:rotfl: When we were there last year, it looked like they needed to release the Gyotaki fish. We knew they had seen better days when the CM's said to make sure and paint them in the direction of their gills. :rotfl:

Can't wait to take our first really warm weather trip to HH. In the past we have gone in Feb and Nov. I've been following the restaurant threads and am working on a list (definately Hudson's - love the atmosphere, Old Oyster Factory, will try Sea Shack, Santa Fe, Wild Wings). Picking up some things to take to the beach (towels, chairs, blankets). We will be very disappointed though if they don't have a new naturalist - remember Brian?

Only a little over a month to go!!!

I heard that they have hired a new naturalist -- someone who used to work for the Coastal Discovery Museum. Don't know if she's started yet or not, but they're very excited to have someone on board!

And as for Bryan -- I do keep in touch with him on occasion. He's almost done with grad school and just got engaged!!! He grew up not too far from where we live, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up with him some time this summer when he's back in town visiting his parents.

I think our trips overlap by one night. If you see us on Friday the 10th say hi! I'm sure I'll be at the campfire that night.(That's DH and the two kiddoes in my sig)
I am SO excited!
I have been so busy looking forward to my husband graduating college(FINALLY) today and planning his party for this coming Saturday that the trip has crept up on me all of a sudden.

2 1/2 more weeks, I can't believe it!

I have bought a few things(detergent, coloring books and snacks for the kids for the ride down) and put them aside, and also have unearthed the swimmies and goggles/masks for the kids and put them aside.
I need to start making a list. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

DIS board memebers often wear LIME GREEN ribbons to ID each other. I have a roll of wrapping ribbon that is lime green.... I tag my luggage (makes it oh so easy to find) and I have ribbons on my purses/backpacks.

I have run into a diser in line for Haunted Manision... it was cool.

We will be at HHI July 31-August 6. DW and myself in a 1BR. This will be our second trip to HHI, but the first time during the summer. We're both very excited about this trip. What's funny is it comes just two weeks after we will be out on vacation at Las Vegas, Arizona and the Grand Canyon. I've never taken two vacations so close together. I retire next year though and if I don't use up all my vacation this year, I will loose it.

BTW - if there is anyone out there that will be at HHI the same time we will be and would be interested in playing a round of golf, I'd love to hear from you. I'm not really good (basically a bogey+ golfer), but I do enjoy playing alot.

I can't find my copy of the Vacation Magic. We are going in less than a month too (also excited!). I would like to prebook these events. I looked at the DVC website and cannot find a way to do this. Would you please post the "how to book" information? Thanks. Sandie

Sandie,

Sorry, I should have included more info.

The VM says:
"Members visiting Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort now may pre-book Star Spangled Tuesdays and The Edmund's Family Low-Country Boil by calling the Resort at (843) 341-4150 prior to arrival."

Well, I guess that was't much more info, was it? :teeth:

Just happenned to find this post after seeing the thread on the DVC board that was so graciously started by Laurabearz, also..... about "your favorite things to do while at HH".

We will be making our 6th trip to HH. This will the 3rd time that we have brought my spouse's folks along. This time her brought and his wife are coming in from Houston for their first trip. It will be sixth trip for our 7 and 5 year old boys. Their 2 year old little brother is making his 2nd trip. We used to visit in May and occasionally before that darn school thing got in the way. This will be our first non-offseason visit.

We arrive this Sunday, June 5 checking out on Friday, June 10. Hope everyone has a great trip and that we all have decent weather.

HHI is 13 1/2 hours for us, including pit stops. Sometimes leave here at 2:00 a.m. on day of check-in and get to the resort about 3:30 p.m., but that's really a rough trip.
This time we're leaving Saturday, stopping overnight at our half-way point, Hillsville, Virginia. We figure if we leave the Hillsville hotel early a.m., we can be in HH by lunchtime, check in and head to the pool or beach, etc while we wait for the room to be ready.

Looking forward to saying Hi to Scootersmom and CInderella97... and of course Tiffany123 and mtdewhead...

Oh and the PINK is more likepink it faded last weekend while I ran an art fair....

Fun Day sounds Hanname! But the whole garage sale thing right before vacation is a little to much stress for me :rotfl2: We are having a garage sale end of this month, when my mind is clear and I can focus again!

I am almost done packing.... I will shower tonight and pack that stuff up, and I must figure out my shoe situation... want to bring 7 pairs... only room for 3. :teeth:

I will prepack some of the snacks tonight and the cold stuff in the AM. Not only do we have a 2 hour flight, but we have a 4 hour drive following that. We are nuts!! No wait... We are Hanname!!! (sung to the tune of.. We are Family... I got all my sisters and me....) Unfortunatley this means we are lugging around an extra bag of kid occupiers. :sad2:

The weather doesnt scare us. We are ready for anything!!

Okay, my break is over...

Me three!

Wow, Fun Day and a garage sale, plus packing for vacation! You must have a lot of energy, that's all I can say.

I have about half of our packing done. My parents got in this afternoon from Florida on their way north for the summer. They're staying till we leave Sat. a.m. I told them they could stay longer... we'd just give them a house key, but we're leaving! :rotfl:
We had some of the kids/grandkids over for a cookout tonight, the rest will visit tomorrow sometime.

DS had last day of school today.

I have a class for work tomorrow afternoon, but only for an hour.

Safe travels, everyone!

Do you know the way to Hanname (San Jose)... this keeps running through my mind!

Laurabearz-How's HHI? Been watching the weather channel and Tropical Storm Arlene.

Fun day was Hanname!! Hot, Hot, Hot, 91 here in Michigan! Finished setting up for the garage sale. Another hot day. I wish I had the energy!

Finally started packing today too. Not sure what all to bring, since we are flying. Usually we drive for vacation. So I'm trying to pack extremely light. But that is not the case what so ever. I can be shoe happy too! :teeth:

Colleen sounds like you certainly do have a house full with visitors!

See you soon~ :goodvibes :flower:

Hey everyone!! LIVE FROM HILTON HEAD ISLAND!!!

The drive went smoothly! NO stops. Just plowed thru. I gotta say... the folks in GA drive FAST. Whew.... I was going 75 and the flow of traffic was closer to 85. There was a couple of work areas, but only one where people were working. Traffic slowed to a turtles pace of 70 in work zones. So we left JAX at 2 and got to check in at 5:08. I was hoping for a more scenic drive, but it was all 3 lane highway with tall trees on both sides. The occasional bridge, and marshy areas, but no coastline. But that is the price you pay for taking the hwy.

A quick dip in the pool and we went back to the room for diiner then the campfire.

I ran in to MSH1420 tonight after the campfire. Chatted a bit, but my kids were bonkers (been a long travel day) So we turned in early... DD 6 and DS 2 are STILL up (Boy napped 2 times today so I expect him to be up for a while yet, but DD6 SHOULD be zonked... ahhhh to have her energy!

We have a lovely Marsh view and love the 2 bedroom, 1st floor, right near the pool. Love it!

Gregor ran the campfire tonight and he remembered us from last year! He even remembered our last name (which is 11 letters long and very polish) I love listening to him talk... he is from Scotland. This place feels like home. I am still amazed he remembered us.

CAMPFIRE TIP... arrive early and check wind direction! I also suggest bringing a pot holder!!

The Boy is a handful. Last year he was much more managable, but at 2... well he can run fast. I perdict major skinned knees from running full speed down the pier. As of this moment.. a leash sounds really good. ;)

Okay.... off to catch up on Hanname.....

We're on our way! We're at a hotel in Virginia and will hit the road early tomorrow a.m. for HHI.

Can't wait to get there and hope we can meet up with our fellow DVC DISers.

cinderella97-- You're so right, we had a full house. Had both the grown kids and their spouses, three of the grandkids plus my parents there last night. Good thing I had most of our packing done 'cause there was no way I could focus on it!

Felt so sorry for the 3yo granddaughter., but I guess not sorry enough to actually bring her! When she heard vacation, she thought we were going to WDW and, boy did she want to come with us, even though they were just there in May. Then she thought the beach sounded fun too. We said if either parent wanted to toss the girls into their car and come, they were welcome, but we weren't up for taking her this time. Bad Grandma!

Laura-- Sounds like your family is having a great time.

See you soon!
