Ok. Day 1 and i'm not exactly sure what I'm doing today. I have joined the exercise challenge and I know I will be able to get the exercise done(35 min each day will put me over my goal of 1000 min). As far as eating. I was going to try South Beach again. but I think instead i'll just try to switch to "good carbs"(whole grain) and limit if not cut out the bad(although I just put sugar in my coffee).Well we'll see how it goes today.

Welcome to WISH!

Sounds like a sensible plan you've got. I always thought it made more sense to eat the good carbs (whole grains, fruits, etc.) instead of cutting them out.

Great job meeting your exercise goal. Keep it up! :cheer2:

I just ate a brownie. I won't beat myself up about it though. That was the last of them and I'm not making more. I went for a short bike ride and remembered how much I enjoy it. I WILL exercise later today!!

WELCOME!

You have a good plan, nice and simple. I don't cut out carbs completely or do low carb either. There are so many good carbs and you need them, so I try to focus on making sure that I have those over the BAD CARBS, as well as just not overdoing.

Take one day at a time and you will do it! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Day 2 April 2

Last night I had 1 slice of pizza, then we went out and I had 1 chicken finger, french fries and onion rings, and beer on top of that. Not good. I haven't eaten yet today but I had my coffee with sugar. Anybody got any ideas for a good but quick breakfast. I was thinking a good cereal and some fruit with grapefruit crystal lite or replacing my coffee with tea. What's a good tea that is sweet enough without putting sugar in it or splenda(I don't really like splenda)?

There are several teas that are good and need no sugar. My favorite is Ginger Peach, which you can buy in a can at Panera Bread (St. Louis Bread, down south). It has a nice hint of peach and smells wonderful. Celestial Seasonings has some great teas as well, just try one tha has a flavor you might like.

One of my favorite breakfasts is 1 scrambled egg w/ chives and a sprinkle of cheese, fresh fruit, and 1/2 slice of whole grain toast w/ jelly no butter, and hot tea or grapefruit juice. I never thought I could only eat 1 scrambled egg :confused3 , but it works fine.

If you are doing cereal, then try a whole grain, like All Bran and add some banana pieces to your bowl. It gives you fiber, fruit, and enough sweet so you don't need sugar.

Hang in there, you will do fine! As for last night, we all have those nights, but you just have to keep moving on and forgive yourself the little slips. Have a great day!! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Bananna's(for some odd reason) make me feel really sick, but I think I will try the cereal with lowfat milk(I've never had it before, but I don't drink the milk anyway I just like to wet my cereal) with fruit. I do like the tea thing so I'll get some and try tomorrow morning. Thanks

I am eating in the mornign good friends cinamon raison crunch. I measure out one cup of that and one cup of 2% milk. It keeps me full for a couple of hours til my snack which I have a mozzarella cheese stick and almonds. for my afternoon snack I cut up an apple put apple pie spice, craisons, peanuts on it and mix it up. Very good.

OK I bought a granola cereal yesterday but I don't think I'm gonna try it today. I want pancakes. I know I'm bad I also didn't get a chance to exercise yesterday. I'll do 2 tapes today, I promise. How is 2% milk? I've only had whole milk, is there a big differencc?

2% milk is fine, but it will take some getting used to. My house was whole milk drinkers and now we are down to 1%. Personally, I don't like milk much (unless it is whole and ice cold), but I have gotten used to the 1%. I figure, it is all about health, so I manage to get it in somehow. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Day 3 April 3:

Last night I had buffalo wings, french fries and ice cream cake(it was my mother's birthday). This morning I had my pancakes w/ 2 slices of bacon. I'm going to have buffalo wings for lunch and who knows what for dinner. I do better on the weekdays than the weekend when no one is around to say "let's get mcdonalds". I did do my 2 tapes today so thats a plus!

Ok I'm back ! This week has been good so far(back on South Beach Diet). I don't think I'm eating all the veggies I should be, but I never did so I'll have to work on that. I don't wanna get on the scale until Friday. I'm getting my exercise in and feeling pretty good. I felt a cold coming on, but I didn't let that stop me. a little more tired than usual, but I'll make it.

Tara, Welcome to Wish!!

You are off to a good start. Don't get discouraged. It definitely takes a while to find what works for you.

I've taken to eating my cereal - usually Kashi Go Lean Crunch - with light yogurt mixed in instead of milk. Makes it sweet & fruity.

Hope you are having a great day!

TigerCheer2009, Thanks for the cheer. I'm trying.

goldcupmom, I like your idea of the yogurt. I'm not much of a milk person, but I do like yogurt. Never thought of that though. I'm just trying o get through these first 2 weeks. I was cutting an apple for my DD's and I was so tempted, but I didn't bite. I figured it will taste just as good in a couple of weeks(and hopefully I'll be a little lighter)

I can't stop thinking about bread today. Mainly potato bread, but at this point I'd take any kind(well almost any kind). I feel like a cartoon character, every time I look at one of my kids, they look like little loaves of bread. It's funny b/c I thought I would miss candy more, but there are m&m's in the snack cabinet right now and I could care less. I just want BREAD!!!!!

Tara!!! It's Tara!!! I saw your journal and had to peep in to my twin..and I really do believe you're my twin..brownies, pizza, chicken fingers, fries, buffalo wings...ewww that sounds way too much like my house! :) But, my house has changed...I still let those things in..but on days I do them I plan for it by having two slimfasts and just letting myself have it without all the beatings to go with it.

Changes that I've made that have helped me lose so far...

skim milk (really don't miss the 2%)...and almost nothing with sugar ever..no cokes, sweet teas, syrup or such like that..unless again it's planned and I control myself the other two meals with a shake or below low carb meal.

I did cut out french fries for 100 days and I think that really helped...but I now don't forbid them...just have them about once every two weeks.

Now for the good snacks I keep around that help me want good foods are...

mozzarella sticks, olives, cashews, macadamia nuts, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries (they're low carb and really just enough sweet during the day that I don't get those brownie cravings)...but I have to admit at TOM that chocolate is a must! I've gotten by with just letting myself have semi-sweet chocolate chips...about 20 and I'm set...they're low carb and I've found they do the trick!

And gosh, I remember the bread cravings!!! My little kids looked like homemade yeast rolls with hot butter running off their heads! :) But I promise if you stick to phase 1 for atleast 10 days and slowly add in 1 piece of whole wheat toast a day...you really start to prefer the higher fiber breads to the white breads that used to taste sooo good! :)

I hope something here has helped...I'm still 25 or so pounds away from goal and these seem to be the hardest...because there's no room for error! :) Stick to your plan and once you see the weight coming off it'll motivate you and keep you on the straight losing path. If you have a bad day, let yourself HAVE it and make the next day better. You can do this!! I was just amazed at how many of my calories were junk...I sometimes go by the rule of allowing myself 120 calories (or 10% of my daily) for something pure junk! Like a Little Debbie nutter bar....I'll do that about once every 3 days then try to go longer...but it does help to know it's okay to have something little bad daily if you must! :)

Hi Tara, we really are twins. I'm trying my hardest hear. Tonight I'm making spaghetti for my family. I am seriously contemplating eating the same. I always make whole wheat spaghetti with turkey and multi-grain Italian Bread(Yes, Bread). I don't know if I can sit there with my sucky dinner while everyone says "oh this is delicious". I see your siggie says 23.5 lbs lost for you, that's AWESOME!!!! Keep up your good work and pray for me, I'm feeling weak.

Well I fell off the wagon or however you say it. I did bad this weekend, but I plan on going back on track on Monday. It's hard b/c Dh and I always go out on Friday night. And then b/c he's here it's like fast-food weekends(he's at Mcdonalds right now). I'm not really getting down on myself about it though. I'll just do what I can. I'm more upset about not having exercised all weekend than the diet thing. Well, tomorrow is Monday so we'll see what happens.

Tara, I hear you about the weekends. Dh & I love going out. It was difficult for me to change my eating out choices especially since we usually get appetizers. I've surprised myself - changing blackened shrimp for buffalo wings. I've learned I can always make better choices & still get to go out. Hang in there! You are definately not alone. We're doing lifestyle changes not diets! :sunny:

How are you doing this week and weekend. My challenge was also eating out. But I think I've got it down now. I just have told myself that for now, it's as much chicken and lower fat foods as possible and when I get down to my goal weight, then I'll splurge!!!! Hang in there.

Keep on

Well, we're just back from the Poconos this weekend. I pretty much ate whatever there. I'll try to get back on track today, but I'm not really "feeling it"
