Called to pay on my resort bill last night and mentioned to the CM that I am watching for the AP rates but they probably won't be out for a while. (Beg of May.) She said, you never know and to just keep watching. Probably doesn't mean anything but who knows.

I sure hope the rates are as good as last years! We have booked two rooms this year. Fingers and toes crossed!

It was last year, but I wouldn't count too much on those deep discounts right now if the last rates released are any indication of what's going to happen. Last year in May and June the AP rate for a moderate was $74, this year it's $109...

They have cut down the discount percentage on APs and FL Residents. I would think that General codes would be smaller then last year also based on this.

I agree, they have also cut down the discount for CMs too. We use to get a straight 50%, now we get 50% and 40%. When the 50% rooms are gone, we only have the 40% rooms available. It would only seem right if they cut our discount percentage, that it would be fair to do it for ALL. BTW, once those discounted rooms are gone, we have a 25% option. By then, I would choose to pull out my AP option for a better savings. I think the smaller discounts on rooms to all is a result of higher attendance numbers--or at least a projection of higher numbers. All I know is that when we were there in Oct, Dec, and Jan, we noticed the increase of attendance, especially December. Never did we expect to see a park reach capacity in early December (the 10th at MGM). But, call me crazy, we'll be there for 2 weeks in May to help kick off the 5/5/5 celebration. woohoo!

Now that CMs can make our discounted ressie online, I expect to see this option for passholders next. That will be great. Just log in with your passholder ID and make your discounted ressie. I thought I would never see the day that they would make this available to CMs, but that time is now, so passholders have to be next!! that will be great a perk, unless you have a voucher and not an active pass.

Practice Patience. They are coming out later and later. I got my code for late April two weeks ago. (around 3/10 or so) That was about 1 month out.
So be patient... it will come. And if they say they are taken on day one - keep calling - they open up. That is what happened to me.

i called at 9:15 on day one of code and they said they were gone for the hotel of my choice. Then the next day - I got it. Same hotel etc.

Go figure!

The AP rates for late April - July 4th came out on March 9th this year and last year; in 2003, they came out a week before the first check-in date. So they really aren't coming out any later than in the last few years.

I hope you are right, n2mm. That would be very helpful for AP holders. We have access to a CM discount and I was very surprised to find it at 25% for our requested resort. We decided to go the AP rate, since it is better. I would have REALLY liked that 40 or 50% though!

Hi Trissy,

We have visited in August for the last six years. Late August is much better as far as the crowd level. You can't believe the difference! If you can visit the last week of August, I highly reccomend to do so.

Though in August, it is hot, humid and it does rain, pretty much every single day. Usually in the late afternoon you can expect a down pour. The rain does not last long, usually no more than a half hour or so. Very different than here in NY where if it is rainy, it is usually lousy the entire day.

:sunny: I love WDW in August. :sunny:

We went mid August last year for 3 days. It rained for about an hour or so 2 out of the 3 nights. Each time around the dinner hour so we lucked out and were at dinner each time. The rain started winding down around the time of the fireworks shows. The mornings were warm but comfortable, the afternoons very humid and the nights cooled down and were comfortable. The crowds weren't bad in the mornings, very very crowded at MK in the afternoon and evening. MGM and Epcot weren't bad to walk around but the Fantasmic show was filled to capacity and many many people were'nt able to see it including us. It was very disappointing. We even bought the dinner show pkg but were a couple of minutes late for the special seating section.
I would go again in August but take more time to see everything and take a break in the afternoon back at the pool or somewhere air conditioned and then head back to the parks at night. ::MinnieMo

I'm waiting for Aug. too. I only need one night before we check into SSR. Don't really want to borrow the points for the Sat. night stay, so I was hoping for a code. I called CRO this morning to see what the cheapest rate I could get for two rooms at either the All Stars or POR and they quoted $99 per room per night at *** and $149 at POR. I think I'll wait and see if something better comes out. Heck, I paid $79 at POR last June (with a code)!

Talked my husband into going back (okay I pouted) after a years absence. I invited his whole family so he didn't have much of a choice. The thing is, I have never had an AP and I don't know if it is worth it now with the MMYW tickets. We have always used general codes in the past, doesn't look promising for late July. I'm driving myself nuts trying to decide if I should wait for a post card or get an AP. If I make a ressie do I have to already have a voucher in hand for an AP? We will be there for 10 nights. Of course if I get an AP we would have to go back........hum :rolleyes1

Just wondering if everyone thinks there will be general public discounts for August since there were no discounts for May and June. I had planned to go in June but am considering going in August if there are discounts released for that time. I just lost my job so we might time our trip with any discounts released, I just keep wondering whether to get my hopes up.

I'm watching too for August 10 - 17. Did anyone get the AP code for AKL for last August? What was the rate?

Thanks

Tracy

A standard room at WL (AKL is the same) was $114/ night.
But I'm not so sure we can expect that this year because of how much higher May/June's AP rates are this year (as compared to the same time frame last year)

If the AP rates are similar to May/June's, I wouldn't expect general codes. If the AP rates for July/August are lower, then maybe :) ...

It occurs to me that if the AP rates start to be less of a discount, joining AAA may start to seem like a better alternative. AAA rates are not so low, but they are available early and therefore more of a "guaranteed" thing than these discounts coming straight from Mickey. I am also waiting for post-July 4th codes and would feel much better if I had an AAA rate already booked, "just in case." :)

Just my 2 cents! :sunny:

Colleen,

Book the AAA rate and purchase the service. It really is completely worthwhile. Last summer we broke down in our new 2004 Blazer on a highway in the Adirondack mountains. AAA was a life saver. :)
We have not used it for Disney discounts, since AP discounts are always available. But I always book the AAA rate, and modify when
AP rates become available. :sunny:

Mich Mouse, thanks for the info. I am thinking about it seriously as we travel to Florida twice a year now... I called WDW yesterday and the woman said I could book the AAA rate and just show my ID card at check-in (so I could join after I book the rate). There were a lot of AAA rate rooms for our travel dates so I am "playing chicken" right now with the AP rates and hoping I won't need to get the AAA rate!

The code can only be "applied" if there is a room available for the AP discount. If there are no rooms available for the AP discount, the code cannot be applied.
The more rooms booked at rack rate, the less the number of rooms available for discounts (and also possibly the less the amount of discount - ie. May, June)

Hey everyone! It's getting closer to the time we all hope is "IT!" I am going to call each day beginning May 1st. Hopefully one of those days they'll be able to tell me "Tomorrow!" and then I'll set the clock and get up to call... We are looking to return the week of Aug 13 - 20 again this year. Just a quick memory jog, we had a great time that week last year, BUT we came in on the Saturday after Hurricane Charley had blown through Orlando on the previous night. A sad time for so many of the local folks. It felt kind of weird that we were having such a great time while so many nearby were suffering. Let's hope that this late summer/fall seasons that Mother Nature takes it a bit easier on the entire southeast. We are hoping to get AP rates at POFQ again.

i'm new to the forum and was wondering if someone can please explain to me what PIN codes are and how you get them. i often hear of people receiving room rate discounts but don't know how they get them. thanks for any info.

colleen costello
04-23-2005, 06:14 PM
The PIN codes are numerical or letter codes that are unique to one family. Normally these are sent (as solicitations) through the mail on a postcard or sometimes to your Email address. What happens sometimes is that the cards get lost, or the Email gets swallowed by your computer's junkmail filter, so some people call the reservations line and ask the CM to check if they have a code "attached to" their name. Evidently there will be a note the CM can see on their computer with your info, if Mickey TRIED to send you a solicitation. These codes are good for certain prices and certain dates, usually the time frame that is appreoaching in a few months. Some folks have had luck asking about these codes, and others get cranky CM's who feel they are too busy (or perhaps too clueless) to search.

The wisdom here seems to be "It never hurts to ask!"

Need a sanity check....please????

I am a DVC member and saving my points for a family blowout in May '06.
That said......

Am planning a solo trip in September for 4 nights (Fri-Tues).
I bought my 1st AP (with my DVC discount). :goodvibes

I have also been waiting for the codes to come out, assuming maybe I could stay @ the Poly, GF,CR..etc,...but...

I checked the rent/trade boards here on the DIS... :disrocks:
I can get a "studio" (frig, sink, coffee pot,microwave,lr,table/chair,balcony)...say @ the BWV or BCV for $10. per point, need 68 points ($680)..which is $170. nightly!!

That's $170. nightly (no 11.5% resort tax or hidden hotel charges)!!! :rotfl:
I don't find that extravagant for the accomodations provided.
I did check the "rack rate" for all the Deluxe and DVC resorts and they are certainly pricey!!

So...How "GOOD" are the AP codes..if/when they come out??

So why am I waiting for these codes???

Am I missing something???

Right now the only discounts available until July 4th are Annual Passholder, Fl residents, and AAA. There weren't any GP (general public) discounts released for this time period, and there may not be any GP codes for July / August either. tinkerbeth based on last summer's AP discount ($85 off per night at Deluxe resorts) your nightly rate would drop from $225 to$140. With tax, your total would be $1248.80 rather than $2007 - so you'd save over $750. Hopefully Passholder rates will come out and you will be able to have the rate applied to your entire stay. Good Luck! Either way, AKL is awesome!

Is anybody else getting worried that since they haven't done any post-July 4 pin code emails, their might be NO discount for July/August dates? I got my pin code email for the dates up to July 4th back in January, months before AP codes, etc were released. If they are gonna release AP codes next week wouldn't someone have gotten some sort of pin code by now. I'm sure there is equally good chance they could just do no pin codes for these dates and still release Ap codes, etc... but I have to admit they do have me wondering.

SO: since we have nothing better to do while waiting, why don't we share our "strategies" for scoring an AP rate? I'll go first... (and you can tell me if this is a bad plan). I am going to start calling every morning when they first open and every evening right before they close. This way I will either call when the codes are finally "there" OR perhaps I will get the "heads up" on codes that come out the next morning... I have thought of dialing on BOTH our cell phones on that fateful day and hoping one line gets through more quickly, but started to realize that if I took this any further I was probably getting into the "lunatic" zone so I decided call on one phone only...

I do think it will be soon. Last year it was on May 5th. Since that is the official start of HCE I wonder if they will come out a few days earlier?? Or maybe later.... :sad2: ????

At any rate--some good news. I just did a "test" on the Disney site for the first two weeks of July, beginning July5. I had my choice of all resorts. So there is def. availabilty. Makes me feel better!! :cool1:

Dalpal-- Where did you get your timer? Much better than mine.

Hold on everybody--it won't be too much longer!!

Hiya! Newbie here. Count me in for the July/August code watch. DH and I are taking the girls to WDW mid July and we're so excited. I've been there before but no one else has. We live in CA and are seasoned DL veterans. ;) I think my 6 year old is going to lose her little mind! :p

Oh, I fished around and found this link for making the smaller counter:

I'm not sure if you realise it, but you came off as VERY condescending. Specificaly the line:

"I know they have befor...so we all know how much he knows....."

You do realise the CM's you speak with only go with the history they know. They do not have the ability to check when the rates were released in previous years. Please keep in mind that you are dealing with individuals and their experience with the company, so it is possible that in his experience they have not released the AP/FLA rates on a Sunday.

Waiting patiently too. How necessary is it to ring up early on the day that codes come out?

It's just that 7am over there is 12noon here and I shall be at work. Don't think they would be too keen on me making an International call from work. If I get the chance this week, I may try to get home for lunch - can just about make it in a hour-if I'm not waiting too long on the line. If I find anything out I'll post immediately.

Extremely necessary. Codes sell out fast. If you can't call at work can you call on your lunch break? Or take a coffee break and try to call? Perhaps on a public phone with a calling card or cell phone?

HI all,
Should I worry about making the call or will DU automatically try and get the code rate? Would hurt if I set up 2 ressies because I'm not sure that my DU ressie shows up in CRO, or does it? Also, what time do you start looking at 7:00, or just log onthe site in the AM or just call CRO? I don't have an AP (yet), so I'm just hoping for general codes.
Thanks :wizard: :wizard: Pixie dust for everyone :wizard: :wizard:

Ok you've got me, I don't know what a DU is. *chuckles.

Please do not make a double booking as the computer will weed them out and you will possibly lose one or both of your reservations.

I can tell you that CRO does not automatically update, you would have to call them to add any prospective codes out there. And as far as I know, nothing has been released. I spoke with my friend at DRC this morining.

Why can't I have two reservations without being in danger of having them "weeded out"? I thought AP holders could book three rooms at once. They need not even be in the same resort, from my understanding. I was planning to book another room, at the WL for my parents, while we are staying at the Poly. Why would I have a problem with that? You can book up to three rooms at once with a code. I think the poster may have meant don't have rooms at different resorts at the same time, trying to wait for the best deal.

If you are trying to make reservations for other members of your party, you can certainly do that. You just need to make sure that all of your rooms are under the same reservation. Make sure you let CRO know that you want all the rooms linked.

If you are making reservations at different resorts for the same time period, just b/c you are not sure where you are going to stay (different ressie number) then Disney may very well cancel your reservations at random. I once tried to make two different reservations for the same nights b/c I wanted to wait until my DH came home to decide where he wanted to stay, but the CM at CRO wouldn't let me. She said you are not allowed to hold separate reservations for the same dates and that the computer would cancel one of them randomly.

Hope that helps.

Just got a AAA rate for POP for the first week in Aug. The same rate we paid for POFQ last July but I can't complain. Thinking about adding the dining plan but I heard that cancels out your AAA room rate? Guess it doesn't hurt to try. I think I'll wait to get the final word on codes before we decide.

MHS
05-03-2005, 09:38 AM
Yup - you can only do the Meal Plan with the Rack Rate or Magic Your Plan, not the AAA rate.

MHS
05-03-2005, 09:40 AM
Oops, I meant to type "Magic Your Way" - I'm in the same boat (AAA reservation) - weighing all the costs of AAA discount (room only at this point), AP discount (waiting to come out) or the hope of a pincode (yeah, right, don't have that kind of luck). No matter what, I doubt we will end up with the meal plan.

Question about discounts.

AP discounts are for people with Annual Passes only. They do offer Florida resident rates and sometimes for Georgia (valid proof of residency required). There are also "general public" codes that may follow after AP and FL rates have been out for a while. Don't forget your AAA card. HTH

Luv2go2WDW
05-03-2005, 01:59 PM
I believe you can get the AAA room rate and the dining package if you use AAA to book the package. No one else (CRO or TAs) can book the AAA room rate with dining.

Contact your local AAA office for a quote. I looked into it, but I'm hoping for an AP rate which will save me more than AAA room rate w/dining.

Good luck!

Just an FYI for anyone who doesn't know, The AP rates are the same as the Florida resident rates ( per WDW). So if your a Florida resident no reason to buy the AP just for the discounts.

We're also staying at WL for a further 7 nights - couldn't get standard - upgraded to woods view no problem - $1210 for 7 nights incl tax (quoted me $155 per night - but this must be without tax-have to work it out).
