Update - Ordered DDE card with AP Will Call #

I ordered 2 APs over the DVC website this weekend and chose Will Call as the delivery option. I later saw several posts about people not being able to order the DDE cards with Will Call #s. I called the DDE office this morning and spoke with a very nice CM who was originally from my home state. She took all of my information, including the Will Call confirmation #, told me it was no problem to order with this and said it would take about 6-8 weeks for the cards. I am going over Mother's Day weekend so I will probably not have the cards yet, but the CM told me to call back in early May if I haven't gotten the cards and they would email me the confirmation letter to use. How quickly does this email usually come and what expiration date do you think the DDE cards will have on them?

I got the e-mail within 2 or 3 hours. Your expiration will probably be 04/30/06 or 05/31/06.

I had much the same scenario in January. I had called DDE to see if you could order with just an AP voucher and she took my info before I even ordered the AP! (I told her I would order the AP right after I got off the phone with her, which I did) This was on 1/20/05. I received email AP voucher and DDE letter almost immediately. I activated AP 2/21 and used the DDE Letter for discounts totaling about $80-$90 over our 8 day stay. I received the DDE cards last week with an expiration date of 3/31/06! Whoopee! Now I can use those for trips in October, december and next Feb!

Can someone tell me how long the DDE card is good? I am traveling to DW on April 30 and am thinking of buying my granddaughter a AP (She lives with me, so I can get the DVC discount for her). However, I plan to finish up a three-day ticket on this trip before buying my own AP in December.

Granddaughter has another trip in September with her mom and again in December. Whose name has to be placed on the DDE? Could we use it this trip in April/May and again in September and December? Thanks...would appreciate any advice.

In theory, the card is good for a year. However, it seems they round it up a month when you order it (e.g. order in Jan, good thru the following Feb). I don't know how many cards they will issue. I do know that I was able to get a card for both my husband and I (with different last names).

The DDE Card must be issued to an adult age 21 and up.

Aaaggghhh!!!! I have been trying to order my DDE card with my will call #, and they keep telling me "NO"!!! Can anyone give me any hints as to how I can get this accomplished??

You can get up to 2 cards.

FYI - I read on a thread on the restaurant board that instead of sending an e-mail to use in place of your card, you know have to pick up a temp card at Guest Services at Epcot.

I talked to two CMs today regarding buying a DDE card with my AP will call # -- both emphatically said "No" and basically told me folks who post on these boards regarding their ability to do so were lying (which is not what I believe). It was a very frustrating experience. I guess we won't be able to use the DDE for this next trip since (1) you have to order via phone during weekdays, (2) we won't arrive in WDW until Friday evening, the earliest we can pick up our APs and (3) we'll be gone by Monday. UGH!!! :(

We're going to WDW in August and will be getting the DDE card. We haven't purchased our AP's yet. when should I order the DDE card to maximize the year in conjunction with the AP?

I ordered my DDE on Monday and spoke with Rosa and she did say they were making some changes to what people HAD to have available to order. I didn't do will call, but just wanted to let people know.
they are also not faxing your temporary letter but mailing it instead.

We ordered our DDE on March 4, 2005. We got the email from "Rosa" so we're okay for this trip, but we still haven't received our cards. Any hope that it will be here before we leave on May 1? Does anyone have any recent experience with how long it takes to get the cards??

I ordered ours around February 20th. I was getting concerned so I called last Friday. A very nice CM said she would put me on hold and check. She came back to say that they were processed on March 24th and after that are sent to Pennsylvania and they are the ones to actually mail the cards. She went ahead and faxed me the info as she thought it might be another week to 10 days. On Saturday they came in the mail and the expiration date on one is January 29, 2006 and April 30, 2006 on the other. I have no idea why the 2 different expiration dates but at least we have our cards for our trip on Tuesday.

So...the DDE card expires from the date you order...not the 1st day its USED (like the AP)???

I'll be going in Sept (have my DVC AP voucher)..then again in May 06.
So....I shouldn't order my DDE till near my Sept date??? right?? :confused3

I just wanted to tell you that I got my DDE card in the mail April 15th after ordering them on Feb 20th while we were there. They faxed an email confirmation right to the OKW for us to use while we stayed there. All the restaurant had no problem taking the fax copy for proof. But I have to say that the card are very nicely designed! I was billed in March on my credit card. My expiration date on the card is 4-30-2006!

We saved $85.00 on 3 very nice meals! It is so great!
