I'm seriously considering attending the Candlelight Processional at Epcot on Monday, the 3rd of December before leaving for home on the 4th. http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/family/crying.gif
I remember that last year the CP really put me in the Christmas spirit, after having lost my dad around Christmastime the previous year.
Anyway, would anyone like to join me? The 3rd seems to be the only night I have free......

::sneaking online:: Shhhh, DH will be home any minute with the kids...so I have to hurry. I told him I wasn't going to get back online until after everyone goes to bed....oops, I fibbed!
I just have to ask really fast! What time is CLP? Is it possible to fit it in on Saturday night between dinner and the dessert party?
Okay, I'll be back later........ :bounce:

::looking at itinerary::
I think that might be a real stretch Tia. Dinner at 5, Candlelight at the American Adventure theater around 6:30, and the dessert party at 8:30?
Put on them running shoes. :D

Hey Steve!
I think this is doable (well, I hope there is such expression). I believe we can reach the American Adventure in 10 minutes. And there would be lots of time to get to the dessert party.
Well, I don't know if would be able to get good places to see then...:(

::thinking:: ((something is burning  )) LOL :D
Okay, I have to re-think this. I don't think DD would want to say good-bye to WDW in EPCOT...she's my Magic Kingdom pal. :D We like to wave good-bye and good-night to our castle and then drop our heads in sorrow and leave the park. :(
Dagnabit! Not enough days.....that's all! There's just not enough darn days! :(

:( Gosh Steve, I just read all about this CLP on another thread (the one you wrote) and I just can't believe how wonderful and beautiful this sounds! :) I need to figure out HOW and WHEN to do this...because I definitely want to take full advantage of the Holiday festivities....all the other stuff will still be there when I return during other times in the year. :D :D :D
I've never done the CP. Mainly because I didn't ever have time to fit it in. The only night I have available right now is Dec. 3. I'll have to think about this. Tia, I know what you mean about saying goodbye at the MK. Make sure you stay for the "kiss good night". That seems to me to be a fitting way to end a WDW vacation. Mmmmmmmm, now that I think about it, maybe I don't have the 3rd open. Maybe I need to be at the MK that night. Oh, now I gotta think.

Steve - I was thinking CP on the 3rd also. Personally, I prefer the last show so that it's dark. Do you want the dinner package, or just to attend the show? The only problem with doing the package as a group is that the person making the reservation pays for everyone at that time.
Viewing the CP can be done between dinner and Illuminations on Saturday, but you won't get a good seat.

I'm thinking that December 3rd is the most feasible for me. And I agree, it needs to be dark out. In between last night and this morning, I've put the CP on my "must do" list. It really helped my spirits last year.
And I'm thinking about doing the dinner package. However, each person or family can charge their own tickets. All you have to do at time of purchase is specify what "tier" of restaurant you want to go to. Once that's decided, we can make a PS for dinner depending on the size of the group or whatever. I'm going to call Disney today (again....they're beginning to recognize my voice) and get all the specifics as far as pricing and times of performances, and then I'll post them here.

Here's the scoop on the Candlelight Processional.
It runs every night from November 23rd through December 30th.
Showtimes are 5:00, 6:45 and 8:15pm. The show runs approximately 1 hour.
Ticket prices include a reserved area for the CP and dinner (appetizer, main course, dessert) and are in two categories, depending on the restaurant.
Tier 1: $42.50 + 6% tax for adults; $10.50 + 6% tax for children 6-11 years of age.
Restaurants: Alfredo's, San Angel Inn, Chefs de France, the Japan restaurant (don't ask me to spell it), and the Canadian steakhouse.
Tier 2: $32.50 + 6% tax for adults; $10.50 + 6% tax for children 6-11 years of age.
Restaurants: Biergarden, Garden Grill, 9 Dragons, Marrakesh (Morocco)
It is up to the indivdual or group to make the appropriate PS for the restaurant of choice.
I'm open to any restaurant, really, if people want to join me, let me know!
The CM had no information on when tickets are going on sale, but I think it's going to be Monday.

Hmmm...unless things have changed, they charge your credit card right away for the number of people in your group - at least in previous years when I made reservations (and cancelled them).
I think they need to know the number of people in your group when you reserve, because that's how they know which dinner and show times are available.
Wow- Marrakesh is in the cheaper category this year- cool! I'd like to try that....plus - I'm cheap! Was Akershus (Norway) in the Tier 2 group? I wish they would quote the prices WITH the 6& tax included.

So, my way around that. Each person or family buys their own tickets. We make a PS at a restaurant for how many people we need. Inside the theater, people can sit where they want in the roped-off area for those who paid. Or am I missing something?
Oh, I think I know what you're saying Nancy. I'm sure they keep track of the number of people that have reservations for any given show time. But it shouldn't matter if we split that group up as individuals or families, just as long as we all get into the same show.
NancyIL

You make the PS at the time you reserve the package. I guess we'll find out soon enough how they handle the PS/payment questions!
If each family/small group orders their own CP package, then there is no guarantee that we'll all be eating at the same time or even at tables near each other. Since I'll be solo at that point, I don't want a table for 1!
disneycub
08-09-2001, 11:35 AM
Tier 1 restaurants with tax: $45.05 Children $11.13
Tier 2 restaurants with tax: $34.45 Children $11.13
These prices also include the gratuity.
The woman I spoke to was going off last year's list of restaurants, so I have the feeling that Morrocco should be in the Tier 1 catagory like it was last year. Also I could have missed some of the restaurants she listed, because some of them (like Norway) are missing.
Ok, looks like I'm in for this, too. I guess we can decide which tier we want and then pick from one of those restaurants. Have we decided how to handle the ticket/PS thing? Like Nancy said, I wouldn't want to have to sit off alone somewhere because they put us all at tables for one. But, also don't want to have someone else put my charge on their credit card, just in case I screw something up. As far as the restaurants go, we can eliminate France, as we're eating there for the dining around the world. I like Mexico, Canada, and Japan. I've never done Italy or Morocco. So, I'm flexible on this, too.

Ok, I finally got a hold of a supervisor at Disney. When CRO takes your reservation for the Candlelight Processional, they will only ask you what Tier of restaurant you want to go to and charge you accordingly. They will not make the PS for you. We have to do that ourselves, separately.
So if we decide we want to, for instance, go to Canada, I would call up, and order my Tier 1 Candlelight Processional ticket for $45 or whatever. Each person would do the same, and be responsible for their own charges. When that is done, we call Disney Dining and make a PS for the group for whatever restaurant and time we want, telling them that we have tickets for the Candlelight Processional.
Piece of cake, except for figuring out which restaurant and time we want to go.
I vote for Canada going to the 8:15 show...but of course am flexible.

Bitter Sweet.....Reality sets in. DS and I could probably do the CLP on Thurs. night while all the  ones are doing ToT :) :) :) but I don't think we, as a family, can make it on the 3rd. :( :( :(
Oh well, at least I found a spot in my itinerary. :D :D :D

Thanks for the clarification, Steve. That's a different policy from previous years. I guess it's just a matter of us getting a group together to eat at the restaurant(s) of choice.
I believe Rose and Crown was in the less expensive category in previous years, and Marrakesh was more expensive.

I just called Disney Dining to see if they had any more info, and found out that there are THREE tiers for the dinner packages this year.
The buffet restaurants are the least expensive at $25.95/$10.95 (plus 6% tax): Akershus (Norway); Biergarten (Germany) and Garden Grill (Land).
At $32.95/$10.95 are San Angel (Mexico); Marrakesh (Morocco); Nine Dragons (China); and Rose and Crown (United Kingdom).
Chefs de France (France); Le Cellier (Canada); Alfredo's (Italy); and Teppanyaki (Japan) are $39.95/$10.95 - a decrease from previous years. How about that: something that DECREASED in price at WDW!
The 15% Epcot merchandise discount is still included, as well as free parking. The CP packages will NOT be available on Sunday, Dec. 2nd.

:) Thanks for all of the info. Nancy. :)
I am a little confused  though about how this works. Do you go to your respective restaurant, eat, and then watch the parade from your dinner seats? Or do you go somewhere else to see the show? Or am I completely lost?

The Candlelight Processional is a concert at the America Gardens Theater. You have a PS time for your dinner, as well as a definite time for the show. You can eat before or after the show - depending on what time slots are available.
Those who purchase the dinner package get preferred seating (up close and covered). You also get a 15% discount on most merchandise purchased at Epcot the day of your package.
Here's a link for more info: http://www.wdwig.com/h_cpfaq.htm
The prices listed have not been updated for 2001.

Wow, I've never heard of any prices going DOWN at Disney World. I thought that putting the Mexican restaurant in the higher tier was pushing it just a wee bit.
Thanks for getting all the current info, Nancy. So, Barb....Nancy....what do you two want to do? Which restaurant, which show? I'll go with whatever you ladies would like to do. How's that?

My personal preference is for the last CP show - as it's the darkest.
I'd like to try some place where I've never eaten before, such as Rose and Crown, Marrakesh, San Angel (though we eat a lot of Mexican food at home), or Teppanyaki. I like Le Cellier, but I've eaten there several times, and I plan to choose France as my pre-Illuminations dessert party restaurant. I'm not interested in Nine Dragons (mediocre Chinese food from what I've read) or the buffets (though my family likes Akershus).
It would be great if we all agreed on a restaurant, but if not - there's no reason we couldn't split up into several groups and eat at different restaurants. I just don't want to eat alone!
If you save all your Epcot shopping for the day of the CP - you could almost pay for your dinner with the 15% merchandise savings! :)

How's about we try Japan (Teppanyaki) for dinner around 6:00 pm and the 8:15 Candlelight? That way if we want to get our CP tickets on Monday or whenever they go on sale, we'll know which way we're going......
Thoughts? http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/family/baby11.gif
I think it would be a great way to end a wonderful vacation.....
Steve, I like the idea of Japan. We just ate there for the first time on our last trip and put it on our have to go back list. So, that sounds good to me! Are we trying for tickets on Monday along with MVMCP tickets, then? I have an AP, and the DC card. Which gets me a better deal?

I'm going to try to do both events on Monday, Barb, but will have to see how it goes with CRO. Since I've got the AP and DC cards too, I'll just ask them which one has the biggest discount, and use that. The CM who gave me all the wrong information the first time told me there were no discounts, but I seem to remember that there were plenty of them last year.
So, like, what to obsess about next? Oh that's right, Mac-key is doing a mini-meet list over the weekend. That should keep me busy for awhile after she's done. Or I could arrange my spices by genus and phylum...... :D

AP holders saved $1 plus tax on MVMCP tickets last year. When I called about ticket prices today, I was told there were NO discounts this year. Guess we'll find out soon enough!
Teppanyaki sounds good! I almost ate there on my birthday in April, but the person I was hanging out with didn't like "ying-yang" food! How are the desserts there?
Umm...should ONE of us make the PS for 6:00 for 3 (or however many of us there will be)?

Since I had nothing to do this morning (or at least nothing I wanted to do), I went ahead and called Disney Dining this morning and made a PS for Teppenyaki on December 3rd at 6:00pm for 6 people. At least it's on the books, and we can add or subtract from there.
So far at the table I have me, Barb, NancyIL and Ray Sharpton.
I'll PM each of you with the PS number and details once I find the piece of paper I wrote the information on (bad grammar.....but it's early).

Steve - I called Disney Dining again - after reading on Deb Wills site - www.wdwig.com - that the CP packages were now available. They were NOT available for sale, and the CM could only find the two-tier prices ($32.50/$42.50) and not the ones I was told yesterday. He said the $25.95/$32.95/$39.95 were listed as TICKET prices for the Night of Joy - and were directly underneath the CP info on the CM's computer screen! I don't know WHAT to think now! UGH!!!
If they are still on the 2-tier system - I think I'll be looking for a dining buddy at Rose and Crown!

Nancy, I had the shrimp and chicken at Teppanyaki. It was very good. But, I think I want to try the shrimp and scallops or the shrimp, scallops, and lobster the next time. I guess we'll have to keep trying as far as the CP tickets go. When we call for MVMCP tickets, we can ask about the CP tickets, too. We're going to the 8:15 show, right? Do we tell them we already have the PS at Teppanyaki?

Steve, I called a 2nd time this morning! I got someone from the Walt Disney Travel Company and not Disney Dining - so maybe they are really clueless! I DO know that the woman I talked to yesterday (who told me about 3 price levels) knew about the merchandise discount, that free parking was included, and that Dec. 2nd was blocked. (Night of Joy is in September.)On the other hand - it WOULD be unusual for Disney to LOWER the price on the top tier from $42.50 to $39.95.
I apologize if I've led you all astray. :(

Not to worry, Nancy! I can't count how many times I've been "led astray" by CMs. I can't imagine being on the phone 8 hours a day looking at a computer screen. One or the other, sure...but not both, so I can KINDA understand.
If CP tickets go on sale Monday, we're doing the 8:15pm showing of CP on December 3rd, and just ask for the Tier wherever they put Teppanyaki this time. Tell them we've already made our PS, if they ask.
