View Full Version : I SWEAR the Wonder is NOT sailing 5/29/2005!

NOBODY is on this cruise! NOBODY! Just me, my DH and my DS! We're going to have a BLAST on that huge, beautiful boat all by ourselves! We're going to have the Captain "lay a scratch" as we leave port and then we're gonna roll doughnuts all the way to Nassau!

Yup. It's gonna be great! :cool1:

Nobody's sailing with us on November 27, either! I think we should ask to be upgraded (for free, of course) to one of the Category 1 suites. I just haven't decided which I'll request!

Beth

fljelad
03-28-2005, 12:27 PM
Which suite has the piano? That's the one I want! I'm wicked at "Chopsticks!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Pirate Night? JUST for us!! All those yummy, fruity frozen rum drinks!

The Captain's gonna let my DS steer the boat for his birthday too! :rotfl:

Ariel Wanna-be
04-06-2005, 01:26 PM
No such luck, fljelad!!

We'll be there too: me, DH, DS, MIL, and SIL.

But I think that ship is probably be big enough for the 8 of us!! :rotfl:

Think of all the deck chairs that we won't have to worry about being saved!

Think of the empty Mickey Pool!

Think of the easy Palo ressies!

Think of not having to be first off the ship at CC!

It's gonna be a great cruise. ;)

fljelad
04-06-2005, 09:15 PM
Oh, my goodness! Someone else will be on the boat with us!!! This will be our first cruise and we're very excited.

How old is your son?

Ariel Wanna-be
04-06-2005, 11:28 PM
This is our second cruise...last year we did the 3 night, and had such a good time!

I know this cruise will be fun...we're also hoping we'll have a space shuttle launch bonus! That would thrill DS like nothing else. :bounce:

fljelad
04-07-2005, 12:04 PM
:drinking1 :hyper: :dancer: :dancer: Hey! My DS will turn seven the day we embark! Now at least I know there will be ONE seven year old boy for DS to play with!!

Bring on the fruity rum drinks!! :cool1: :cool1:

Ariel Wanna-be

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Look out, Konk Kooler...here we come!

What a great birthday for your DS! :bday: Mine will be thrilled with another boy to play with!

What interests does your DS have?

Mine loves: space, geology, Power Rangers, dinosaurs, Star Wars, and science experiments. He's also very outgoing (aka: talk your ear off)...what about yours?

fljelad
04-07-2005, 05:13 PM
Well, he's more cerebral than sporty but he loves his bike. He LOVES dragons, dinosaurs, space, rocks, science. He collects mighty beanz. He likes godzilla. He's on the quiet side but can be as annoying as any 6-7 year old out there!! ;) There are days when I want to change my name!

He loves SpongeBob and Kim Possible. "Not Kim Mom! RON!" Yeah, yeah, whatever! :rotfl: He likes Zoom on PBS and Myth Busters. Go figure!

He is DEFINITELY looking forward to the Kids Clubs. "I can be there ALL DAY, right mom?"

He's just finishing up 1st grade.

Ariel Wanna-be
04-07-2005, 06:02 PM
They should get along great! We'll have to make sure they go to the Clubs at some of the same times...especially the scientist classes!

He gets out of school just a few days before we leave, so this will be a great kickoff to the summer.

Are y'all going to DW also?

fljelad
04-07-2005, 06:50 PM
Yup. We're doing the 3Land/4Sea package...staying at AKL. This is sort of our BIG family vacation for a while.

My DS is Jack. It sounds like Jack and Jeff might be twins separated at birth! ;)

Ariel Wanna-be
04-07-2005, 09:25 PM
AKL is beautiful...we've never stayed there, but we did eat at Boma, and took a look around the resort. DO NOT miss Boma!

I'm afraid we won't have the boat completely to ourselves, though. Someone PM'd me a couple of months ago, and they were going on the same cruise. It was a mom and her DD.

So let's see, that makes 10 of us...still a pretty good CM to guest ratio!! :Pinkbounc

fljelad
04-07-2005, 09:32 PM
Well, I love the name Jeff (Jeffrey) but Jack was always Jack. He was named after his Grandfather.

We have PS for Boma for breakfast AND dinner. I've read mostly really good reviews and since we are there. I'm really looking forward to it!

Yeah, I guess we can let two more people on the boat. Ten is a good number. :rotfl2:

If we're not careful we're going to push this thread to TWO PAGES!! :earseek: :teeth:

Do you have anything planned for Nassau?

Ariel Wanna-be
04-07-2005, 10:12 PM
Last year in Nassau, we just did the Straw Market. It was okay, worth doing once. We picked up some really inexpensive T-shirts for souveniers for our family back home, and DS got some cool knick-knacks.

This year we're doing a snorkeling excursion, and maybe the Pirate Museum. We've heard that the snorkeling is beautiful in Nassau.

PS - Nobody can complain that we're hogging the thread, since we're the only ones on it! :rotfl:

fljelad
04-07-2005, 10:24 PM
Right now we are signed up for the Historic Harbor tour. I think that is in the morning. I'm assuming we'll have time to check out the Straw Market afterwards. I'm not a big shopper but I love to look around. I'm a horrible tourist because I prefer to explore rather than shop!

I'm saving my money for fruity rum drinks!! :cool1:

We're in Colorado. Where are you?

Ariel Wanna-be
04-07-2005, 11:01 PM
Ooooh, DH loves Colorado! He's been there on hunting trips twice, once to Rifle, and once to somewhere else, Cortez maybe? He thinks it's beautiful, and wants us to vacation there one year...but I can't see skipping DW!

We're waaaay down in Louisiana. We usually drive to Orlando, but this year we're splurging and flying down. It will be DS's first trip in an airplane, and I do believe he's looking forward to flying just as much as DW or the cruise!

It's wierd that nobody else is "checking in" on this thread. I figured this cruise would be packed because it's Memorial Day weekend.

fljelad
04-08-2005, 10:26 AM
I've never been to Louisiana but I'd love to visit one day. I love creole food. Anything with spice really!

I started a thread for this cruise back in February and it skittered off the first page faster than you can say Mickey! I'm surprised at the lack of attention this thread is getting too.

Hey! Maybe we really ARE going to be the only families on the boat!! :rotfl: Poor Jack has never really had a birthday party because his birthday is ALWAYS Memorial Day Weekend! We have planned parties....it's just that nobody ever comes because they are all "in the mountains" for the holiday. :sad2: Maybe everyone is just avoiding my poor boy's birthday! :rotfl2: ;)

fljelad
04-09-2005, 11:47 AM
Just in case anyone else is going on this cruise...

Ariel Wanna-be
04-09-2005, 06:11 PM
Yes, we may have the crookedest politicians and the worst roads in the country, but we *do* have the best food!

Maybe closer to the cruise, others will start checking in. If not, oh well, it's gonna be a great cruise anyway!

Ariel Wanna-be
04-11-2005, 10:04 PM

fljelad
04-12-2005, 12:13 PM
I dunno! With all the shennanigans Tom DeLay is doing, Texas my have you beat on the "crooked politicians" front! :rotfl2:

Do you read any of the guide books? I'm hooked on the Unofficial Guide and I am expecting my Passporter any day now!

Ariel Wanna-be
04-12-2005, 12:58 PM
When I first started planning our first trip, the UG was such a lifesaver!! For an introduction to DW and for compulsive planners, it can't be beat.

I've since put together my own Disney binder, complete with an outline, touring tips, planning chart, and lots of other good stuff that I've got from guide books and this board.

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about how one of my girlfriends ticked me off about that binder!

fljelad
04-12-2005, 02:07 PM
I am trying to keep all my "stuff" together until my Passporter gets here but I've already lost one PS! It's amazing how much stuff you "collect"!

Hey, Jack is in Cubscouts too! Another thing the boys will have in common! :cool1:

Ariel Wanna-be
04-12-2005, 02:22 PM
If you want, PM me your email address, and I'll send you copies of my outline and tips and stuff. *Warning* you'll need alot of paper to print it!

fljelad
04-15-2005, 10:36 PM
Whew! I just had a very stressful three days at work (JCAHO if you're in the medical field!) but things should be getting back to normal.

We had our Blue and Gold in February and right now the boys are gearing up for their Pine Wood Derby. That's causing no end of excitement! May will be their crossover so he'll get his badge then. Don't you just love a man in a uniform?? :teeth:

Thanks for the offer on the trip info! I actually have the UG, two Passporters and a Birnbaums so I think I'm coverd! :rotfl2:

fljelad
04-16-2005, 05:17 PM
Just bumping this up so it doesn't lost.

Ariel Wanna-be
04-17-2005, 08:09 AM
I used to manage a home health agency, so I know *exactly* what you mean by JCAHO!

Only 5 weeks to go!!

fljelad
04-17-2005, 10:47 AM
I can't believe it's only five weeks! I started saving for this trip five years ago and started really planning more than a year ago. I can't believe it's here already!! Woohoo!! :cool1:

There's another 5/29 thread out there. There is at least one other family going on "our" :teeth: cruise...couple with three girls. We're going to have plenty of room to stretch out!! :rotfl2:

I can't believe the cruise threads with THOUSANDS of posts!! They must be filled with families or something!

fljelad
04-17-2005, 09:14 PM
Gratuitous thread to try to get it to three pages. This cruise will be as "popular" as the other cruises!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I'll be there! I'm the one that pm'd you a while back, it will be me and my DD 9. We are celebrating her b-day a little early this year. I can't wait. 36d 12h 59min. I have mouse tracks to count it down.

shannon1219
04-19-2005, 08:04 PM
We are doing the 3 land/ 4 sea package and we are staying at the Beach Club. We have stayed at the AKL and it is wonderful. My DD was mesmarized by it. THe only thing she hated was that they did not allow any balloons at AKL. She had to let her balloon go the first day.

fljelad
04-19-2005, 10:47 PM
Thanks so much for the heads up on the balloons!! DS loves balloons but I guess we won't be bringing any back to AKL.

I can't believe we're just five weeks away!!
     :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Welcome, Shannon! :wave2:

I'm envious that you're staying at the BC...we ate at Beaches and Cream, and the resort was beautiful!

Well, guys, let's do a head count: there's Shannon, her DD, fljelad, her DH, her DS, me, my DH, my DS, my MIL, and my SIL...that's only 10 people!

That's about one person to a deck!

I'm soooo glad we're not gonna have to fight the crowds for brunch ressies! :rotfl:

shannon1219
04-20-2005, 07:39 PM
I am really worried. How will we handle the crowds? I just don't know what to do! :rotfl2:

I think we're going to PAR-TAY!! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Is anyone going to bring pirate gear? pirate:

Ariel Wanna-be
04-21-2005, 07:09 AM
I don't think I'll have room to pack it! We're doing WDW for three days before the cruise and two days after, so that's alot of luggage. But, we're planning on going to the Pirate Museum in Nassau, so maybe we'll pick up some stuff for DS there.

Yay!! :cheer2:
The space shuttle launch has been postponed until May 22nd...if it will just get pushed back about one more week, then maybe we'll get to see it lift off!! That would make DS so happy.

Has anyone been able to get their hands on some recent kids Navigators?

OMG, I was thinking the SAME THING!! Wouldn't that be the coolest thing? THAT is something that DS would NEVER forget! I'm sending a little weeklong delay juju to Cape Canaveral as we speak!! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

I was wondering why there wasn't a 5/29 thread ! I'll be there with my entire family: my husband and 3 kids (DS 7, DD 4 1/2 and DS 12 weeks!) My sister and her family (DD 5 and DS 2) and my mom and her boyfriend.

We're flying in Friday and staying at the Radisson. We were just at AKL back in December and had a blast (as much of a blast as you can have ay WDW 7 mo pregnant) My oldest has been to WDW 5 times and my DD 4 times.

My daughter is a real Princess nut and both my older 2 love trading pins. DH & I are hoping to go to brunch at Palos as it will be our 9th anniversary.

That should cover it ! :flower:

Shannon: We initially booked through DCL directly (while we were on the ship last year) but eventually transferred our ressie to Dreams Unlimited. My MIL and SIL haven't received theirs yet, either...but I'm sure it won't be long before y'all get them!

Jridou: Welcome!!

The ship count is now up to 20 people...still plenty of room for us to spread out!

fljelad: I hope your juju worked! ;)

I was reading about your cruising neighbor!! I guess it's a small world after all!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ;)

You guys have to go check out the new DCL website you can reserve everything in advance now even palos.

fljelad
05-07-2005, 09:48 AM
We will be doing something for pirate night pirate: but mostly it will probably be my "boys". DS wil definitely have something and DH has a pierced ear anyhow so we're going to bring a big gold hoop... :cool1:

Oh, my. I had seen something about online cruise scheduling. I think I'm going to have to check this out. I wonder if I'll be able to find the site on my own.... :scratchin Off to check!! :moped:

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, LADIES! :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

Did y'all get some cool goodies? DS and DH gave me a charm bracelet and a $150 gift certificate to the mall for new clothes/shoes! :Pinkbounc I was NOT expecting that!! They're terrific! :love2:

Shannon, you are my new best friend since you told us about pre-booking our activities on the DCL website! :worship:

What a time-saver...now I don't have to worry about standing in line forever for Palo, or find time during those few crucial non-crowded hours on the ship to sign up for excursions and sign DS up for the club. You rock!!

I wish you were on the first seating, 'cause we'd gladly link dining with you! I've heard that it's possible to change from the second to the first seating arrangement if you ask at port.

fljelad, your juju worked too well! :rotfl: The launch is now pushed back to July...but it would still be super-cool if the shuttle was at least moved onto the launch pad by the time we go. Not as cool as a launch, but certainly nothing to sneeze at!

Is anyone planning to go to any of the dance parties late at night? We didn't have time to go last year, but I'd like to go to the '70s one...it looks pretty fun.

fljelad
05-08-2005, 03:41 PM
I got hand-made cards from my "boys" this morning and as my MD gift I bought TOO MUCH STUFF at a stamping expo yesterday! Our brunch at the zoo was lovely, the food was GREAT and to polar bears were as active and playful as I've ever seen them!

Shanon has my undying gratitude too! I've registered Jack for the Kid's Club, I have a pedicure and foot massage (aaahhhh!) scheduled for first thing Monday morning and we have brunch scheduled at Palo! Woohoo!

We have 1st seating. At least that's what we requested and that's what it says on our cruise docs! I'd be happy to link up with someone. There are only three of us and we are generally quiet and well mannered  :teeth: I just don't know how to link ressies!

Ariel Wanna-be
05-09-2005, 11:20 AM
Stamping expo...sounds like fun! Are you a scrapbooker too? I loooove scrapbooking (except when I get months behind.)

If you'd like to link our dining, PM me your cabin number (or the name the ressie is under), and I'll email my travel agent. It would be me, DH, DS, SIL and MIL. None of us bite! It would be great for the boys to have someone to talk to during those "boring" adult dinners...they could talk science! :chat:

fljelad
05-10-2005, 08:07 PM
No, there are just the 20 of us. This is going to be the most amazing cruise ever.

Hey, is your son a righty or a southpaw? Jack is a southpaw.

Ariel Wanna-be
05-10-2005, 08:42 PM
Just got an email from your TA...we should be linked! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Last cruise, we ended up at a table with a family with two girls, one about 4 and one about 11. The family was absolutely wonderful, but needless to say, DS didn't have anything in common with them ;) .

Are y'all going to dress up for dinner? Last year, I wore dressy capris for two nights, and a dress on the night we were in Triton's. DH wore khaki-style pants and polo shirts for two nights and a dress shirt and tie the night we were in Triton's. This year, I think I'm going to let him ditch the tie, and maybe even wear nice jeans for a couple of nights! :earseek: DS will be wearing nice jeans/khakis and polo shirts, and probably some pirate-ish stuff on pirate night. pirate: I'll probably stick with the same type stuff I wore last year...it was dressed up enough, but still comfortable. And thanks to the Tag Fairy, you know that my undies will match my clothes! :rotfl: (You don't have any tags yet, so be careful what you post in the future!!! That Tag Fairy is sneaky.)

I've been trying to get my hands on some recent navitators to try and somewhat plan when DS will be going to the club, but no one wants to give them up! :badpc:

Shannon, I hope you can hook up with us! If not, I think we're going to the 70s party, maybe we could meet there...do you like to dance? I'd love to have someone to boogie on the floor with...DH has two left feet (but bless his heart, he tries!) Any other Memorial Day cruisers, you're invited to the party too!

Can you believe we only have 2 1/2 weeks!?! :Pinkbounc

shannon1219
05-10-2005, 09:33 PM
I'll see ya on the dance floor.

fljelad
05-10-2005, 10:08 PM
Well, I've seen DH in a tie about five times in almost 14 years of marriage and one of those was our wedding! :rotfl2: Nah, he'll be in Dockers and polos or "Hawaiian shirts" every night. I'll be wearing capris and nice tees/tops. DS will have collared shirts for dinner but I might keep him in nice shorts...I think I've read that for kids under 10 that's acceptable. We're really a pretty casual crowd. Always clean, always neat, just not very dressy!

Oh, and DH has two left feet too and he refuses to try so I probably won't be doing too much dancing but...I may talk him into showing up!

5 pages!?! To any unsuspecting person glancing at the Cruise Meets page would assume that this cruise is quite popular! :rotfl:

Is Jack a big Star Wars fan? Shannon, is your daughter? If so, don't forget about the Star Wars weekends at MGM! Jeff is SO looking forward to that!

I am pretty ticked about the new Star Wars movie being rated PG-13. ESPECIALLY since they've done this huge marketing campaign geared towards kids. Kid stuff for the new SW movie is everywhere...toys, clothes, shoes, cereal boxes, M&Ms, frozen waffles, Pop Tarts...everywhere, all geared towards kids who can't see the movie because it's too violent. If you're gonna make a movie that's not appropriate for kids, don't market to them!!! Getting off my soap box now.

Anyway, I hear that the SW weekends at MGM are wonderful...we'll see in a couple weeks! :cool1:

fljelad
05-13-2005, 10:13 PM
Yup, Jack is a big SW fan! I haven't told him about the events at MGM though. That park is sort of our "filler" park. We only have three days and Epcot, MK and AK have priority. We're going to try to make it over though.

I can't believe that we are two weeks and two days from embarkation! I'm actually starting to think about packing!! :rotfl2:

See you on the Wonder!!

05-15-2005, 09:36 PM
COOL GIFT ALERT!!

Jack had cross over last night at Cub Scouts...he's officially a Wolf Scout now! :cool1: Some friends came to the ceremony and they brought a gift for him. It is the coolest thing! It's a pirate's treasure chest that has a pirate's journal (the pirate's name is Jack) a treasure map, some "wanted" posters, a booklet of knot tying, PLUS a red banana, an eye patch, gold clip on earring, a Jolly Roger flag, a length of rope for knot practice and two doubloons. Jack is absolutely enthralled! My friend said she bought it at Borders but we saw it at Barnes and Noble today!

ARRRR!! pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

What a cool gift! I'm going to check out B & N...that would make a great Pirate Night surprise. Is Jack going to bring his on the ship?

Our Blue and Gold Banquet is Sunday evening. I'm sure it will be fun. The boys have worked really hard this year on their projects and stuff.

DS is soooo looking forward to the end of school....today is their last full day...then it's smooth sailing until next Tuesday when they officially are finished.

You'd swear he was a straight F student with the way he's counting the days to the end of school! :rotfl: He has a "countdown chain" for our trip, and on it he's marked the last day of school in BIG LETTERS. He really likes tearing off a link every night.

We leave in one week!
