hi
just wondering what is the average weight loss most of you have experienced weekly? how often do you weigh yourself? i finally broke down and bought a scale a couple of weeks ago- (don't laugh)..... :rotfl: but i was going to walmart and weighing myself there once a week...why....well, i become obsessive with my weight when i have a scale in the house and it is happening again...starting to weigh myself daily which i don't think is a good habit, oh well
TIA :wave2:

When I first started low carbing after my first month where I lost 20 pounds, I slowed down to 1-3 pounds per week. Now that I am about 20 pounds from goal, I am fortunate to lose 1/2 to 1.5 pounds per week.
I was a former scale abuser. I couldn't take the daily fluxuations so now I weigh 1-3 times per week, usually Friday to get an idea of how I have done for the week and Saturday and Sunday because sometimes I'm lower on one day than another, it just depends but usually my lowest weight is on Sunday so that's what I stick with most of the time.

WOW!! congrats to you on the fantastic weight loss! you must feel so good about yourself! :) yeah, i guess since i lost 40 lbs in a "short" period of time (from 1/15/05) that i figured that i would continue to loose 10lbs a week.....NOT - i am going to have to learn to be happy with the "little" accomplishments and be satisfied even if i only loose a pound or two a week :flower:

Before when I was doing Weight Watchers I was losing about 1-3 lbs a week.
Now I've been trying and trying but can't seem to stay motivated once I get going.
1-2 lbs is considered a good healthy weight loss that is slow and steady and I hear the chances of keeping weight off when losing like this is greater. ;)
Hi Bratray - Fancy meeting you here ;)
With WW, they suggest no more than 2 pounds per week because you have a better chance of keeping it off longer. People who typically lose a lot of weight in a short time tend to put some, if not all back on.
Good job buying a scale and try and weigh yourself once or twice a week. I weigh in with WW on Tuesdays, but tend to weigh myself a couple of times a week.
40 pounds since January is HUGE, congratulations. How did you do it in such a short time??

hey tera- thanks so much for suggesting i come over to this wonderful board- :lovestruc everyone is so very supportive- i tried on my evening gown last nite and it fits a lot better although still a little snug (even with a girdle) but if i can loose at least 10lb before our cruise i think it will look okay :confused3

When I started Atkins, I lost 12 pounds in the first two weeks. Then it slowed to a nice 2-3 pounds per week. Now, I'm down to 1-2 per week, but I know this is healthiest because it will be easier to keep off (as long as I don't go back to my old way of eating!!).
Bratray - Great news about the dress. 10 pounds is definitely doable, but don't starve yourself... it's not worth it. Just keep drinking that water and exercising hard and I'll bet that dress will fit perfectly :sunny:

I'm losing a pound or less a week. I'm doing WW but I still weigh myself daily at home. I had the opposite problem from scale obsession. I avoided scales totally for 8 years after having my first baby. I pictured myself as my former size 4 when I was actually about 4 times that size.
Now I check daily just to see what's up. I don't get fixated on it but it helps me get my 'eat healthy' head on right in the morning.

I'm a slow loser so I have to be satisfied with .5/week or I'll be majorly disappointed. I guess it's just different for everyone. :confused3

It is so variable for me when dieting. I can lose anywhere from half a pound to four pounds and I have no idea why. Overall average for me is just over 2lbs a week if you measure over a month.
