A good friend of mine travel a lot on business and usually flies out of BWI, but he has flown out of National too. He reports that airport parking at BWI is $30 per day!!!!!! National is not quite that high, but that just seems absurd to me. Is that price common everywhere? I cannot believe that I'll have to pay nearly $225 to park the car for a week!??? Please someone tell me that there is another alternative.

Your friend parks in the most expensive lot at the airport! There are satellite lots that cost $7/day with the seventh day free. There is also a new satellite lot that is $4/day. Check out the BWI website.

so he doesn't pay at all. I guess in a way WE do. There's our tax money at work!

Glad to hear there are cheaper alternatives.

Check ou a rental car. Thats what we did last year and are doing again this year. Even with the drp off fee for us, if you live near BWI and can pick up and return there it is less cost, it is still cheaper than paying to park for our 13 day trip, plus you don't have tp worry about your car.

We are not federal employees....and have always parked in the satellite parking for much cheapers (can't remember now, but it's about $5-7 a day)...You have to take a shuttle from the parking lot, so allow plenty of "travel time" to get from your car to your airplane!!!

I think I paid about $6/day last time I parked there. A couple of alternatives to parking there: There are a few hotels near BWI that offer a "park and fly" program, where if you stay one night at the hotel you can leave your car there free for your whole trip. Also, BWI is served by SuperShuttle, which will come pick you up at home and take you to the airport for a reasonable price.
