A co-worker and three of her friends are going to drive to the Clearwater/St. Pete Beach area April 28th. They need one room with two beds and would like near the beach but it's not necessary to be right on the beach. They need something safe, as it will be four young ladies (at least one is married) in their early 20's. She asked me about how to find a place and I told her I'd post here to see if anyone can give me any ideas for a clean, safe place. Thanks for your help!

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree right on Clearwater Beach (right before the bridge over to Sand Key) It is at the end of Clearwater Beach so it is in a nice quiet, safe setting. Great views of the sunset! A nice pool and pool side bar. Nice beach area and good restaurants within walking distance! It is kind of a business/family resort. Not a big party atmosphere like some of the other hotels around that area. We love it! Good luck!

OMG I was going to post this exact same resort!! We spend at least a week here every year as we have relatives close by. I love this place, if you have Entertainment book or AAA you can get good rates.

For single women this would be ideal as its safe and a bit out of the way but definately in walking distance of the "night life" My sister and her fiancee stayed here and loved "coming home" from the madness at night.

Walking from the room out onto the beach and looking at that wonderful sunset can't be beat.

Thanks so much for that suggestion. It sounds great, but my co-worker said it's too expensive. Any other suggestions?

No suggestions, but the rates at almost all the beach resorts go down May 1st. The Holiday inn goes from 212 AAA rate to 160.

Kendall Motel at the Northern and quieter end of CWB. Its right on the beach - no frills, no pool, but you don't need them. We paid $75 a night for the two rooms -- front room is a full kitchen with pull out bed - like a daybed with a trundle. Bedroom has a king bed. We loved it. Great restaurant, Frenchy's, about a block away.
