View Full Version : Is it worth it to upgrade my AP to a PAP with the DVC discount?

We bought our APs in Oct and we're heading back to WDW next week. This time we do plan on going to either Typhoon Lagoon or DisneyQuest. Does anyone know if I should plan on upgrading to a PAP using the DVC discount? I remember reading posts where members were upgrading for practically no cost at all. Is that true?

I also got my AP last October. I upgraded it a couple of weeks ago on my trip and got $5 back. Just go to a guest services window at any park and they'll take care of it.

We also activated our APs in October 2004. My DH was in WDW in January and was able to upgrade to a PAP with the DVC discount. He received the upgrade and $5.00 back. He upgraded at the Guest Services area in the Pleasure Island/Downtown Disney area. The rest of our family plan on upgrading during our August trip. :sunny:

Can this be done reguardless of activation date as long as the regular AP pass is still active?

Yup. They will back-date the PAP to the original purchase of the AP. But you should get full $$$ credit for the purchase price of the AP, which is then applied to the DVC discounted PAP. The net result, as reported by most, is a refund of roughly $5 per adult pass. And, yes, apparently they do actually give you the refund!!!

This is great!! Next trip will be the last week of our current AP activation. We are going during the busy spring break time, so the more activity options the better!! We will upgrade and get the last seven days of our AP as a PAP. The kids have been bugging me about going to BB or TL. They will be thrilled to try a water park, it will add some extra variety to our vacation. This is our 4th trip on this AP. Thanks all...I'm sure this has been posted before, but It never dawned on me till today that we could take advantage of this.
