I have noticed that post on a whole on the rewards board have decreased and I am wondering why this has happened?


I hope it is because we have less rewards programs to talk about and not less interest in the board.Or fear of reprisals.Maybe it is vacations and summer activities.


This board is my home and each of you a friend.

I am really missing the interaction we used to have here.

Let me know how you feel about this.PLEASE POST.

I don't post as much as I would like. I have to use my work computer (no internet at home) and we've had some big staff cuts lately and those of us that are left are all picking up extra duties, so there's little time for other things.

Even though I don't post as often as I'd like, I do check this board every work day. I value all the friendships I have forged here & appreciate so much all the AWESOME help I've gotten. This is my favorite of all the boards on the DIS.

Hopefully, things here will settle down to a "dull roar" eventually & I'll have a little more DIS time. Until then, know I'll be lurking everyday & posting when I can!

I think that it is a combination of factors,
A lot of people are on vacation now,
Many of the rewards programs we all did together have gone or are no longer worth doing...
And also think that the summer has driven people out of the house and wew all have less time to post.


I think that things will pick up again once the school season starts again and everyone comes back from vacation. ( Although that is when i am leaving for vacation!!! hehehe)

We have NOT abandoned you Mal, we are all still here albeit it a little less :)

*shamefully shuffling feet*........ ;) I have noticed a decrease in posts and I know that I am part of the reason. I do check in everyday, but just haven't been posting. I suppose it's due to a bunch of reasons. Summer is always busy for me so I've had to really cut down on my computer time. I've had rotten luck with a couple rewards programs as of late.....although I think these problems will be resolved shortly. Expect a BIG, HAPPY post from me in the next week or so regarding Milesource! :D But I think overall my lack of posting is largely due to laziness. I call it the "summertime curse"! I really do think of you all as my friends though so I think I owe y'all more than a post once every two weeks!! Thanks Mal for giving me the little kick I sooo needed! I'll be back! ;)

Mal, it's as if you can read my mind (twillight zone music here).

I was thinking the same thing, but chalked it up to the end of the summer-vacations-getting the kids ready for school-in addition to the lack of programs recently. I was just thinking about all the good friends I've made on this board and how we all help each other out and always have an "atta boy" or a "congrats" for all of our achievements.

Hey, Mal-what do you think of starting the "getting to know you" thread again-you know, the one we lost when they changed over to the new board. I loved reading everybodys story. I think you started the thread, so if you think it's a good idea, let's try it again.
Might be just what we all need.

Hi guys, I haven't been posting much either. My nephew has been staying with us for a few weeks so life has been so hectic. In fact I haven't even had time to do my programs this last week *gasp*. He goes home tomorrow so after the weekend I will be back in the think of things.

I agree...lack of rewards and vacations...I love this board and l like how everyone tries to help one another...you guys are the sweetest people I have "met" online...I would love to have a few "hey, how are you doing" posts...but is that considered "off topic"? Anyway, thanks for all you do...everyone...you all make this board very important!! :)

I've been reading the posts almost everyday but don't post often. I sometimes feel like an outsider. Most of you that post know each other (I assume it's from posting for a long time). I'm new to the reward programs (about three months now) and don't have much to add as I am still learning, but I do appreciate all the input you guys give me. Hi Mal-I think it's due to the drastic drop in the rewards programs from a year ago when they were all going strong.... They really have dwindled to almost nothing. I used to come to this board many times a day for your (and others) infinite wisdom. Sigh... I hope you can forgive me for not visiting as often... Now, we are going back to WDW in April, so I really need to build up my WC supply....... so I guess I'll be visiting here a lot more often!

Hi folks,

I know we haven't been posting as much because:

1. Vacation stuff we do keeps us from posting, tough to take the pc on the log flume
2. Monitor keeps melting as the heat index hits 150
3. I electricuted my DW when I took the pc into the pool
4. When I get dehydrated my typing skills go south and instead of coming to the DIS I end up at some ex-punk rockers web site (Sid Vicious)
5. General Laziness

I was going to post 10 reasons but I need to get back into the pool!!!

Mal, I wish I had your patience to run all the rewards, but most of them
have evolved into purchase for points, it seems like the freebie aspect is
gone. I dont want o spend $2250.00 to get a gift certificate....

After I complete the 5500 points at milesource , I'm may not visit everyday

Okay, I admit to being guilty of lurking, not posting!:) Since the rewards have slowed so much, I have been pretty lazy about doing the programs, so many seem to be taking to long.:( to earn anything. Add to that the heat and being pregnant (what a great excuse for not doing stuff:) !) and my computer time is definately much shorter than it used to be. Quite often lately I've opted for a nap over rewarding.
I'm really hoping that the programs pick back up soon, it's easier to be motivated to do them when you're making good money, rather than knowing it'll be months before you can cash out.
So, I'll still be here on the rewards board, at least for as long as I can reach the keyboard!:)

I used to visit, read and post a bit on this board, too. Freeride and Beenz were great programs in their day, but now things seem to have hit an all-time low.

I was thinking of trying to ease back into some of the programs, but not sure where to re-start...any suggestions?

I think the activity of this board is less due to both summer vacations and less reward programs. I've been part of these boards for a year now.... Looking back had lots of good times reading the posts and looking for the great information posted. I too enjoy reading the boards. Just to see what everyone is doing. I feel all you you are "special friends" Friends we may not meet in person but are close just the same.

I admit since my last Disney trip 5/2001 I have cut down on earning Disney rewards.
Needless to say it's been harder to earn points lately.

I hope after the summer activity will pick up.

I agree with Dave about the PC not working very well while riding a log flume! Doesn't work well on roller coasters, either! ;) ;) I was posting more while I was working, but lately I've been enjoying the great outdoors for the first summer in many years! Guilty guilty of lurking- altho' I still ask a lot of questions! Summertime ahhhh it is more difficult to get to the computer, and I have to share precious baby napping time with my 2 older children. I miss all the posts on this board. I always looked forward to coming over and seeing who was posting and what programs were paying what. I really miss the programs that were doing well. Now, it takes sooooo long to get any points and they are so hit and miss.

Hopefully, some programs will pick up and come fall we will all be posting like crazy.

Until then, we will all be lurking thinking hte same thing, where is everybody?

After I found out that the Rewards Programs were jamming my computer or worse spying I losed interest in them. Plus Freeride was the only one that ever paid and after it crashed well,It just took to long to even get a reward and just when I would get close they would UP the amount of points. So, what was the use I was losing the game anyway you looked at it. Even test drives have dried up!!

And Dh was not happy with the amount of time I spent at the Computer. So, I check in once and a while to see if there is a test drive or a new "freeride".

I still check in everyday but I'm trying to get more rewards done faster so I dont usually post anything. Hopefully I'll bite the bullet this year and get a part-time job while the kids are in school.

I just got back from vacation and was coming here to see what went on while I was gone. It is nice to see that we are all still surviving the summer and trying to do the best we can with the rewards programs that are left. Hopefully, the fall will bring us all some cool weather, big rewards, and a little more time on the computer.

you must of been reading my mind mal, I was getting a little nervous. I guess it is true, vacation and the rewards are lousy. Lets hope that things start looking up soon. I am trying to get some more webcertificates and restaurant gc for my next trip to the world, august of 2002. I am in the planning mode and every little bit helps!!

I think it is just the natural course of things...summer time is so busy for so many people. I don't normally have the time to read everything on all the boards that I like to, but at least try to post something every day or other day over here. Plus I am planning out upcoming trip in Sept & find myself on the other planniing boards alot more-LOL!


As far as Milesource, I'm glad its not just me! I clean everything out of my system all the time now, and have used about 4 different programs to get rid of everything--Milesource is the only one that takes forever + causes IE to crash all the time. No other program does this & since others are hacing the same difficulties I find it hard to believe it is only my system. Hope they fix things since they are one of my favs!

I also think that the rewards programs have gone down, when I first started with
mypoints, there was always things to do to earn points, now all they want you to do
is shop, plus I notice alot of the programs have the same offers, I already belong to most
of the stuff that they offer to sign up for, so when a new program comes along I rarely
take part because most of the time I am already a member of something they offer to get
points. My points was so good, that in less than a year I earned about 30,000 points,
I started spending them because when I noticed that the offers were getting slim (and even
email points when down to 5 points when it used to be 10) I decided better cash out just in
case this is another one ready to go belly up.

I agree that the quality of rewards programs has really dropped. With Freeride gone, Mypoints rapidly declining, and others going downhill as well, there isn't as much to talk about. Right now, I only do Milesource regularly, and occasionally Mypoints (I just use their Mypoints Mastercard to earn points) and Netflip (it's taken me six months to earn $17 - this one I do very occasionally!). With the decline of rewards programs, I haven't been frequenting this board as much. Here's to hoping for the return of the rewards programs!
