You mean it's not 75 and sunny in Norwich, Gary? :rotfl:
With days like today, I'm so glad we have this trip scheduled. It gives us something to look forward to. :cold: (And this is coming from a skier. I've had enough. :sad2: )

Well, its not 75, but it is sunny, way too sunny with the fresh snow.We get mostly your weather except we are in the "southern hills" sounds nice doesn't it, lol. Our rig was a 1990 26' Citation we pulled with an 89 then 95 dodge diesal pickup. We sold it because we were only using it for one dog show a year, so now we motel it.

I'm with you two! I'm sick of the snow as well.
23 days and we'll be driving our new 2005 Winnebago Sightseer MH to Disney.
Barb, how did you get your picture in your signature?
thanks,

I download my pics on imagestation.com and then copy the properties from the pic I want (right click on pic to get properties). Then when I'm done posting on the thread, I click on the little image of the photo above and a box pops up. I then copy the properties into that box.
I think it sounds more difficult than it really is. LOL. Anyone better at explaining these things?

This is our 2002 Leisure Travel Van 4M Class B Motorhome http://publish.hometown.aol.com/rocklandrvers/images/rvforpasspwrter.jpg
Our RV has made 4 trips to Fort Wilderness (May 2003, December 2003, July 2004, December 2004)
Our next trip is April 23 - April 28 2005. It will be the first trip for my nephew who is about the same age as our son. He has gone camping with us a couple of times on weekends. This will be the first big vacation he is joining us on. :grouphug:
Before you ask, let me say that our RV sleeps 4 (5 counting our Jack Russell Terrier) very comfortably. It also has a full kitchen (coffee maker, stove, microwave, refrigerator, sink) bathroom (toilet, sink and shower), TV, VCR, DVD, Stereo, Air Conditioning. It is totally self contained with a generator and storage for water, sewer and propane. All this and it fits into a standard shopping center parking spot. :cool1:
Oh and before I forget, we have our own GEM Electric car that we tow in a trailer behind the RV so we don't have to rent a golf cart to get around Fort Wilderness or other camprounds. (see below) :thewave:

Oh yeah! I know exactly what you mean. Our little dude is about 8 years old. Since we first got him he thought he was king of all dogs. I will never forget once when he was really sick and we took him to the vet. Well when we got there a great dane was in the waiting room and our JRT wanted to pick a fight with it. The dane just looked at him and didn't bark or anything as if it was shrugging off the little twerp! No matter what we have done to stop this behavior, he still gets aggressive with other dogs. Humans can come up to him and he welcomes their attention. Maybe he thinks he is a person too. :confused3

Our, Pearl, is 4 years old. She is queen of the house. We had an old black lab when we brought her home, and she still decided she would be queen. After he died, we got a yellow lab. He is just about 15 months. He thinks she is his mother, and he tries to do everything she does - like jumping up in the air with all four feet. It can be quite hysterical. She certainly is a ton of fun.

Hi. We are camping for the 2nd time at FW. We were there last June. We will be there this year July 16-23. Can't wait. We love the campground. We have a 25 ft. travel trailer. It will me, my DH, and our two DD's ages 8 & 10 and our dog (Doberman mix) who is the biggest baby I've ever seen and we are bringing my Mom with us and this is her first time at DW. We are all looking forward to it.

Did someone mention spoiled brats? :rolleyes2 ;) We have a rear slide that is a full sized bed. My husband has to sleep on the fold down coach because of these two. :teeth: (Thankfully Oma and Opa have volunteered to live with Beanie the Meanie and Otto while we are at WDW.)

Hi all,
I'd like to show you our rig, however, I'm at work, shhhh, don't tell the boss I'm on this forum.....we'll be there Dec 18-23, 3005.
Our rig is a 2004 Cardinal travel trailer (bunkhouse layout - 31').
This will be our second trip to Disney with it. Sure is hard to get into those sites on the inner part of the loop with this thing....last year hubby scrapped one of the site markers (took home his own souviner, hee, hee) trying to back into one of those sites. Finally got an outside loop site, much easier. (Loop 1400 if anyone was wondering).
Hope to see ya'll there! :earsboy:

................we will have a 1st trip to Disney's Wilderness Campground but there defiinitely will be some trips. We just purhased a Trail Manor (TM) RV and we are going to use it to lengthen our stays at WDW. We are DVC members but don't like to use all of the points at one time so we bought the TM sp that after we spend a week at BCV when can then spen the next week or so at the campground.
Do you think we like WDW?

We will also be there 2 weeks from today for 8 nights. However, we too bought a travel trailer to lengthen our stays so come June 11, we will be there until July 31. I told the kids no, but they twisted my arm  . How's that for liking WDW? I would love to show you a picture of ours, a 2004 Keystone Cougar bunkhouse, but I don't take enough pictures of the kids, much less the camper! :rotfl2:

well, I feel out of the loop.. My rig is older. We have a 25 ft. 1995 Mallard travel trailer bunk house.
We had a fire at our house on Jan 24, 2004 and lost our 24 foot boat with cabin, our wilderness travel trailer and our whole garage with everything in it. My husband build our whole house himself so he has alot of tools, (he is an electrician.)
After the fire, we had no idea how much money we were getting back from the ins. co and wanted to get something cheap until we get a truck to get a 5th wheel. Talk about a deal!! It is 10 years old and is in excellent condition. Wonder if I will be one of the smaller or older campers there?? :sad2:
doesn't matter to me.. as long as I am with my family.. I love camping and being at wdw will be the best!!

We've got an Outback 21RS, it has a rear slide. This will be our 2nd trip to the Fort. We love our camper and it's our 4th trip out camping with it (we're new). We'll be camping March 24-April 3. If you're on I95 heading to DW, on the 24th going south or going north on the 3rd, we'll be the ones slowing down traffic since we're new to towing.

schrei,
We are leaving on the 25th and returning on the 2nd, which is a good thing. My husband will be pulling our travel trailer, but my mom will be driving her motorhome (she never, ever lets my dad drive) and she drives that thing like a bat out of he**! You would definately be one of the ones she fusses at (don't worry, she fusses at everyone) but I think you are wise to take it slow. I love camping at Ft. Wilderness. Enjoy your trip!

We are planning to upgrade my pick-up later this year to an F-250 Supercrew and order a 2006 Airstream 30' with a delivery date of September 1. After a couple of shake down weekends we plan to take the kids to Ft. Wilderness for MNSSHP in October.

One fold-out bed on one end and a bunkhouse on the other end. Our next trip to FW isn't until next Dec, but we're looking forward to a great summer of camping!

NO MORE GATE???!!!??? That thing seemed to always be on the fritz when were there. Can you describe this a bit more? Did they cut down that little mound you climb up when going in and out the gate or simply remove the gate?
How do they keep non-guests from going in? Even though the gate had its problems, I felt safer knowing that only guests could enter at night. Seems like anyone can come in now.

NHcampers,
I too would like to know the new procedure of getting back to our campsite with a car. When we were there in november we had to go thru the security check and then again thru the booth with our pass key. I'm hoping now all we have to do is go thru security check and then just proceed thru. Please let us know as we will be there in a couple of weeks. thanks.

RocklandRVers and rdrjj5
You enter by the manned guard shack then drive in to campground .All other Disney resorts have guards also. The gate wasn't to difficult to get by anyway you just follow a car or bus. If non guest can get by the guard shack they can drive down. The guard makes guest park on other side of parking lot so they can't drive down. The parking lot is still split and 1/2 is blocked. I think they did cut down the mound you used to drive over but don't remember the way it used to be. They did have a huge puddle after the old gate area when it rained. I personal feel the gate was a big problem for buses, they would get behind a back up of cars and have to wait to get through gate.
Here are 2 photos from construction. The first photo of backhoe and bobcat is where the gate use to be. The 2nd is the new bus stop

It won't be long until we see for ourselves and I know it may sound silly to you but are you saying that you now go to the guard as always then go through the drive in check in even if you are already a guest? :confused3
That does make sense to me if so. You just go through any open check in gate or do they have a special one to enter?
Thanks for all the heads up. :cheer2:

Rockland, the only thing that has changed is that the keycard gate has been removed. The pavement was dug up and the area is almost flat where the gate used to be. The process for entering is the same as before. You must pass through the guard shack area and then proceed to the right of the Outpost building and then turn left when you get up to the bus stop area.
The parking is still divided as before.

You can see our rig by using the URL in my signature below. I haven't updated the web site in a while (other than some of the woodworking projects). We were there last June with the camper for two weeks and it was terrific. Can't wait to go back, but SWMBO just changed jobs so no vacation this year. We will, however be taking lots of little weekend trips around the area.
If you want to skip the other stuff on the web site and get to the camper pix, use this: CLICKY!!!! (http://home.comcast.net/~jcjrsmith2/camper_pix.htm)

http://www.irishhillshog.org/dsc01171.jpg
2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 3500, 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel, Automatic Transmission, 2004 Carriage 36foot, three slider, Fifth wheel. Doing 60 to 65 mph we got as low as 10 mpg and as good as 12.8 mpg on one tank. This was our first long distance trip with the rig. ( The cargo trailer you see in the picture, we pull behind the fifth wheel when we take our Harleys with us. )
Have fun. ;)

Nice rig Bradisgoofy. Question, how do you back it all when you have the cargo tailer in tow? Or do you have to un-hook it and back it separately? Can't imagine pulling into a fuel station or fast-food joint with all of that.
bradisgoofy
05-17-2005, 03:24 PM
Thanks Minnie's Mate.
When I am pulling the train, ( that is what they call recerational doubles ) I must be very careful where I pull in, because you can't back up with both trailers hooked up. I can go into any restaurant that has RV parking because the cargo trailer will track exactly the same as the fifth wheel. So if I can make the turn with the fifth wheel, I can get in with the train. When camping, I always ask for a pull thru lot, although I have stayed at a couple of places where I had to drop the cargo trailer out in the parking lot, before I pulled into my camp site. FW is a good example, they only have two pull thru lots in the whole park. Also, I have a camera mounted on the back of the fifth wheel and an in dash monitor, to keep on eye on the cargo trailer.
Have Fun. ;)
