Hi everyone!

I'm currently planning a trip to WDW for me and my 8 year old...it's our first time there and sadly I'm WAY more excited than he is! We're not leaving for another month but I want to pack NOW!

The hotel I've booked provides breakfast, plus there's a microwave, small fridge, and a coffee maker in the room. I'd like to make use of those to save as much money as possible, and other than regular grocery items I was wondering if anyone knew of any grocery stores that have salad and/or hot food bars? We're staying in the in the Sea World/Univ. Studios area with a car, so anything within a few miles is fine.

Also, I was considering taking some food with us since we're driving, but being as I'll be going to a grocery store anyway should I even bother?

Thanks in advance!
Christine

I'm sorry I dont know the area, but you have a wonderful idea. Thanks!! Salad bars have so many good veggies cut up, that filling a "plate" with veggies and picking up some ranch dressing will make for great snacks. Thanks fo rhte ren=minder. Also, most pizza places(here anyway) have salad bars "to go" also. This is usually a set price, and not a price per pound. Not sure which way would be better.

I'm leaving in 18 days, and I'm already too excited to sleep! Why aren't my kids this escited? :confused3

The only place I know (and I live on Kirkman about two miles North of Universal) is an Albertson's in a shopping center at the Northeast corner of Vineland Road and the Conroy-Windermere Road. Basically it is about 1/2 mile East of the Windemere city limits. Also, they charge over $5.00 per pound.

Not a grocery store, but there is a Sweet Tomatoes on the corner of I-Drive and Kirkman. not sure if you are familiar with those but they are one giant salad bar and have a hot bar(soups, baked potatoes, etc) too(not like Ryans). I am sure you could do a take out? They are pretty cheap..6 bucks a person maybe and they always have coupons in those guide/tourist books.

Sweet Tomatoes sounds pretty good...and that'd be cool if you could do take-out. I was hoping that some of the buffet type places would...I know up here in VA they do.

The $5/lb for the salad bar might not be too bad if I get the salad dressing separate.

Thanks for the info!
