesli. Tell your DD15's friend I wish her luck and she's not alone!

Thanks. I've been trying not to use Flex Points this week because of it. It wasn't that bad. And also :) not only because it's the weekend, but it's National Smile Day! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :) :) :goodvibes :sunny:

Hi everyone!

Breakfast:
Cheese and cracker (4)
Two cups Honey Nut Cheerios (4)

I could have did without the 2nd bowl of Cheerios. But it was sitting there. Right there in front of me!!!!

I tried. I really did. Yay!

L: three turkey sandwiches on buns (low carb buns, I think), 8 strawberries and two pieces cheese. All in all 13 points. Not too shabby.

Exercise: playing baseball with cousins (15 minutes). And then here's where it gets worse...TOM came to visit just as I was leaving the reunion!!!!! Luckily my house is within walking distance. (TMI Alert! Whoop whoop whoop!) It was his first day...kind of letting me know he was there without being there being there. Great...just dandy. But I will stay STRONG and drink my water!! I will not let that crazy flirter and all of his fairy buddies get me down and stop me! Guys just don't get it, huh?

Off my soapbox now. I hope to get to the HUGE Disney store in Toledo today!!!!

Glad you made it through the reunion, without completely blowing everything. Hope you got to the Disney store. Just wait til you get down to WDW, it's like a gigantic store. So many places to window shop and never enough time to go in them all!

Hi WISH-sis! :sunny:

I'm sorry TOM stopped by for a visit. Nasty ole TOM!

I hope you were able to go to The Disney Store!!! Have a great day hon! :wizard:

TigerCheer2009
05-08-2005, 04:34 PM
He's sooo mean, isn't he, wish-sis? I went to the Disney Store today and spend...oh, about $100! I bought two light spinners, four light up fans, an Eeyore tee shirt for my mom and $20 Disney Dollars. So cool!!! I can't wait...only a year away as of next week!

I can't believe I made it through, either, Lesli!! I canNOT wait to get me down with oodles more money. WDW better look out for me; I'm the Super Shopper!!! :cheer2:

B: two cinnamon rolls, strawberries (14)
L: new! Improved! Footlong turkey w/ prov, light mayo, tomatoes and lettuce on WHEAT bread!! (10), water, 5 pieces fruit (0)
D: ???

The Disney Store is located in this HUGE mall in Toledo, OH, and I'm guessing I walked about 10 minutes because my legs didn't start to hurt as they do during a mile walk. 1077 miles to Disney times 17 minutes=18,299 minutes left to do. Holy snafu, self!!! I better get my hiney in gear.

Dinner will probably be either something light or nothing at all. Too full from lunch!

Happy Mothers Day to all mommies (like Lesli!!) and have a great weekend!

Yippee! Shopping fun! Sorry TOM is visiting. He and his water retention fairies and chocolate craving fairies need to hit the road! Great job on the family get-together!

I've been so busy that I haven't even had time to mention that I was a Row Leader (Squad Leader) in my high school marching band my Junior year. My senior year I had a ball as Drum Major and I was also Captain of my Pom Squad. It's awesome that you are having fun being involved in high school. Make lots of memories now and have a faboo time!!

Wowie!! Hi everybody. Today was very busy!

d last night: salad, cheese, crackers (6)

B; pb and banana on one slice white bread (5)
L; hot dog on bun, potato tots, 10 oz water (7)
D; bologna sandwich on wheat bread, 16 oz water (5)

Exercise: :sunny: :sunny: Babysitting day. Took a walk in a field (15). Too many snake holes for me! :earseek: Gym; 30 minutes of running around bases.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
calena- Hi!!!!! Welcome to my journal. Nice to hear from you! WISHers rock! Thanks for the kind words!
Lesli- Thinking of it in minutes rather than miles makes makes me want to move because I know how long it takes me to complete a mile. Walking is fun but it gets very boring after awhile. I can apply other activities if I use minutes! Thanks for popping in.
Shauna- Sorry I haven't visited your journal recently. :( I'll get to it, I promise ya! I don't crave chocolate...I've actually never liked it. I crave cheese and garlic. :crazy: huh? What did you play in band? Glad you enjoyed it...it's always fun. I'm having a faboo time already. Thanks for visiting. (TOM needs to take a vacation for a long long while. I don't know, maybe a million years? I feel like I've lost weight though. I'm eating less, kinda like I know when I'm thirsty or bored, though.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My goals for this week:
:flower: Stay OP
:flower: Drink more water
:flower: Try a different kind of exercise
:flower: Make more ME time (time just for me to do whatever I like)
:flower: Drink less diet soda (I indulge in one or two cans a week)
:flower: Get salads at lunch instead of pizza
:flower: Visit others journals!!!

Toodle-oo all! Have a great day!

I marched with bass clarinet and tenor sax. I know, kinda weird, but I loved it. Don't worry about not making it by lately. There hasn't been much to see.

Lucky you for no chocolate cravings. I'm having one right now!!

TigerCheer2009
05-09-2005, 06:53 PM
Try semi sweet chocolate chips. If those don't work try chocolate milk. :wizard: to get you through. Wasn't marching tsax and bass clarinet hard? I'd think so but then again it was MY clarinet that fell apart on the field during halftime!

Okay...I broke my rule. I ate a salad at 8:00 because I was still hungry.

My Future Goals:
:flower: Stay under my highest weight EVER (203)
:flower: Try the Jorge Cruise diet
:flower: Not treat my problems with food. "If food is the answer, could you please rephrase the question?"
:flower: Look good in a bathing suit
:flower: To be healthy!

Lesli54
05-10-2005, 12:28 AM
Your goals look good. Don't worry about the salad at 8:00. Sure it was after your cut off time, but at least it was only a few calories and very high quality ones at that. It could have been worse.

BTW, I played Alto sax (my fav) in marching band freshman yr of HS. Also played it for pep band and concert band. I did tenor sax for awhile in jazz band, then went to bari sax for jazz. Also played trombone for awhile in concert. Did the french horn until the person teaching me quit teaching. Wanted to be drum major and the job was mine, until someone else managed to sneak in there. :confused3 Can't remember how that happened, but no one really liked her. That's okay 'cause I then went on to the flag corp for marching band and really loved it!

Hope you hear about your position soon. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Lesli-It was a terrific salad!! Woodwinds unite! (I play clarinet) The band director refuses to tell us who made the cut until the concert. Only 7 days away. I don't mess with his logic...he got us farther than anybody else! Older band members have went to FL, Memphis and Cleveland (nearly got to play the Star Spangled Banner before an Indians game), along with our annual Cedar Point trip. I got your PM, thanks!!!

pearlieq- Hi!!!! Missed you! Thanks for posting!!! As I look back, my goals do look very attainable. One day at a time!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
B: cereal, toast and yogurt (7) I only ate 1/2 of the yogurt because I wasn't hungry anymore
L: chicken sandwich, SALAD!! One piece of that goal done~! (4)
S: probably PB and Nana sandwich
D: Subway! <---I eat there whenever I can because the points are low with most of the things I choose!
One glass of water. :rolleyes:
Exercise: Baseball. I actually ran a lot today! :cheer2: 30 solid minutes of runnin', catchin' and hittin'! :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How do I feel today? Pretty rockin'! Craving a couple of Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese, but it's livable. I'm hungry and I want to eat healthily. I don't think I even WANT McyD's, I want the ketchup they use! :confused3 Who knows...?

exercise: b-e-aUtiful day today!! Oh, yes, yes, yes, I forgot!! I'm going putt putt today. Surely that counts for exercise. If not, I'll just work out when I get home. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: !!

I'm planning my snack foodage for Relay for Life. Gotta keep up some how!
With the cute little pirates as my aid, you can see what I'm gonna chow down!

pirate: Fruit and Yogurt Smoothies (light n fit Peach Passion Fruit and Cherry berry) (anybody know point value?)
pirate: Fruit (apples, pears, grapes, strawberries , :banana:s) (mostly 1's)
pirate: Trail Mix (dried fruit, pretzel Goldfish, mini "moshmellows") (I'm guessing about 5)
pirate: Water and plenty of it (0, zip, nada, nothing)
pirate: String cheese (low fat) (2)
pirate: Granola bars/Fruit n cereal bars (3)
pirate: Crystal Light to Go (not juice, a flavor additive) (0, zip, nada, nothing)

I also have a new vice when going to McDonalds. It's a three dollar vice, but worth every penny!! It's those Fruit and Walnut Salads! 3.5 for grapes, apples and a vanilla yogurt dip, but I eat the dip separately. So that makes it 2 points. The Apple Dippers are good, too ($1), and they are only 1 point (I think! :))

Trial of the Day: My babysitting kids' dad went through the drive through at McDonalds. That was the easy part. He ordered a Happy Meal for the kids and one for himself. He offered me fries! I said no without thinking about it. My mom also went through McyD's for my brother's supper. I talked myself out ot that Quarter Pounder with Cheese and fries...mmm! I asked myself if I really wanted it since I was this far in my challenge and determined what I really thought I needed was everything in that bag...at way too high a price!

Hi you guys, I waited till I was all settled before I could write to you.

I didn't make it. What's unfair is that all of the people who tried out for Drum Major, made Squad Leader. My best friend made it but I didn't. I felt like part of myself was ripped away, and my dreams for now were crushed. See, I plan like this: set your goals big (go big or don't go at all), few and far ahead. As for Plan B...well, there is no plan B. (I'm gonna start crying again.) One of my "friends" said that it was ridiculous of me to set my goals and expectations too high because I was never gonna reach them. Needless to say, I have cut my associations with her down to few. My best friend (Sav [pronounced like Mav but with an S at the front]) said I looked so bummed and that she was sorry. It wasn't her fault that she was chosen. But all night long, I was guilt tripping and wondering how badly I screwed up not to get it. K did say that on a scale of one to ten (10 being best), nobody got below a 7 and three scored above 9.5. I didn't have the guts to ask him how I could improve. I was afraid I'd start crying.   I felt so disappointed because the only other clare (clarinet) trying out was gonna be a senior. (Next year they're all outta my way!)

My AH (accelerated history) teacher picked up on my mood, as did all else. He asked what he could do. I said "Evict ____ from my position or a million dollars in small bills." My band friends who sit next to me made me smile (AH was talking about the 'old days' when they had to walk to school, in 18 ft deep snow, but he's only 28. A friend started talking about how her ancestors only had one pair of pants, so one person could go to school a week. AH started talking about underwear everyone shared. I pictured it and started laughing. I can also sing Just Keep Swimming from Nemo in Spanish!(

Did an unofficial weigh in after school, because I felt good. 186!!!! Hope my cheerleading uniform still fits because I got fitted when I was 203. Good or bad?

I'm SO sorry and sad you didn't make it! I could feel your pain and almost cried myself (but I'm an emotional thing anyway).

I'm glad you have next year and I can hear (see, read....whatever) your determination.

Your food is good, your exercise is good. You will accomplish this.

Hang in there. "Just keep swimming!"

Tiger Cheer!!!

Can I just celebrate for a minute with you?????

:jumping1: :jumping1:

You aim BIG!!! Because you BELIEVE in yourself!!!! And you know that these setbacks are not really setbacks at all (although they really sting ya at the time)...they're little mountains you have to traverse to get to the summit. Man, your calves start aching, your legs are telling you that you should just turn around and head back to safety, but that little bruised heart inside says, "Nope, you've come this far...let's push on and see what's ahead..." Do you know what's just happened? Your calves are STRONGER because they've taken this path, your legs are developing endurance because you didn't turn back...you're putting together an ensemble of strength, courage, and fortitude that will serve you well on your path to the summit. You've also learned compassion...you've felt the disappointment and you will have a merciful heart towards those who face the same type of situation in their lives...and your words will comfort and restore hope.

You have a great crew of friends (the one that is a little negative needs you..she/he will learn from your resilience and hopefully pick up on the fact that if you fall you get back up...you don't give up) and what a sweet history teacher....go in tomorrow with the knowledge that you have gained something from this and show that beautiful smile...and the gains in your character will far outweigh any memories you would have gained if you had been selected. I'm not saying I won't be jumping for joy when you do succeed in any of your challenges...but I am excited to see how you take this and grow from it...and if you ever decide to be a mother one day...you'll look back on this and smile tenderly as you help your child go through a similar disappointment...you'll tell the story of how much it meant to you but that you didn't give up. We need those stories...my children for some reason love to hear the stories of when I failed more than the ones where I excelled! :) We're here for you and I'm sooo happy for the way you have managed the pain and seeing the good in it...and I KNOW that cheerleading outfit will need to be refitted! :)

YOU ROCK!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi there! Sorry to hear about the squad leader thing. You are right for dreaming big and the important thing is to not stop when you hit a snag. Just think how prepared you will be for try-outs next year!

I'm sorry you didn't make the position you were trying for, but at least you had the guts to try. Maybe later when the emotions have cooled down a bit you can ask for pointers on why you didn't make it this time.
I am also so proud of you that you didn't go on a food frenzy to deal with the dissapointment! WOW.
Plus, congrats on your weight loss to date and just keep it up. The uniform will definitely have to be taken in.
I played clarinet too when I was in High School.

Hi you guys!! I made it back alive. It was wonderful and inspirational! Not to mention beautiful outside. The theme was Circus of Hope. I walked maybe an hour, (3 long laps and the Caregiver lap). It was AWESOME. Now that we know better, we're gonna do it to the hilt next year. Tee-shirts, decorated campsites, rockin' fundraisers, the whole bit! We might even rope the band into it (The NB Marching Maniacs). We also played on the playground equipment. It was awesome, and no pressure at all. You just walked. They had spirit comps and lots of games/food/prizes/fun! It's great. Anyone who wants to try one, should.

I let myself slip yesterday and today because I knew I would have walked it off. I didn't count POINTS. I'll do it tomorrow.

d last night: Arby roast beef sandwich and curly fries. Let me tell you, TEMPTATION CITY!! Walking Tacos, cotton candy, cookies.. :teeth: I stayed strong. I did eat some fresh strawberries. Yum.
b: McDonalds cinnamon roll (yuck) and Fruit and Walnut Salad, milk
l: no organized lunch, more like fishie pretzels, marshmallows, and 100 Calorie Pack fruit snacks and a bottle of water!

TigerCheer2009
05-21-2005, 08:08 PM
s: turkey sandwich, carrots/dressing
d: macaroni and hot dogs, water

Okay. I declare today a splurge day. I let it ride because I thought I couldn't finish strong. That's okay cause I'm gonna get right back OP tomorrow.

I'm getting my 10-lb reward now!!!!! I'm downloading my music for my CD!

Hahahaha, I babysat last night, and I swear the house was haunted. I felt like someone was watching me the whole time. And the bathroom was at the end of a long hall with a mirror on it :scared: The kids went to bed at about 6:30, so I was up all alone until about 11. I had my mom calling me every half hour :rotfl:

Oh. My. Gosh. That ALWAYS happens to me!! Okay, the one family I sit for has this HUGE creepy house that's old and a fat, old, sweet dog. I feel so protected . When I dog sit at Bologna Kids house at night (trailer in a shady neighborhood at night), I flip out because SOMETHING always makes noise. Sends shivers up my spine!

Hey...at least *ahem* (we have to come up with a code name for him or something, my guy's code name is "Aaron") is there in our dreams to make us feel better. And your babysitting kids don't think you're going out with a meat byproduct!!

Yeah, I'm actually pretty good friends with Ben. Everyone thinks he likes me, but I don't see it really. He said a couple of pretty mean things to me in the beginning of the semester, but I laid down the law, and he apoligized up and down and didn't realize it was such a big deal (homeschooled, first year around real girls), and since then he has been really sweet. We have a hiking trip together the end of this week, I'm going to try to put my "city-girl-ness" behind me and play a happy camper :earboy2:

For everybody else, I am listening to my reward cd!! Beware, those of who buy from Walmart Music-the music is uncensored. I know not to say those words, but for parents who are making car cd's with children of an impressional age, beware!!

3. Hollaback Girl
4. Since U Been Gone
5. Mr. Brightside
6. This One's For The Girls

9. He's A Pirate (Pirates)
10. Cell Block Tango from Chicago

Hi Amanda! Thanks! I know how you feel. About how I feel...I want to go out and buy everything I'll need. In foresight, it looks awesome/perfect/nothing can go wrong. In hindsight, I'll have to abandon most of my rules (like no eating after 7) and I really am not fond for the outside.

My letter to me:

Dear My Body,
You're looking and feeling absolutely fabulous. Sure we had that nasty slip, but I am rededicating myself to making a better us. Our compadre, Gordo (fat) will be with us a little while longer, but, as you have sensed, he is slipping away mighty fast. It's for the better, really.

To make a better us, we are each going to have to pull our own weight. I will be:
:flower: drinking more water, :flower: trying to make more sensible food choices, :flower: changing up my exercise and :flower: taking more me time.
As for you, well, we'll just have to see.

The memories are great, but you aren't. It's you, not me. I'm sorry, Gordo, but I want to be friends. Not family members. Sure, sure, I remember the good times. But they don't happen as much anymore. I get tired easy, I'm just not being all I can be. Please don't take it to heart (literally).

Best wishes,
me

I think I know why I chose a few of those specific songs for my workout cd other than the fact that I love them:
Song 3: Hollaback Gurl (Gwen Stefani)- I've been " a few times" I've been around that track of weight loss and now I want it more than ever.
Song 4: Since U been Gone (kelly clarkson)- "Since u been gone, It's like I can breathe for the first time. I'm so moving on [yeah yeah] Thanks to you, now I get what I wa-a-ant!" (not want, pronounced like rant, except with a W at the front.) It's want, (wa-unt, I guess, if I wanna be technical)
Song 5: Mr. Brightside-The Killers: It's about my destiny and if I don't take control, I'll be left in the past with no control!
Song 6: This Ones For the Girls (Martina McBride): Make it happen!
Song 12: Shut Up! (Simple Plan) "...Step up, step up, step up, you'll never stop me. Nothing-you say-today is gonna bring me down!"

Anyway, I just danced 32 minutes and man am I pooped! :cheer2:

Dinner will be spaghetti/meat sauce and salad. (11)
