Ok--I'm not sure if this has been done before, or if it is even a good idea. But, as a single young Disney freak, I'm sick of dating men who just don't understand what it's all about. I figure this would be as good a place as any to meet someone who really might have their Disneyness together.
I propose we post! Or, perhaps we PM. Whatever it turns into, maybe this is a way to start the dialogue.
I'm 23, single, female from MN. I'm addicted to all things Disney.

I hear ya! I haven't been single that long, but I can't say that I enjoy it. I have been going to Disney for three years in a row and have a trip planned for May 4th - 9th. This will be my first trip without a partner (Well, I will be with my teenage son). I'm sure we will have a blast!
I am 34, SWF, Massachusetts looking for Mr. Mickey Mouse in Disney World!! ::MickeyMo

I'm a 25 year-old SWF in northern MN. I eould also love to meet a Disney-loving single guy.
I'm planning on doing a 7-night Disney cruise in 09/05, and would like a roommate, if anyone is interested. f so, PM me...
okay, here goes. I am a newly single female and I am...gulp...32. My ex never went to disney world with us so we went without him. My long term goal is to meet a disney loving guy. Or at least one who loves me enough to pretend :teeth:
For now would be happy talking to other single disney lovers....ladies I think we are outnumbering the men.

I'm also a SWM (31) from the great white north. You can't help who you fall in love with, for me unfortunately it's a theme park. It sure is nice to see I'm not the only one. Haven't got the courage to attempt a solo trip yet but it might be coming soon since I'm running out of family and friends to drag down with me.

Alacrity - This is probably the dumbest post you have ever read but here goes...
I play D&D and in our game, one of the characters has a magical ability that is only activated when he says "Alacrity"
I have seriously never seen that word anywhere besides my D&D game until I saw your screen name. :)
Just felt like sharing. ;)

alac·ri·ty
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin alacritas, from alacr-, alacer lively, eager
: promptness in response : cheerful readiness <accepted the invitation with alacrity>
I've heard the word used a few times. Never used it myself, but I have heard it used...
How about "acquiesce"? I used that in a sentence once and got laughed at (even though I used it correctly).

My sister directed me to this thread with this note 'meet a man who loves the mouse'. Wonder what she's trying to tell me? hehehe
I'm 36, female, in Nova Scotia.
I've been tagging along with my sister and her family. Little mini-vacations locally, to Disney in January and another trip in January 06. In fact, on our last trip to SSR we purchased dvc together. Whoo hoo, now we have to go. :)

Heh! I've used it as a network nickname for years. I first saw it in a SciFi book (Jinx on a Terran Inheritance, Brian Daley) as the name of one of the characters: Alacrity Fitzhugh. Since then I've used the name along with the other major character in the book: Hobart Floyt. Is the magical ablility speed by chance?
WIllCAD is correct in the definition. One would do something with alacrity. They would do something quickly. as for "acquiesce", it's in one of my favorite lines from the Pirates of the Caribbean; "I am disinclined to
acquiesce...means no!"

I'm 43, divorced, and love WDW. My teenager travels with me now (I own DVC at VWL), but when he goes to college, I anticipate 2 trips a year and am afraid I just might need more points. My first real solo trip will probably be next summer when he goes to band camp.

I seriously doubt that you're the only Chinese Disney fan. After all, Disney wouldn't be investing billions in a Hong Kong Disneyland if they didn't think the Chinese people would want to visit!
You're definietly NOT the only Disney fan in Baltimore, either - I live in Cockeysville.

I just feel like I have to post my ad as well. :rotfl2: 28 yo SWF in search of... Prince Charming!!!
I haven't done a solo trip yet (still a student, and still poor) but I have a feeling that I'll be visiting WDW a lot more just as soon as I break out of prison (graduate from school). That's only a year away (June 2006) and I'm considering making the DVC one of my first purchases.
For now, I visit WDW at least once a year (in the summer) with my family (DM, DSF, DS, DB).
If any single DISers will be there anytime between 7/12 and 7/22, let me know!!!

Hi everyone!! I'll add myself to this thread....
I'm a 35 SWF who has been hooked on Disney since I was 3 years old. After college, made a point to come to Disney atleast 1x a year, and usually solo. I am now living about 15-20 minutes from WDW, and LOVING IT!!! I just moved down from Montgomery Village, MD in November.
My mother has even asked if I'm ever going to grow out of this (I told her not as long as there are ECV's to be rented :) )
If anyone ever wants to try to meet up at the parks, or for a meal PM me and let me know....I work weird hours, but maybe we could work something out.
Have a great weekend!

Well, here it goes. My first ever post like this anywhere. DWF, 46 from Kansas. I'll be in the world May 20-23 with boys of my sons, 23 & 19. I could use some "adult" time. (Yes, I know that my 23 yo is considered an adult. But he is after all my son, so that doesn't count.) Besides, it easier to get on rides with 4 people instead of 3.

Hello everyone, I'm a recently single Disney fan too. I'm 29 years old, never married, living in downtown Chicago. I don't post much (ok, never) but thought this topic was worth a post!
I haven't been to Disney World in a while... but I miss it. I'm looking forward to going back in 2006 if I can find the time. Funny how the older I get, the faster the days/weeks/months seem to go by.
I'm really enjoying reading everyone's posts. Cheers!

Hey all! I'm new here, but couldn't resist this thread. I'm a newly single 28 F, living about an hour from WDW. Like many of you, I've spent the past number of years with someone who flatly refused to share the magic. I would love to meet Prince Charming, but for now I'll settle for my AP. I'm in the parks a lot, sometimes solo, sometimes with newly widowed Dad. If anybody is interested in meeting up, let me know.

Just wondering what theater you mean? Did you see Beauty and the Beast at North Shore Music Theater? I worked on that one.
Another SWF here, 44 y/o and I absolutely love the magic of WDW! I'm going through a major change in my life right now: I live in Florida, but am contemplating a move to AZ or NV...if I end up out there, the first thing I will do is plan my first-ever trip to DisneyLand! :Pinkbounc I'll be deciding by the end of this month if I'll be staying in Florida another year (all those hurricanes last year freaked me out!) and if I do stay, I'll be buying an annual pass and doing the total Disney freakout for the length of the pass!

thought I was coming for my first solo trip and also a 'welcome home' to the dvc I just bought BUT it looks like word has gotten out...and now I think I might have some company. I think my sister wants to come for part of the trip at least, and then my half sister lives just a couple hours north and might come for a day...and DD might even fly from west coast to east coast to celebrate mother's day!
So I WAS solo May 7-12 but now I think family will be popping up all over.
But since plans have a habit of changing quickly...just wanted to pop in here to say: yea solo trips!

Just wondering what theater you mean? Did you see Beauty and the Beast at North Shore Music Theater? I worked on that one.
I did not see it at North Shore, though several people from our theater did, and thought the costumes were great! The director of the theater actually got in touch with NSMT to try and get their costumes, but it didn't happen.
I do theater at Theater at the Mount, a community theater in Gardner, MA.

A little aside here: I'm having a mini-meet at Tubi's Beffeteria in the WDW Dolphin on Sunday may 22 at 12 noon. It's not specifically a meet for singles, but it is a relaxed and friendly meet in a food court with no set structure or requirements other than 1) Show up, and 2) Have fun. If you are in WDW that day please consider dropping by; I've noticed that several people in this thread have trips scheduled for that week.
The sign-up thread is here:

Well, I am a 42 years young DisneyFunatic!!
I have a annual pass and I try to go down whenever I can get a good deal on airfare and a hotel.
Although staying on property is great. I usually stay off property so I can get the best deals and thus able to more often to my "HAPPY PLACE."
I am going May 13-16 and the only other trip so far is for Dec 17-25. I plan on going anthor time during the food festival and possible for another long weekend during the summer.

Too bad ccromier it would have been cool to meet up. I hope you have a great birthday and trip. Maybe we will meet up another time. I think I will try Jelly Rolls. Bradford is north of Toronto. Toronto is 5-6 hours west of Ottawa I have been there a few times it is nice down there.
Perhaps we will! Always willing to get to know Canadians. Must be the heritage. :) Let me know how Vero is, I almost considered going there the last day, but I didn't have enough points left. And definitely try out Jellyrolls, I've been several times, some alone, some with friends, and it was ALWAYS fun.

Hey all,
I’m a 22 year old single male; a senior in college (graduate in May! :cool1: ) – in fact, leaving for WDW a few hours after my graduation ceremony (as my graduation present - going with my Dad). I figure solo trips will come into play after I start working and stuff.
Haven’t met anyone (females, that is) who I gel with… nevermind liking Disney as I do. Friends at school just don’t understand. However, I’m always open to chat with others. And if you’ll be down there at the same time as me, I’d love to arrange a time to meet!

Been gone for a while and look what happens! DVC owning SBF in ATL turning 47 all too soon. I've discovered that I have a few people down in here (I'm formally from NJ) who'd be happy to go along as long as the hotel is free...so going solo is more of a choice now than it was in the past. It'd be great to find a disney loving guy who also loves outdoor sports...but I'd settle for the outdoor sports part and continue as a solo traveler if need be.

Jeff,
When I go on the DCL cruise this summer, I'm flying with a friend who has never flown either. We may need to form a support group. :teeth: I'm jealous that you are going to WDW in Oct. I won't make it until January.

I'm a single 30 year old male from NJ going to WDW Oct. 2-8. Actually I'm going with my brother (who is flying for the first time in his life and his first trip to WDW) but I'll pretty much be doing things myself as we will probably go our seperate ways when we are there. This is my first trip to WDW without a female companion so it will be odd but should still be fun :goodvibes

Going solo (or with some and going your own way) can be very fun. :) In some ways, I found it to be more fun than going with people. You can go on your favorite ride 10 times in a row and no one complains. ;)
Enjoy your trip. October is a great time to go.

CrCormier, you say you are always willing to get to know Canadians, well today is your lucky day...I am another Canadian girl. I am a SWF 30, from New Brunswick, Canada, that is on the east coast. I will be at WDW from May 6-13, can hardly wait. I have not been there in a about 6 years, I am way over due...ha ha ha. I had fun reading this thread, so I thought that I would post.
What part of New Brunswick? A lot of my family still lives in the Moncton/St. Antoine area, that's pretty much where all my grand/great-grandparents came from. Have a great time on your trip!!!

Yes, It seems that there are a lot of younger people that do like Disney a lot,I thought the same as you previously,I am 21 aswell & until recently felt there were not a whole lot of people my own age into Disney.I recently met a few people around same who would love to go to Disney Theme Parks & it seems the list is growing the whole time!!

Just a little reminder, I'm having a mini-meet at Tubi's Buffeteria in the Dolphin on Sunday May 22 at 12-noon. Even though it's not specifically for singles and solos, there will be several singles and solo trippers in attendance (so far the total is up to 16).
Tubi's is a food court, so the meet is very casual. You can eat lunch if you want to, or you can just drop in to say hello for a few minutes.
If you're available and interested, just post in this thread:

I just got back yesterday from a trip to wdw with a good friend of mine and his family. This was their first trip. Turns out they weren't quite ready for the whole theme park experience. I'm used to being there from opening to close (I usually go in December). They on the other hand didn't want to hit the parks until about 10 or 11 and were ready to go by 2:30. Needless to say after a couple of days of that I pointed them in the direction of the buses and went solo the rest of the day. I must say that it's a pretty good way to go. See what you want, when you want. Eat what and when you want. You can also take advantage of single rider lines. This may have been my first but it won't be my last solo trip. Unless I find that special someone that is.

I did my first solo trip in the same way; went with other people who just were not into it and broke apart and stayed solo most of the trip. I booked my first "real" solo trip shortly after I got back. I agree, I sometimes prefer solo over going with people...

If you love Xmas, you will love Disney at Xmas. I like the Osbournes Festival of Light at MGM. Two years ago they didn't have it as they were moving items. Last year it was up but it just didn't seem the same. Something was missing. There may have been as many lights (I doubt it) but I think that the stroll through the various streets that made up the old display was longer and in my opinion, more enjoyable. I'm heading to Orlando December 10 to the 24th. I head there every year before Xmas as I like the atmosphere at that time of year. Of course, swimming is a sometimes thing with unpredictable weather.

You know..it's funny? For years I wanted to be at WDW for Christmas with all the lights and things. Then, I move to Orlando and end up going home for Christmas! :rotfl:
The crowds are UNBELIVEABLE the week between Christmas and New Year's. All the parks are jammed..much worse than summer. You won't catch me at any of the parks during that time of year...once was enough!

When I was a kid, our family would go to Moncton every other summer for a week or so. Since high school trips have only been once every 4 or 5 years, and since the cousin that is my age moved to Ottawa, my last couple trips up north have been there, instead of to Moncton. I think the last time I went to Moncton was in 1998. Great city, though! And have a happy birthday trip there!

I always go in early December and the crowds are wonderful. I actually attentd MVMCP one night and there were times when it seemed as thought we were the only ones in the "land" at that time. Well worth the extra admission. Anyway I was going to say that I was there for the milleneum New Year before and after and I didn't find it too bad. The crowds were large but the lines were quite manageable. I found the stand by waits last week were longer. But with all the decorations up for Christmas it's unbelievable. This was my first trip outside of the Christmas window and it felt like something was missing. I guess I'll be back in the winter.

But want to go there as often as I do ...No. I cant understand why one would want to go anywhere else. I love the anticipation of my next trip as much as the trip itself (well almost)
It is nice to see there are others like me out there. My new job does not afford me vacation time for a while so I am in disney withdrawl. Oh well anticipation makes the heart grow stronger.

one day whirlwind last week. I went down to golf and only had one day in the parks. Needless to say, I could barely walk the next day but it was worth it. I can give you any tips you need.
I usually park hop on my last day to hit all my favorite attractions again. A regular one day ticket will not allow you to hop. You will have to add that feature to your admission ticket. A one day will cost you 100.91 with taxes and park hopping features. If you know you are going again, which I am sure you will be, I'd consider buying a longer stay ticket and adding the never expire to it. For example a 1o day park hopper with no expiration date bought in advance would be $353.58 or the same ticket but in a 7 day would be 296.08 or a 5 day would be 272.65.
I couldn't fathom paying over a $100 for one day when I could get 10 for $353. Of course if you wanted to just hit one park one day admission would only be 63.63.
So have I totally confused you? Feel free to pm me if I can clarify anything.

Funny I cant find a girl who will spend more than three days at the world with me. They are all a bit high matenance and dont like to spend a full day at the parks like I do. One time I took a girlfriend to MGM and she had the nerve to say "Do we really have to see Fantasmic". She proceeded to pout her way thru the show. HOW CAN YOU NOT SMILE AT FANTASMIC!!!!! I EVEN SHED A TEAR WHEN ITS OVER. Needless to say she did not last that long after the trip. I cant spend my life with someone who doesnt like Fantasmic.....refuse to.....sorry.

I guess im the one with the problem huh....oh well makes me feel good to know there are other freaks like me out there
You sound like the man of my dreams!! :wave2:

Miserable at Disney....that should be against the law! You are in the Happiest place on Earth. I can't believe there are people who don't want to spend 3 days there. I'm just getting started on day 3! :) I think we all need to plan to be down there together. We all understand each other on this board. :flower:

I only live a few hours from Disney but it is still hard to find the time to go. Due to my work schedule, my daughters works schedule and the fact both of us are in school we have started taking day trips. We don't even tell people anymore because they look at us like we have extra sets of Mickey ears. BUT....we have to have our Mickey fix!!! :mickeybar We are now planning a trip out to DL for June and of course the family reunion at Ft Wilderness in July. Now, lets see about Sept....... :earboy2:

How so very true. I just experienced my first "semi-solo" trip a week and a half ago because my friends I was with had no interest in seeing Fantasmic. This was even after repeatedly telling the that it was without a doubt the best nighttime show in the world. Anyway it afforded me to spend some time alone in the parks and I must say it was quite enjoyable. But on the other hand being able to share it with someone who loves it as much as you do would be 100 times better. Maybe next time.

Count me in.....42 year old male in Washington state. I've been 7 times since 2000 and it would have been more if I hadn't got derailed by marriage. Bought my AP in 2001 and got married to someone who wouldn't fly. Should have known better. It's a long drive from Washinton to Florida. Oh well, that problem is taken care of. Fly out next on Oct. 16. Can't wait!!!
Hi jpeppers! I see your from "Gods Country"!! Where abouts in Washington State are you? I had a trip to Neah Bay planned for last May....Halibut fishing. It never happened! Beautiful lands out there!

Wow, this thread is hopping!! Been at our favorite place the past few days, and I had about three pages to catch up on! Hiya to the new people! Had some meetups over the weekend with people from another board... I will never go back to doing Disney with people who just don't get it!! From here on out, it's solo or with other fanatics. I can't believe how much fun it is to run around with people who understand that it's a good thing to turn into a six year old and break into song at random intervals.
If any of you want to meet up when you're down here, PM me. I'm local with an AP and a pretty open schedule, so just let me know!!

I definitely suggest trying it solo at least once. Make it small trip the first time, just like 2 or 3 days. You don't have to wait for anyone to get ready. You can go where you want when you want to. No complaints at any time. My past 3 trips have been solo. The only part I never really liked about it was eating alone. I usually just stick to the fast food, stuff my face real quick and move on to my next stop. People will think you are nuts for going alone. I always hear " I can't believe you're going by yourself!" I just look at it as .. you only live once right.. so why should I wait to do something that I thoroughly enjoy doing until I have someone to do it with? . :earboy2:

You know, I've always been perfectly willing to admit that my Disney World obsession is MY problem, and my problem alone. But I'm okay with that.
I'm also okay with people who don't get Disney and don't want to go there. Whatever floats your boat, ya know?
But being okay with those poor, lost souls doesn't mean I have to date one of them! If I can't find a woman with at least a liking for WDW (she doesn't have to be obsessed, she just has to like the place), then too bad! I'll just go it alone for a while.

I don't think you'll have to try very hard either, I remember many fun nights out on the town in Moncton. Lots of great bands and clubs there!
Craig
Yeah Moncton does have a great night life. I love partying there, it is not too far away from home, so you may run into some people you know, but it is a change from home all at the same time. It also gives me a chance to hang out with my cousins that live there.
Well Craig only 2 more weeks and it is our happy birthday month...enjoy the month. I think we should celebrate all month long...we deserve it!!!

I think it is very easy to be miserable at Disney. Let me relate. The first time I went to Disney was in July 1995, the third week. I went by myself as several of my friends recommended taking a trip to Disney. I had no preconceived notions of what to expect (pre-Internet and I worked in Greenland so I couldn't just run to the library or bookstore). It was hot, in the upper 90s and lower 100s. When I got there, it was crowded. Worse, I felt that I had enter a strip mall with the endless rolls of stores. They did, of course, provide great relief because of the air conditioning.
The huge crowds :crowded: and hot weather meant terribly long waits to get on rides :sad2:. Where was the fun in this? :confused3 I went to Universal and thoroughly enjoyed it :) but not Disney. Oh, I should mention, I stayed at one of the hotels on Disney property - nice but not impressive. If I were to base Disney only on my first trip, I would recommend not going.
You want to enjoy Disney. GO at Christmas time. I love Xmas and Disney (as well as Universal) does Xmas well. I went in December 1996 to give Disney another chance. I have been going yearly in December ever since. I'm going December 10 to 24 (I spent last year for the first time between Dec 25 and Jan - it was okay but other than the Xmas day parade, you see everything in Xmas style). We could get together as a group. It should be fun!

well thats understandable then...i just meant being miserable because you didnt want to be there type thing..
My family is talking about going right after Thanksgiving, so either late november or beginning of december--im going to go with them, and depending on if i would miss school, i may extend the vacation for a mini solo trip...i just want to see everything all decorated!

You go, girl! Get him gone if all he wants to do is drink - there's too much to life to wallow away in alcohol.. (side note: I am not saying alcohol is evil, you can ask, I like my margaritas and beer as much as the next woman, but ONLY in moderation!)
Seems like I need to get Texas represented, so here goes! I'm a SWF, 32 (but turning 33 on my arrival day at WDW next month!) ::MinnieMo

Hope to find someone, someday who also loves Disney, being a Jimmy Buffett fan would be frosting on the cake. ::MickeyMo
Where in MI - I haven't heard of anyone else mention Disney and Jimmy Buffet in the same sentence before.
My dad played trivia with us at dinner when we were kids too. But it was general trivia prepared me forTrivial Pursuit years before the game hit the market, but when it did my brother, sister and I were prepared!
