Regarding ponchos, the ones they sell at Disney and Universal are a lot better than the dollar stores ones which are thinner. The thinner ones are like garbage bags and blow up really easy in any kind of wind. I did those for a while and finally got sick of trying to keep them down.

Tips I have listen to in the past are:

go on favorite rides during a parade or fireworks show.

bring an empty suitcase to bring things home in.

Never stay off property.

Things I will listen to on this trip:

bring zip loc bags

bring lots of snacks for my two year old daughter

bring some disney souveniers from home so I dont have to spend too much in the parks.

get the meal plan

bringing my own stroller and car.

I would like to try and not do disney on fast forward so she can experience it ..will be hard..used to doing disney with adults.

After some rough disney days a few years ago, I did a google search for tips on how to better handle things. The following made the ending days of our vacation SO much better. I wish I would have found it sooner!

- Act like you got in for free.
This made us less inclined to try to get value out of package, and more time to just enjoy it!

- dont try to make your kids have "more" fun.
e.g. long character lines, rushing from ride to ride..etc

-indulging in everything they want while on vacation can actually back fire big time.
All I say about this for us.. is ice cream can come with a huge sugar crash, which is tragic when it happens in the middle of epcot, in the 90 degree heat, with a 20 minute wait time to take the boat.

- Take time out to rest. You don't miss out on the magic of disney, you'll only prolong it with well rested kids and adults.

:)

My tips (though some are repeats):

1. Crocs are the best shoe ever.... Comfy and can get wet.

2. Ice water is free. My son brings kool aid packets, I just like the water.

3. Just snacking on foods all day can be cheaper than counter service meals if you are paying out of pocket (most bakeries have yummy sandwiches for around $6)

4. Research the foods at Disney. I live here and spent 40 years of my life never having a Dole Whip or Zebra Dome. All I ever had were burgers. There are some amazing treats out there.

5. Be nice to strangers. Say please and thank you, give them an unused fast pass, smile, let a family go first, etc.......people tend to be very rude in the parks, especially around parade times. I try to go out of my way to be polite and do at least one random nice thing for someone. It makes me feel better knowing that they'll leave knowing some people are just nice.

6. Pack ponchos and at least a bathing suit for little ones. Wet underwear sucks. Especially when it's not summer lol

After the Monorail accident in '09 they suspended allowing guests to ride in the front of the Monorail. It has not been reinstated and it's unlikely to return for various reasons. :sad1:

By far - booking ADRs at the 180 day mark. :thumbsup2

This is the first time we're going to every restaurant we wanted and at the times we wanted. Dinner is at 6:30 PM every night of our trip except 5:00 PM prior to MNSSHP and 7:45 PM at California Grill for wishes at 9:00 PM. Also got early breakfasts at Chef Mickey's on our first day and Crystal Palace on our last. :cool1:

A lot of people don't like the taste of tap water in Orlando so regular refillable bottles might not work for you.
An eco-friendly way to have nice tasting water at WDW is a portable filter bottle, the Brita http://www.brita.com/products/filtering-bottle/brita-bottle/ or Rubbermaid
http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-20-Ounce-Filtration-Personal-Bottle/dp/B004RLNE5Q

The Brita worked well for us, lighter to carry than bottled water and you can ask for ice water at any WDW counter service and put it in the bottle.

For our first trip DD was 6 and DS was a month shy of 3. DD knew our home phone number but guess what? we werent home. I used a sharpie, wrote my cell number on their belly and taught them both to show it if they got lost. DS for the longest time afterward would lift his shirt if anyone asked his name. DD has always had a bracelet with the number on it but I worried that she would loose it.

Getting up early! I know many people have posted this already, but it really is the key!
I went in August and it was hot and crowded. I was at rope drop every morning. I rode the "Headliners" in under 2 hours. I was able to spend the rest of day enjoying the parks and riding rides, I may not have rode otherwise.

Bottom line: Be at Rope Drop every morning! If you get tired in the afternoon, go back and rest! :thumbsup2

~ If your child is like mine (DD6), and is afraid to go on rides where she does not know what is going to happen (ie Peter Pan's Flight, Toy Story Mania etc) go on youtube and show them videos of the rides. This will help them be so much less apprehensive and more excited!

We have been doing this for the past few months. We are going to WDW in 12 days!!!! and my kids are tall enough to go on some of the bigger rides so we have been watching youtube vidoes of the rides so they can see what they want to do and what they seem afraid of. Like I know my DD wants to go on TOT but my DS doesn't even want to watch it on youtube so I know he is not going to want to ride it when we are at the park. :)

The best tip I ever got was from a friend that seems to be on an endless trek to WDW. Research everything you can about the cost of your trip before you go, prepare accordingly leaving plenty to spare, then kiss it goodbye about two weeks before you leave. No meltdowns for me halfway through vacations and I am so much more relaxed when I am there.

Best advice I got was to ask for a glass of water. Its free and they have to give it to you. No need to carry your own water into the parks.

The best advice I took was to go during Labor Day week when the crowds are the lowest. I know not everyone can do this because of work, kids back at school, etc. But if you can swing it, you can pretty much have the run of the place.

:cool1:

However, you do have to get to the parks early because they close earlier. I'll take that trade...

Now, I'm just a Disney Spoiled Brat (DSB). Can we make an acronym for that?

I go one step further and bring refillable water bottle to the parks, ask for a cup of ice water from any CS restaurant, then pour the ice water into my refillable bottle. Works great, and you can toss the (refillable) water bottle into your backpack.

Here's the bottle I bring: It's called a Rubbermaid "Chug" bottle. BPA-free, and has a great twist-off top that allows you to fill up your own bottle at serve-yourself CS restaurant pop machines (and ice makers!). I filled it every morning at the POR food court, with both ice and water, and threw it in my backpack. It says it's leak-free, but I put it in a ziploc bag just in case. It was fabulous! And it only cost about $4 on sale; found mine @ Target.

what are pinbacks?

The backs of Disney Trading Pins. The stock ones are pretty good, but a sharp tug (on a ride) will a pin free. If you are a pin trader, it is good to always carry spares, and for those special pins that you can't stand to lose, a few locking pin backs.

Warning, pin trading is a highly addictive activity!

I just bought the Brita bottle and I really don't like it. Its so hard to get the water out of the bottle. You have to squeeze really hard to get the water out, and there is last 5 or 6 oz or remainig water in the bottle which is impossible to get out. I also don't like that the cap is not attached to the bottle.

I'm glad to hear you say this. I tried the Bobble (http://www.waterbobble.com/) and, while it works well, I'm not crazy about the bottle itself. It feels like stiff plastic - for lack of a better way to describe it. So I've been on a hunt for a different filter bottle and was looking at the Brita. Guess I'll keep looking. :surfweb:

Bring band-aids with you! Even though I had great shoes, when a little moisture from Splash Mountain (or the Florida humidity) got on my feet, my shoes start to rub and cause hot spots- a little band-aid completely fixed it and I would have been miserable without them!

Also, if you want to try a lot of different foods (especially at Epcot), do a food crawl and share with your spouse so you can sample LOTS of different foods!

And if you know its going to rain...eat BEFORE the rain hits! It rained everyday of my last trip and of course I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and get something to eat while we wait for the rain to let up- bad idea! Everyone else was thinking the same thing. The result? NO WHERE to sit and eat, or even set your food indoors out of the rain for that matter- at one point I set my tray on top of the trash can cover and ate on top of that.

We just got back from Disney. Had a GREAT trip. One of the tips I am SOOOOO glad I listened to was to take pictures of the numbers on your Photopass cards. We thought we were doing a good job of keeping track of cards and getting them combined but at some point we lost one. :confused3 When we got home and I put the photo pass card # in I realized we were missing a lot of pictures. No one could find any other cards but we had taken pictures of the numbers and we found the number we were missing and put it in. If we hadn't taken a picture of that card we would have lost about 50 pictures of our kids with Stitch, Rosetta, Tink, Jasmine and Aladdin. As well as a bunch of random pictures of us in front of the Castle, The Tree of Life, etc.

One of the other tips I appreciated was to wet a washcloth and keep it in the fridge and then bring it with you to the park in a ziplock baggie. It was SO humid while we were there and I really loved being able to wipe my face and neck with that really cold cloth. It obviously didn't last long in the heat but I loved it while it lasted. :)

Power Strip, so much easier than looking behind all the furniture when you had multiple things to plug in.

Free Ice Water at counter services in park (I am a water snob, except for one place all the ice water was just fine).

And I also got water at a couple of 'stands' that had fountain drinks. That seemed to be the thing. If they gave you water from a soda machine it tasted fine, tap or the public fountains, not so good.

Just back from our 1st DW trip. Best tips, in my opinion:
1) Change shoes every other day! Saved my dogs, to be sure!:dogdance:
2) Walking ahead of time to get in shape! I was averaging 1 mile a day before. I'm sure it was more like 10, or it felt like it... I never would have kept up if I hadn't gotten used to walking ahead of time.
3) Explore little nooks and crannies. You never know what magic you'll discover. My favorite? The barber shop in MK, nestled into the far left corner at the beginning of Main Street. We got our sprinkle of pixie dust for our anniversary. My DH is a good sport. They called his pirate dust.

Moleskin was a life saver on our trip. It is meant to prevent blisters, so you would cut out a piece of it and put it wherever your blisters tend to develop. I felt a blister coming on the bottom of my big toe so I put one there for a couple of days and it was fine by the end of the week. It's self-adhesive so you don't need anything to apply it. It's not medicated, just thick padding to prevent blisters.

I did get a blister on the back of my ankle, and used Dr. Scholl's blister defense band aids and it helped on those.

Yes. Moleskin is for preventing blisters. Best way to describe it is, it's like a padded band-aid. You can pretty much buy it anywhere. I usually find it where I find all the Dr. Scholl's supplies. You can buy one big sheet and cut it yourself, or you can buy pre-cut packages. You apply it just like you would a band-aid. Peel the back off to reveal the sticky side and apply it where you need it. Most people use it where there footwear (mostly sandals and flip-flops) rubs on there feet. If you know exactly where you footwear rubs, you can apply it before putting on your footwear. Or you can apply it later on in the day if you feel that you might get a blister in a certain area. Comes in handy and has saved me from a blister or 2. :thumbsup2

Just back from our first WDW trip as two adults. Best tips in my opinion are...

-Moleskin. I put this on where I felt blisters developing and they were fine in a few days.
-I usually live in flip flops in the heat but quickly found out with the humidity and amount of walking that no flip flop was going to work. So I wore sneakers all day every day but my feet were fine.
-Invest in good ponchos. I saw people struggling with the dollar store ones but we had invested in good Coleman ponchos and they worked well. Our hoods stayed up and they were long enough to keep us dry.
-use the package delivery service if you are staying on site! I was hesitant to use it for fear my items would be lost or broken, but they all arrived safely the next day (I was told 48 hours) and I was so happy to not have to carry them around at the parks.
-If going to a water park, bring two pool towels from your resort so you don't have to rent them. But be sure to bring them back with you and return them at your resort pool.
-mid-day breaks were very necessary in the heat. We found hitting RD, riding rides and collecting FPs, then going back to go in the pool and relax and returning to the park at night using the FPs worked best for us. We did everything we wanted to!

Parents, Disney is so exciting, that it's hard to believe accidents can happen in the park! When you get your park guide in the morning; make a mental note of the first aid stations. Here's what happened to us.

When DD was about 12, she took a really bad fall off her bike at home and really skinned her knee:sad2: A few days later, we left for Disney. She was so excited to see a character in world showcase, she rans towards him (Tigger), and she fell on that same knee. The darn thing busted open like mad, blood gushing, gross, despite the bandage that was there. She was very upset, and I'm sorry to say, embarrassed, although we had so much help from people around us with napkins, baby wipes, etc. I don't know why but earlier that morning I'd noticed the location of the first aid station (in the old Odyssey bldg):confused3. We got her there right away for fresh dressing, a clean-out, and just to calm her down and not upset other children with the sight of blood. The nurse there was so wonderful and calming.
Epilogue: All was well after some new socks, Disney bandages, and some children's tylenol... :)

My cousin is lucky enough to be a nurse at Disneyland. It's also a great place to get out of the heat and usually all of them have a good cold water fountain.

Well, we just returned 2 weeks ago and I will tell you the tips we used that I found either enhanced, provided ease or more enjoyment to our trip.

1. We rented a car because I got a killer deal through my work for a Kia Sorrento for $163/week inclusive and we were flying into TPA and needed it at least for 1-2 days. We decided to keep it and budgeted for it. HOWEVER, the tips I used were: we did not drive to MK or MK area resorts, HDDR or DTD. We took the boat to DTD, buses to MK (& then boat to HDDR) and all trips were very efficient and speedy. I know part of that reason was because we were there the last week of October and crowds were probably lower. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. I know our experience isn't universal, which is why I was glad we had the car as back up. The only time it was a little "dicey" was coming back from MK at the close and the buses were full and either myself or my DH stood and the other held out daughter so as to only take up one seat. The car came in very handy for Epcot and AK. I know we made it to EP in 10 from POR. Got there early, had AAA Diamond and walked in with the CM's. AK, the same way.

2. We did 2 breakfasts at parks we wanted to visit, thus, "forcing" us to get there early and be there before the crowds. When I say "force" -- we were not under duress...it really added to our enjoyment. We did Akershus and RFC at AK for breakfasts at 8:30. Consequently, we were done by 9:10-9:15 and on our way to fun.

3. We used fast passes like the pros. Considering it was our first trip to WDW, the only way we'd have known the "ins and outs" of using the fast passes (even though they are explained around the park) was this board. Strategy was key. We got a fast pass, then went to the standby for Soarin', BTMRR, Splash, Kali and others several times and it worked out great. It allowed us to ride our favorites several times back to back.

4. We took advantage of MNSSHP to ride to our hearts' content. That party really provided us an awesome opportunity to practically walk on everything in MK and see the sites. I loved going to the party. It was awesome. POTC, BTMRR, SM, everything in Fantasyland....awesome, no waits. Loved, loved, loved it.

5. Bought park hoppers and used them. I'd advise, though, to add them after you get there. The reason we used them, is the opportunity presented itself and that's what worked for us. We had a short day and then we took a quick trip into MK before our ressie at Narcoosee's to ride my DD7's favorite, BTMRR! She loved it. I can see using PH's more when she is older and can go to more of the evening EMH's. They aren't for everyone. Budget for them, if you think you may want them, but add them later.

6. Went to MK more than we had planned. The best laid plans should be those than can change and are flexible. We also took a "day off" in the middle of our trip. We were exhausted because we were newbies that really wanted to see as much as possible because we didn't know if we'd return. We really thought this would be a once in a long time (lifetime) thing; however...that has since changed!

7. We really took in the sites of each park and each area of each park. We had to laugh at the Smucker's window beside Mainstreet Bakery because Smucker's HQ is in our area and we are so used to it and knowing people who work there. My DD7's classmate/friend is their granddaughter and we forget it's a famous name. I don't think she still believes it is her friend's grandpa that runs the company. She kept telling me I was wrong. LOL The commercials are true! Very normal, wholesome, kind family.

8. We (well, I) made lists for each park. The commercials are wrong. After you win the Superbowl, you just can't hop on a plane and go to WDW without a plan, people! :lmao: I guess if you are a millionaire, then you have a tourguide, so no worries, but the rest of us schmucks need some sort of plan...especially newbies. I'm not saying you have to plan yourself to death, but you do need a strategy. Maybe that is a better word. So, I took the advice of the Dis, got some travel guides, looked on here as well as the WDW site (and other sites...shhhh) and made lists of things that looked "fun/interesting" for OUR family. I had a card for each park. I chose restaurants that looked good to us and made ADR's. Surprisingly, we did most all the things on our lists and got the ADR's we wanted.

9. The silhouettes at MK. Best deal in town. You get 2 silhouettes for $8.00! That's right $8.00. AWESOME. They are speedy and very accurate. My daughter's was spot on!

10. Don't eat yourself to death just because you ended up getting FD with your package. We ate when we were hungry. We cancelled an ADR one day for lunch because we were full from breakfast still (it was our MNSSHP day and we didn't want an evening ADR) We were over by 1 ADR anyway because we had Narcoosee's. We each had 1 CS credit left when we departed. We took our leftover snacks with us to the airport.

11. Use guest services/concierge. They are so knowledgeable. The concierge checked us in the day before departure on our flight, even asked if we wanted to upgrade. Gave us awesome directions to everywhere and a great route to the airport -- no traffic. On our last day we were at MK and our dinner was at AKL at Boma. We knew we weren't going to make it (as much as we wanted to) as our DD and we, as well, were having too much fun at MK. So we went to guest services in MK and they cancelled it for us and got us into...hold on to your britches...'Ohana for that evening, which he, even said NEVER happens. We also used out AAA discount when we could. I also had Landry gift cards to Rainforest I had bought from my daughter's gift card program at school.

12. Took DD to Harmony BBShop for a trim and updo with pixie dust. It was beautiful. Cost $23.00 total and she got lots of compliments. She already has lots of the princess outfits and we knew with her hair (long, thick, curly) pulling it tight like at BBB would be "challenging" and uncomfortable for her.

13. Left before wishes was over. Wishes is beautiful, but to me, kind of nightmarish dealing with the crowds and mass exodus.

14. Took in Main Street Electrical Parade -- too awesome for words!

15. Bought the little card holder necklace from the resort gift shop. No more searching for our KTTW or CC's or anything. Love that little thing. Saved my sanity.

16. Finally, don't despair if something that was on your "to do" didn't come to fruition. I really wanted to see Illuminations, but my DD was tired, so we left after our dinner at Rose & Crown (which was stellar, BTW) I found myself making a mental check list of ...the next time we will have to do such and such. I guess there WILL be a next time!

If I have any other revelations I'll post them, but this has turned into a book as it is! But these tips from this board went a long way to enhancing our trip! This board was so invaluable, I cannot state it enough!

Hi LisaTC,
What are these? Are these charcoal characature / drawings? If yes, how did you keep them from being wrinkled, bent, etc. throughout the rest of your day in the park and transport them home?

Thanks very much,

he best tip I was given was: to go to the Disney site and make you own maps with all our must do/see things. I went to the site and sat down with the kids and looked at all the rides and shows and i knew which ones they would be tall enough for and which ones they were dying to do. I knew we wouldn't see and do everything, and this gave us an idea of what everyone "had" do see/do. We got all the favorites out of the way 1st then did everything else. Each time we go we make new maps with our new favorites or things we haven't got to do/see yet.

Hi LisaTC,
What are these? Are these charcoal characature / drawings? If yes, how did you keep them from being wrinkled, bent, etc. throughout the rest of your day in the park and transport them home? Thanks very much, Dan

Here is a example of a silhouette: http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0PDoS9JdsJO_0gAvfOJzbkF;_ylu=X3oDMTBlMT Q4cGxyBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDaW1n?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimage s.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3F_adv_prop%3 Dimage%26va%3Dsilhouette%26fr%3Dgoodsearch-yhsif%26b%3D1%26tab%3Dorganic&w=3333&h=3300&imgurl=madeinrichmond.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2010%2F01%2Fsilhouette.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fmadeinrichmond.net%2Fsilhouette% 2F&size=281.3+KB&name=Made+in+Richmond+%C2%BB+Silhouette&p=silhouette&oid=194dbfbd03abae578f4f4baa6b8b1a82&fr2=&fr=goodsearch-yhsif&tt=Made+in+Richmond+%C2%BB+Silhouette&b=0&ni=30&no=4&tab=organic&ts=&sigr=115poo5t7&sigb=13eii2g7j&sigi=11sg6jd62&.crumb=O3A9hhufS7I

They do two by folding the paper in half. They put it between two pieces of cardboard and we got a frame as well and they put it in the frame which has a plexiglass insert. (Even with the frame (Oval, black thick frame, it was only $17.00) WE did it on the way out, but they will ship it to your resort if you are staying on property. The same place also does charcoals and colored (oil?) drawings/portraits.

When my boys were little, I wrapped up little dollar store toys and "Mickey" left them one every night. That is still on of their favorite memories! When I got to go with my friends 5 year old twin girls recently, Tinkerbell brought gifts every night and hid them. They were all from the dollar tree but Tink wrapping paper made them magical. Lots of fun, and really motivated them to get up in the mornings.

That's the one large tip I'm taking away from this increadible thread; take the time to actually visit the different stores on Main Street in MK and others to find these hidden gems. Since my DD is not that much into rides (she's much rather see the shows) and with us there for 2 weeks next spring, we will have the time to explore.

I am glad I took umbrellas, it didn't rain but I used them for shade while waiting for parades on unshaded benches. :thumbsup2
I strapped a fanny pack to the bottom of my stoller and loaded it with ponchos and first aid: tylenol, antibacterial wipes, husbands extra meds, among others.

Crystal light packets

Our family is loving the Mio concentrates. Can't get them up here in Canada, but we buy a handful every time we are in the US. Best thing is that you can make it more to taste; some of us are one squirters, and some of us are three squirters...

Hello, I am a newbie to all of this. This will our first trip to Disney and I have found these discussion boards to be so helpful. I have been very overwhelmed with so much information and I had no idea you had to plan sooo far ahead for reservations to eat. We are going in less than a month. Will it just be impossible to get reservations now? Especially for character dining?

to get ADRs. Character dining will be a little more difficult. I suggest you use the Disney site search engine and be flexible on your times. The search engine will look at available times within two hours either side of the time you put in.

You used to be able to search all character options at once but it appears Disney has changed that.

Keep trying over the next month. I made a mistake on a date for Chef Mickey ADRs a couple of trips ago and was able to find a replacement a month pr so before our trip. CM is one of the harder ADRs to get.

I would look at Tusker House lunch also. It was not a character meal until this month. The announcement probably came after a number of people had booked their reservations.

Good luck.

Depends on your travel dates. Some character dining meals will book up 6 months out, especially if you are traveling during a high crowd week. Have you planned your park days? Do you have park hoppers? That can all make a difference in working ADRs into your schedule. As the pp stated, you need to do a serach on the Disney site and see what's available.

Just got back from our vacation and wow, some of the tips I got on here were invaluable.

1)Caribiner Clips!!!! - Wow, who knew? I almost always get stuck hanging onto my DH's camera or a baseball cap on a ride because I have the purse. Not this time! DH and DS clipped their cameras right to their belt loops and their hats as well. I clipped my camera to my Ameribag and it was always in easy access and I never had a purse overflowing with electronics.

2) Plastic bags and ponchos for water rides. Fantastic and I don't think all of our cameras and phones would have survived without them.

3) Coffee maker for room - We stayed at a Value and I need my daily wakeup cup. DH thought I was nuts but it made for a less stressful get ready time every day when we were able to have a nice cup before leaving for the day. When we ate breakfast at the resort I would bring my Starbucks brewed coffee in a disposable cup and get a bottle of water with my meal for later in the day.

4) Free cups of ice water at QS locations - It was not that hot for our trip but a few times we needed cups of water to take Advil or just quench a thirst. I don't always want a giant cup of soda or to lug a bottle around so this was fantastic.

5) Using Disney GC's to budget spending money for the kids. This was a great idea and eliminated a lot of needless souvenirs because the kids were more careful with their money.

I am sure there are a lot more tips I took from the board that were useful but these were definitely ones I was constantly thankful for.

Here are the tips that proved to be very useful for me:

1) Get there EARLY! I was there for rope drop every day, and for EMH whenever applicable. I was there during the week before xmas, so it was pretty crowded, but I was absolutely astounded how much I could get done. For example, MK EMH started at 7 a.m. From 7-9, I had ridden all of the major attractions, before most people had even arrived at the park

2) Ride rides in the evening and during parades/fireworks. The lines were almost as short during these times as they were during the early morning hours.

3) Another vote for ponchos & ziplocs. I rode Splash Mountain at 10 at night. There was no one in line, because it was dark and chilly out. I put on my poncho and stayed totally dry. Then bagged the wet poncho in a ziploc bag.

4) Baggalini Messenger. This bag was perfect for a solo adult. I was amazed how much I could fit in it! Including a lightweight hoodie for when the weather got cool. It slings across the chest making it very comfortable for all day wear. And when you need something out of it, or are on a ride, you don't even have to take it off - just sling it around to the front!

5) Butterfinger cupcake from Starring Rolls Cafe in HS - delicious!

6) Make use of single rider lines. This was a huge time saver for me as a solo traveler. But lots of families used them, too, if they didn't mind separating their party to ride.

7) Candlelight Processional Dinner Package. Book the package, and then line up early! I wouldn't have gotten in at all without the package, and wouldn't have gotten good seats if I hadn't lined up an hour beforehand.

After my trip this past September, I would say if you can swing it, go after Labor Day! We had basically the run of the parks! I'm so spoiled at this point that I'll probably never go before Labor Day again...

We also used out AAA discount when we could.

Lisa,
Can you list a few of the places were you used your AAA discount in WDW, whether it is in the parks themselves, at your WDW resort, etc.?

That would be really helpful!

Thank you,

Not sure if this has been posted but....

If I had to pick one of the things I was happy to have listened to it would be watching "Wishes" on the beach at the Polynesian.

We finished supper at 'Ohana at around 7:30(ish) and just walked down around the back of the building and found the beach very easily. It was great, there were very few people on the beach and the piped the "Wishes" music onto the beach. We then took the small ferry back across to the MK. That was a view everyone should see. Great tip!

Got thru the first 50 pages, some good tips, some I knew some I didn't. This will be my first trip in 12 years. I am looking for more adult-only tips. It will just be me and my future DH(will be DH then). We plan on arriving for rope drop, taking in our own water & snacks, using fastpasses. We would like to get the most out of our time and do it "commando" style for the most part, we have no ADR's, we are going in June and we are staying at AS Sports. Are other bottled beverages allowed in the parks like Gatorade? We were planning on packing as much as we could in our suitcases of snacks/water/drinks because we each get 2 free bags and should be able to fit everything in 4 bags(2 or 3 hopefully) to keep each under the 50lb max for free. We also plan on taking in a backpack with the bottled drinks, snacks, ponchos, first aid/med kits, sunscreen other essentials etc. Is the free cup of water still in effect. I know the fastpasses are now expiring. We don't really plan to go back to resort during the day, I only plan to do 1 park each day and except for epcot as we plan on going there on arrival day and then park hop one day on the rest of epcot and anything else we may have missed as a more casual day. Just kind of looking for the more adult centered tips I may be missing, like shortcuts in walking or something similar to beat crowds and lines. I have already read the UG for 2012 and been on TP.com. Thanks

That's cool, I'd do that next time we go! The last two times we went, after the parade, we left the park and just hung out by the boat dock and watched the fireworks from there.

packing rain ponchos

This was a great tip that we used in 2007. However it has become a family joke because on day 1 we spent the morning at the hotel and then went to MK in the afternoon. Since we weren't going to be there a full day I decided not to bring my backpack filled with all the things we might need. As our luck would have it... it POURED and without dollar store rain ponchos we had to purchase 4 Disney ponchos ..... which aren't cheap!
Lesson: always bring your backpack!!!:rotfl2:

My first post on the DIS (yay!) and sorry if it had been mentioned previously, but if you have a birthday in your group, get that button and wear it proudly for your whole stay! Last summer I took my kids and the trip just happened to fall on my twins' 7th birthday. Their big brother's 17th birthday was coming up in the next few weeks and the CM at the resort even made him a button. He wouldn't wear it, but the girls did and....got a special VIP introduction on Star Tours, got to "introduce" the Little Mermaid show, got Happy Birthday sung to them in German by the performers at the Biergarten, got a birthday cake at Cinderella's Royal Table, got wished happy birthday by everyone....even the bus driver on the way back to the resort one evening decided that they needed little toy rings. Big brother finally decided that maybe he should have worn his, too! We're going back this fall with my sister and her family for our birthdays!!:woohoo:

Practical tips:
zip lock bags in every size for a variety of reasons--I used zip lock bags all over the place. I kept one in the diaper bag for dirty clothes, one in my fanny pack for items that I didn't want to get wet, I used them for groupling things together in luggage to make searches faster

brita fill n go--this saved us a bundle in money. Since they have been discontinued I need to go stock up on filters

fanny pack--yes, they are unattractive, but man, they are handy

buy small fan to use in parks before you go

head back to the resort in the afternoons

Magical tips:

Ride in the conductor's car of the monorail
Make breakfast PS times before MK opens (8:30)

Get a window seat while eating in the castle and an aquarium seat while eating at Coral Reef

In our experience you need ADR's for all Table Service locations, unless you get really lucky, and even then there might be an opening for an odd time. We had great experiences at each of these locations. Happy Planning! pixiedust:

While we haven't watched Wishes from the Poly beach before, I just love walking around this resort in the evening, with the torches lit and the island music playing. It's a great place to spend some time in the evening. I'm not sure what time it takes place, but they also have the electrical water parade along the resorts located on the water.

A lot of people mentioned bringing individual mix ins for the water. My husband is a Gatorade fan and I don't believe they have individual packages (could be wrong, but haven't seen them). So I'm planning on using a formula divider and dispenser for him. Hopefully it will work well.

I think the absolute best advice was to bring an over the door shoe organizer. I hung it on the closet rack and put everything in it and wow what a great thing. I plan to put it in my suitcase for all my trips now. Doesn't take up much room but holds all those little items.

Also I brought a small flash light which was awesome since the clock did not light up and I could use it to go to the bathroom without waking everyone up.

I've also seen the individual Gatorade packs in the fitness section at Walmart. Bought a bunch for my husband when he was in Afghanistan.

We've also had a sit n stand stroller and we brought it for our second Disney trip in '09. My daughter was 5 and my son was one. I was so glad I had it! My daughter was at that age when she wanted to be a big girl and walk everywhere, but she always had the sit available when she needed to rest.

WOW. Extremely thankful that I stumbled upon this site while doing some research, particularly this thread!

I'm not sure what to do as far as a stroller is concerned. We're staying onsite, but flying in from North Carolina, so bringing a stroller with us is not really an option. Are there small umbrella strollers for sale anywhere in WDW, or only rentals? It's just me, my husband, and our 5 year old.. I'm afraid he's going to get tired, and he's too big to be carried (by me, at least). I wonder if I could somehow cram an umbrella stroller into our suitcase.. lol.

I was there last month with my 5 yr old son & if I had not had a stroller, it would have been terrible! Their little legs just can't keep up that pace and since most fireworks/night shows are over past his normal bedtime, he was tired! I also liked the fact that when it was busy during parade times/exiting the park at night, he was sitting safe, right in front of me.

We fly down from Indianapolis and have never had a problem gate-checking a stroller. Check your bags, take it with you thru security, be sure to get a tag from your airlines counter when you're waiting to board. The person that takes your boarding passes will tell you where to leave the stroller. Then it's waiting for you after you land as you exit the plane.

I also found several umbrella type strollers on Walmart's site for around $40. The one I bought was by First Years and holds up to 50 lbs. It folded up easy to get on the bus back to our resort, and helped to have it again at the resort for walking back to our room from the bus stop at the end of the night. Also cheaper than renting if you're there more than 3 days.

Who are you flying? We usually fly SW out of Raleigh, and I have seen tons of people use a stroller all the way down to the door of the plane and then they put a tag on it and store it in baggage. Is this not an option on your airline?

I guess that saves one of the biggest worries I've had. We'll be flying US Airways, I'll have to look up their policies. Thanks sammyjo1871 and RweTHEREyet! :)

pretty common for airlines to allow you to take your stroller all the way to the gate and do a gate check. Usually you have to wait as you exit the plane for them to pull your stroller. This allows you to use it all through the airport. We did this several times when our kids were younger.

You should have no problem with usair and your stroller. Having the stroller also makes getting through the airport easier.

I think the best advice I was ever given is to try everything, even if you don't think you'll enjoy it. Even the attractions I'm not a fan of have some Disney magic present that make my trip more memorable.

:yay:

I loved the shoe holder advice too! I am making sure I pack mine for the next trip!

If there's an attraction you want to ride, get a FP for it first thing. Never ever wait until the afternoon because then you'll see that evil sign that says "All Fastpasses issued." This is ridiculous. Why even have Fastpass systems if they shut them down at certain times of the day? The really bad thing about the system is the way people "use" it. When you go up to the booths, you see dozens and dozens of them scattered on the ground. This DOES affect the availability because the FP machine probably cuts out after issuing a certain number. The system of issuing them needs to be revised. And yes, I stopped and looked through all of them, quite a few were expired. I think that it's fair that someone's ticket shouldn't let them get a FP for two hours if they got two and never used them. They're making it worse for everyone else. How many FPs, did I actually GET during my last visit to EPCOT? Two. Yes, two. By 3 pm, the machines stopped issuing them.:headache: I loitered around The Seas and the Norwegian pavilion and went home because, from the math I calculated that the parks would be closed before I got to see anything else.

Of course getting to the park early and getting fastpasses as soon as you can is good advice. They do run out of fastpasses for the most popular rides. But at Epcot, there are only two rides you really need fastpasses for, if you don't want to wait long - Test Track and Soarin'. I don't understand why you felt you wouldn't be able to see anything else before the park closed. :confused3: What about all the other pavilions? What about the other attractions in Futureworld that generally don't have long lines? I could have a fantastic day at Epcot without ever getting on an attraction, actually.
I've never seen fastpasses on the ground around the machines - is this because they are now enforcing the return times? If so, I'd be picking them up off the ground!

EPCOT, and specifically Soarin' is the only place I've seen run out of Fastpasses. The fastpass system doesn't shut down until all of the fastpass spots are issued. In EPCOT, there are only two rides that need FP--Soarin' and TestTrack.

I'm glad I took a tip to ride in the front of the monorail (back when that was possible). We've done it twice, and it made our trip into MK that much more special. I'm sorry to hear that it isn't allowed anymore. The other tip is to bring lunch/snacks. It saves a lot of time and some money.

That is incorrect. Maelstrom in the Norwegian pavilion also issues them as well as Livin' with the Land.

Toy Story Mania runs out of FP by the time we can even make it into the park most days. That's where that giant crush of people go when the gate opens.

It's not very often less than uber busy. I've never seen the standby line for Soarin' (and some others) at less than 60 minutes. I'm not willing to spend an hour waiting in line (plus it would kill my back), so we use FP. Now I hear that they have cracked down on the return times, which is a real bummer because if the return time being given out at the time you're at the FP machine doesn't jive with your schedule for the rest of the day, it's stressful, too.

An aside, DL doesn't make near as much use of the FP machines. When we visited there, we found that we really didn't need them, although it would have been nice for TSM. The line for that was out of the building and up around the bridge past Ariel's Grotto!!!

It took me what seems like days to read through all of the tips and wanted to say thank you for the great ideas. We are doing our second trip in June (first trip in 2008) and it's amazing the ideas and tips people have. We're there for over a week (off site) and kids are old enough to be on their own, so I think DH and I will be good with doing our own thing. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two and be able to post for someone else. Thanks again!!:cool1:

Wear the rain ponchos on Kali River Rapids.....

First trip we were soaked and walked around with wet clothes and sneakers all day.

Next few trips, we wore the ponchos and rode the ride three or four times in a row, first thing in the morning.

We gave the ponchos to another family waiting in line. :flower:

I take it a step further. I wear my CLEAR rain poncho BACKWARDS!!! With the hood over my face.:boat: I always got to see the looks on people's (wet)faces, while I'm dry. Can't keep the "hood" up very long though, gets hot quick!

I have another alternative to this - wear a ball cap THEN put the poncho hood up over the cap and extend it over as far as it will go. It keeps my face nice and dry cuz we all know those ponchos can get hot enough to grow veggies!

The tip about carrying extra pennies and quarters was a big hit for my kids. The way Disney sets up merchandising at the attractions makes it hard when your kids hound you for gifts after each one. So this is an inexpensive way to let them collect souvereirs

Can someone tell me what souveniers people are referring to. I can't imagine anything only costing a penny or a quarter!

We just snagged an umbrella stroller that is in excellent condition online from the Yahoo Freecycle group! Can't get any cheaper than free!!

They are talking about the penny press machines. ALL over the World there are penny and even quarter press machines. Pretty much at every attraction, resort, etc.... They even have penny press books for you to keep them in.

I worked hard at finding older nice looking pennies before we went. We had a blast with it.

These are a huge hit with my son! A nice, shiny penny and 2 quarters go into the pressed penny machines, out comes the themed penny souvenir. They have them all over all 4 parks, and we found a bunch at the Contemporary while waiting for our Chef Mickeys ADR. So I'm guessing other resorts have them as well. We've even seen a pressed penny book for sale in some of the shops. It has these little plastic clear sleeves to display all the pennies you've collected along the way.

A lot of people mentioned bringing individual mix ins for the water. My husband is a Gatorade fan and I don't believe they have individual packages (could be wrong, but haven't seen them). So I'm planning on using a formula divider and dispenser for him. Hopefully it will work well.

Gatorade makes an individual serving powder packet - we took them with us when we went. :thumbsup2

Here's a link to some on Amazon - but I just got them from the grocery store. The formula powder divider is a good idea, though, if you can't find the flavor you want in individual packets!

I read somewhere on the disboards about the Bagellini being the best bag for the parks. Well I bought one before our trip last year and haven't been able to give it up yet. It wears like an over-the-shoulder sling so I can wear it on my back, but I can also spin it around front at the drop of a hat to pull something out or in crowded places. It's waterproof so no worries on water rides. It held everything we needed for 6 people last year...ponchos, bottled water, camera, money, tickets, you name it, it fit without being very heavy or bulky. When it wears out (IF it wears out), I'll def be buying another.

Other tips...

**Rent a locker at the water parks.
**Always take a poncho...ALWAYS!
**I'm not a fan of credit cards, but the Disney VISA gives great great rewards. Plus you can get one-on-one time at EPCOT with major characters and a FREE 5X7 picture.
**Take drink powder packets to add to the free ice water that you can get in the parks.
**I know this isn't a tip, but the Peter Pan Family Magic Tour was AWESOME, especially for young children.
**Take a nap in the afternoon if at all possible.
**Take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours at night. Some of our most surprise MAGICAL moments have happened during these times.

I think the drink passport is more for keeping track of each country you drink in while still paying for each drink individually. The wine pass is one fee and you get however many wines that are included in the program.

Love the post about going out of your way to be nice to others and spread a little pixie dust. People often forget their manners and a little extra politeness when everyone is hot and tired goes a long way. Nothing wrong with putting out a little good karma either... On our last trip, we pulled fast passes for Soarin', but ended up just walking on and using baby swap. We passed them on to another family just as the window was opening up... A few hours later my husband and son went to ride Test Track and the cast member working fast pass gave them each a pass to walk right on. :goodvibes

I got rid of my Baggallini sling bag after a trip to Disney because the buckle kept sliding down and I couldn't keep it tight to my body. But the bag itself was great for storing everything without being bulky. I loved the way it just slid to the front if you needed something. Well, after searching for the perfect bag for my upcoming trip to Universal I ended up buying....guess what? Another Bagallini sling. I'm giving it another chance because it just works so darn well.

Just a word of caution about Universal. They don't allow you to bring bags on some of the rides (ex. The Hulk, The Mummy, The Forbidden Journey). You will have to put your Baggallini in a locker before you get in line.

When I go to Universal I wear a fanny pack. I know it's not a stylish fashion statement but it holds what I need and keeps me from having to get a locker.

BTW if you do take your Baggallini and have to put it in a locker make sure to keep some cash on you. The lockers are free for the first 30 minutes. If you leave your things in the locker longer than that you will have to pay to get them out.

Have fun!!!

Go to Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom as early as possible on your MK day. The pictures you get inside the park with no crowds that early in the morning are worth it!

Also, head to the back of the park and don't start doing the things in the front. Always good tips :wizard:

My favorite tip so far was for the Character Autographs. I read on someone's site to buy the matted frames for autographs and it holds a 5x7 or 4x6 (Depending what style you get) instead of the autograph books. Once you get the books they really serve no purpose and quickly forget about them. The picture frame w/ autographs around it is such a neat idea. I bought one for each of my kids.

LOL I am not a crafty person either but this is easy. I got my frames from Michael's Art and Craft store. You only bring the matted part that the characters will sign; leave the rest of the frame at home. I have 2 for both my kids, place them in a folder so they don't get bent; and stick them in your bag. We are doing Character Dining and some meet and greets the first couple of days, that way it'll get filled quickly and we won't have to carry it around all the days we're at the park. Also, bring different colored sharpie pens for the different signatures so it looks nice. Bring the thicker sharpie pens for the characters that have the big paws to sign; a reg. sharpie will work for the princesses and basically any that don't have a costume covering their hands. Make sure you point to where you want the character to sign, for me I want Mickie Mouse to sign the top center part..and for the part on the side of the frame where it could get cut off by frame, make sure you turn it sideways and have them sign it like that. You can even draw a thin penciled (lightly) line to show the cutoff where the frame will cover that section.

I don't know if that was mentioned but...

For those who like to journal what they have eaten/purchased and keep receipts. Bring long letter envelopes with you. Use one for each day. You can keep the receipts inside the envelopes. And, write your memories on the outside of the envelope. Thought might be a little cheaper than buying a journal and you will have somewhere to put your receipts (instead of your wallet or bag pocket). And, you will already be organized! So, when you get home, you can read what you have done/ate that particular day and have the receipts/stubs as mementos.

I wonder if I could somehow cram an umbrella stroller into our suitcase.. lol.

Wendy, Last Sept we went with our grandkids and used Magic Stroller Rentals in Orlando. They delivered to and picked up from our hotel which was great. It was with the Valet service when we arrived and when we were done we returned it there for pick up. We used a double stroller and it came in a carrying case and was clean and in excellent condition. Using the stroller gave us a place for packages (under seat) and using "D" rings we were able to hang hats, drinks, etc on the handlebars. Check them out, they are great.

I have two DDs that are 7 and 9, both of them very petite. I had not planned on renting a stroller this time at WDW. Someone suggested we should get a rental stroller if for nothing else to hold a back pack or other belongings while we do the rides....Comments please.

I could see my 7 year old tiring out midday.:faint:

I don't know if that was mentioned but...

For those who like to journal what they have eaten/purchased and keep receipts. Bring long letter envelopes with you. Use one for each day. You can keep the receipts inside the envelopes. And, write your memories on the outside of the envelope. Thought might be a little cheaper than buying a journal and you will have somewhere to put your receipts (instead of your wallet or bag pocket). And, you will already be organized! So, when you get home, you can read what you have done/ate that particular day and have the receipts/stubs as mementos.

Works like magic! Glad to learn someone else does this...

Thanks SpacedOut! For a while there I thought I was alone with my idea. Great cheap alternative to a notebook/journal. Nice to know I have company. :yay: It works great for me. As much as I would like to think that my memory is good, it never is. :worried: By the time I get home I would forget what it was called, the description, price, etc. Plus, if you just need to scribble something down it is very handy. Great way to keep track of your receipts too and add up how much it would have cost you OOP versus Dining Plan. I do end up transferring all the info into a scrapbook. But, it definitely keeps me organized. :goodvibes

We have done this at other parks (my kids are older). It is so nice to have a stroller with flip flops, dry clothes ect..

On our last trip DS was 7 and DD was 5. We took 2 umbrella strollers with us, and used them all the time. DS7 could hop in anytime and he was able to hang with us all day because he could rest whenever he needed to, but we didn't have to stop and wait. I highly recommend it. Plus, as you mentioned, it is really nice to be able to throw your bag under the stroller instead of carrying it around all day!

Oh, I forgot to mention - we flew and gate checked the strollers. Helped to have those strollers in the airport, too. :thumbsup2

Just had this done with my DD7 at MK on Tuesday. There is one located in that little "alley" off of main street about half way down on the right (if you are facing the castle). There is also a booth set up in Liberty Square as well as on in France in EPCOT. It costs $8.00, you can NOT charge it on your KTTW card - they operate separately from the rest of Disney. You get 2 cut-outs and can always refuse if you are not happy with it. I had this done when I was at Disney at her age (many moons ago!) and wanted to keep up the "tradition". I takes about 5 minutes - it is amazing to watch!

When I get home, I put all the information into an Excel spreadsheet so I can do subtotals, etc. This way, I have something to which I can refer in planning subsequent trips. I was surprised how much I actually spent during one day at Disney, but next time I'll know better...

These were on my list. But when we walked by the one in Liberty Sq no one was there and we forgot later. Really wished I had done this.

Fun thread! The things that helped me the most on my first trip were:

-don't wear new shoes
-change shoes whenever you can (it moves the sore spots around)
-get up early - you will often get more done in the first two hours than the rest of the day!
-buy several $1.00 ponchos at Walmart, then you don't feel bad throwing them away when they get that musty smell!
-if you're not in a big rush, use Disney transportation, especially on your first trip. As DL veterans, we thought we were prepared for the scope of WDW, but it was still a little intimidating and I'm glad we didn't have to navigate driving, parking, etc. in addition to everything else
-take advantage of the package delivery service if you're staying on site. Yes it probably caused me to spend more, but it was so much easier than hauling stuff around!
-talk to the cast members and take pictures with them - they appreciate a friendly guest as much as you appreciate a friendly cast member!

Never leave your hotel room without a bunch of Disney Pins, don't forget to put on your sunblock, go to the back of the parks first and shop after the parks are closed, and view the 2nd parade :goodvibes.

The past couple of trips I have brought an inflatable foot tub - it takes up hardly any room in luggage. I soak my feet every night after a full park day - I also put water in it before I go to bed - the next morning from the AC in the room it is very cold and soothes swollen/tired feet :goodvibes

My top 5 tips i have learned over the years:

- Watch your time - my sister and I got stuck in the back of the castle for MVMCP fireworks because we were in Mickey's Philarmagic  - our biggest mistake to date!
- ADR's
- Moleskin - a feet saver for me
- Have a park plan -even if it is a loose one
- Fastpass

You can get it in most drug stores - CVS - Target - local supermarkets. I believe Dr. Scholl's is the original - there are many generic equivalents.
I put them on my hot spots and have never had a blister problem - well i did have a blister problem that put a damper on one Disney vacation - never again thanks to this stuff. ;)

Joann, how do you apply it? Sticky side on the skin or on the shoe where your foot rubs? I keep hearing about moleskin and even picked up a package but I have no idea how to use it!

Funny thing reading the responses to this - I have always applied the sticky side to my skin/hot spots on the balls of my feet, etc - have I been doing it wrong? :confused3

After doing some internet research seems you can use it either way - I prefer putting the sticky side on my skin but may try the "stick to the shoe method" just to test it out :goodvibes I am hoping it does not leave a sticky residue on my shoes. I would think your skin would still rub if you stick it to your shoe - with the sticky side on my skin there is no way for my foot to sweat in that protected area or rub on anything.
Use scissors to cut the moleskin to a shape slightly larger than the affected or prone to blister area. Peel off the paper side and press it on good - the adhesive is pretty strong.
If I am going to a park all day I bring some extra in my bag and change them if i need to.

moleskin :thumbsup2

I wrapped my "problem" toes in moleskin to prevent blisters. Just be sure to try this out before your Disney trip to make sure it's comfortable for you to walk in. The thinner moleskin works better for this than the thick moleskin. Also first aid tape is helpful to keep the moleskin from falling off.

My other tip is to buy high quality thick, padded socks (they're expensive but so much more comfortable than cheap socks.) Coolmax and Smartwool are some choices that provide wicking. Don't use cotton socks and make sure your socks fit correctly (not too big.) I like Thorlos socks too.

Only the ones that have the machines for credit cards can handle the gift cards. If they don't have the machine they are strictly cash.

I've always thought it was personal choice too. I prefer it on my skin....that way no matter how the shoe shifts the blister area is protected. Plus the one time that I put it on the shoe getting it all off with sticky mess left on the shoe was time consuming. It comes off my skin easily and on the occasion that some of the stick remains it's easy to remove in the shower.

For those that don't want to carry scissors, a small nail clipper works too, though a little slower to cut the shape you need, but easier and safer to carry in a pocket.

If a blister has already formed...be sure the moleskin is larger than the blister because the sticky stuff is strong enough that removing it from damaged skin can cause a little more damage, like pulling off a scab.

I wear thicker socks, wool, when I know I'm going to be walking a lot. They don't come in all the pretty colors, but I wear long pants so black is fine, lol.....and that padding really helps prevent sore spots. My daughter who must be color coordinated at all times, simply wears a second pair of socks under her stylish ones. This drives me nuts as the inside pair slips down for me...she doesn't have that problem  Try out whatever you plan to use for a day or two around home so that any problems can be resolved before you arrive.

In the summer I use foot powder....dump some on my foot and into the socks before I put them on.....doesn't work for all day sweating, but keeps them nice for several hours!

This thread is amazing! My DH and I are going on our honeymoon in October, and I have already started a "disney box" for stuff from this thread (moleskin, disney bandaids, etc.) I am also planning on bringing an inflatable foot soak tub, as I always have problems with my feet.

My biggest tips to Disney newbies is to have a plan (duh), but also not to underestimate the Florida sun and heat! I am constantly amazed at people who think that just because it isn't the middle of the summer they don't have to wear sunscreen. And water. Lots and lots of water. (Which is why the disney box will eventually include filtered water bottles!)

So true. The time we went in October, my friend texted me that it was mid 50's here in TN and it was mid 80's in FL. HOT and HUMID!

Leave DH in your resort room while you shop :lmao:

We went last September the best tip I got from a friend that lives in Florida and is has been visiting WDW for many years was to always pack blister packs and wear two pairs of socks. I never would have thought to do that but it was a life saver, especially for my DD. She also recommended the ponchos...

My own tip is to just enjoy it. I'm not a planner. I like to just go with the flow. It works for us.

I had the same problem so I bought some cute diaper pins and "locked" the buckle in place to keep it from sliding any further. Worked like a charm.

Best tip I had wasn't for Disney, it was for Islands of Adventure. My mom's friend told us to hold off on WWOHP until 6pm. We didn't have to wait in any lines to go into the section of the park, and it freed up our whole morning to get on Spiderman, Hulk, Dudley-Do-Right, and Popeye with minimal waits.
