Hi, well I have finally decided this is the way of eating for me. I have a underactive thyroid and have heard this diet is perfect for us. I can deal with lunch and dinner but breakfast I am stumped. I don't want eggs cause I have incorporated them into my lunch. What else can I have. I have always had oatmeal, I am a creature of habit so could easily eat the same thing every day......but help need breakfast ideas??? :goodvibes

Thanks :grouphug:

I'm a big egg fan and that's what I have just about each morning.

What about whole wheat cereal and 1/2 grapefruit? I also love cottage cheese and have for lunch some days (like today) but couldn't you have some cottage and cut up fresh fruit for breakfast? I am assuming were talking Phase 2 here because you can't have the fruit or whole wheat on phase 1.

I hope this helps!

I ate black beans or cannellini beans with salt and pepper.

Most beans without added sugar are allowed.

I don't eat eggs, but do eat egg whites...so that helped for me to alternate the days.

Beans are good especially if you plan to exercise as you will need the carbs and they are a good source of carbs in Phase I.

I missed my fruit--so I would eat a tomato like a piece of fruit.

I think we also had some V-8 as well for breakfasts.

I am a runner now--so beyond Phase I--you can eat these, but perhaps in reduced amounts.

I have whole wheat english muffins with Earth Balance Spread (butter type product) and egg whites with salt and pepper---oh my gosh they are sooooo good....and a quite heatlthy and SBD legal alternative to an Egg McMuffin.

When I am doing higher mileages I do eat whole wheat bagels.

Thomas's makes both of these and I am able to get them in my regular grocery store.

For purposes of SBD--when you reintroduce fruit, it is best to wait until lunchtime or later in the day to have fruit..in the mornings it will be like you are eating a candy bar and you could end up ravenous all day as a result.

Just realized--you can also have a salad for breakfast with some low-fat turkey bacon or eggs for protein or low fat cheese or low fat lunch meat.

Breakfast doesn't have to be typical breakfast fare :)
