I just called to book our room for Oct 28 & 29. They did not have any Ent rates (they never do) and they did have AP rates out but they seems kind of high to me.
RPR--Rack rate garden view: $224 AP: $202
HRH--Rack rate garden : $249 AP: 224
A $22 to $25 discount?? Thats it? I have always had great AP rates but this year they seem not very good at all. Last June we paid $202 for club level at RPR, this time its $287 :confused3

i booked my stay for the second weekend in october at hrh.
using the AAA rate only because the fan club and ent rates have not been released yet.
the gal at the other end of the phone said to call back in a couple of weeks to see if they have been released yet.
if anyone else out there has more info, please let us know.
this is my 5th year in a row going there at hrh and this year has the highest rates for october yet for us.

AAA Rates....Oct 27, 28 and 29....HRH $225, RPR $179.20 and Portofino $227.30...but, the Portofino AAA rates are gone...
Also, the lady I talked to told me that entertainment rates will be only for more than 4 nights stays

forgot to list this 411
oct 7-8-9-
AAA $224 /night (+tax)
no discounts $249 / night (+tax)
i talked to universal resort bookings and they told me on friday 3/4 that the ent and fan club rates have not been released yet for october.
i was told to book my room now and i can modify it later when rates come out.
either way, i am going for hhn and need a room on site. if i don't get any discounts, i live with what i have now.
the stay for 4 nights was an option for me but it is based on double occupancy and i am going solo. i cut my time back to 3 from 4 as there was no advantage to staying longer

Well the RPR AAA rate is pretty good but the HRH AAA is right about the same as the Passholder rate. We didnt get to go last Oct but I had made a ressie at RPR because I was hoping we could go and the rate I got then was $129 and now this year $202. Thats quite an increase.

don't lose hope on the AAA rates...I was debating which hotel to book with the AAA rate and all of a sudden the Portofino AAA rate disappeared...but was available again within a few days

I also got the $129 rate last October but I'm fairly positive I did not book until June/July. Right now the $179 AAA rate is the best. We also go for HHN and usually only stay one night but it's worth it. I'll most likely book with the AAA rate in May and keep checking for the AP rate to descrease.

I booked 10/7 - 10 at PBH - 2 std rooms @ 227.- AAA - one is upgraded to deluxe thru Loews Gold. Looks like they're not offering APH rates this year until much closer to check in.

i booked at hrh on 3/4 and used the AAA for the 224 rate per night.
i also have the loews gold card but was told the oct 7-8 are blocked out for any benefits and only oct 9 would i receive any loews benefits, such as the welcome gift.
i don't get it. :confused3
and you are already being upgraded??? they told me i could only get the upgrade based on my loews gold card was for oct 9, like i said, other dates are blacked out.

I booked back in January - checked my e-mail confirmation and it definitely states 1 2Q deluxe and 1 2Q GV - both at 227.20 AAA rate. Maybe once they have rented out all the deluxe rooms, they stop giving the upgrades - not sure, as I'm new to gold, but that's what I would assume. I'm sure there's always some 'small print' somewhere that contradicts what they tell you - called Loew's L'enfant in DC for a weekend trip and was told they were sold out - told her that I was a Gold member and my letter states "you are guaranteed to have a room waiting for you at any Loews Hotel ... with just 48 hours notice" - didn't matter - still sold out  !
I wouldn't want to move to another room just for my last night - that makes no sense (IMHO)!!! If I end up paying the AAA rate, I will certainly expect to get my welcome gift - but you only get that once anyway ! :smooth:

I have PBH Gardenview Oct 3, 4, and 6. $184 first 2 nights, $287 last night. This is with APH rate.
I may switch to HRH Deluxe for a few bucks more, and get the pullout sofa instead of renting a rolloway (5 people).

Oh yes they will be fine. I cant remember for sure if its a full or queen but I lean toward queen. I slept on it with one of my youngest sons and I dont think 2 young girls will have any problems on it.

we are staying at RPR 10/17-10/24 we got an AAA rate with the Loews upgrade for 179 per night(tax not included) for a waterview room. If your booking through Universal reservations try booking with Loews directly. Every year we call Universal and they tell us no upgrades available. This year we decided to book with Loews and had No problems!! With the AAA discount you are still entitled to getting the free cookies, etc upon checkin per loews. Every year we check in they tell us we are not able to get these because of the AAA discount. Not true!!

I've looked at all the codes I know and they don't get better. Oct is so bad becuase of HHN, things get booked very quickly. Keep checking and you are likely to see it go down.
Do you have to stay Club level or at the Portofino? I looked at the Hard Rock for those dates and you could get a Garden view for $224 and Pool view for $242 - club was $314.

I wanted the PBH because I stayed at the HRH last year. RPR was not available at all. I don't necessarily need club level but thats the lowest available that came up under PBH.
Do you think the prices will drop as it gets closer or no way?

Historically they have dropped but HHN gets so much bigger each year and more people stay so it's really hard to tell. Maybe book Hard Rock as well while you can and then decide closer to. You'll have 5 days prior to cancel.

book at hrh for oct 23-7...........i wish you luck.
i know the first and second weekend is sold out at hrh.
i tried to book a room for a cousin and only the sunday 10/9 is open as of today.
when you get closer to the end of hhn, it is packed.
you could call frequently and try to catch a cancellation at hrh if thats where you want to be.

It was available when I quoted the $224 for Garden View earlier. Also about HRH in October, they will not book any 1 night stays. Go to the website and play around. I called and spoke with reservations and they confirmed.

Maybe they are just doing no weekend one-nighters. That's what I was inqiring about when I spoke to them last week and perhaps she just generalized her statement. For ex. I was looking at staying 10/1 but I can't book that, I could book 9/30 & 10/1 or 10/1 & 10/2.

Thank you so much. This is what they told me too. They weren't to forthcoming with the info, but they finally told me that it expired early Oct. I got $179 APH rate at HRH(4nights) and then $179.20 AAA for RPH(4nights). Airfare is cheap but I had to extend my trip to get it. So now I have to stay 8 nights. So every little bit helps. Now I have to work on passes. Thanks for everyones help.
PS I could stay at HRH for the whole stay but the rate goes up to $209. Do you think it is worth it to stay the whole time or will it be a nice change to move to the RPH? I have only stayed at the Portofino. so I am anxious to see the others. I hope it isn't to much of a hassle to move.

i think you will really love the resturants at rph.
the breakfast buffet is very good.
hrh is where i always stay but i think the kitchen could be better.
the ice cream and coffee shop are great but i want food and don't care for the prices at the kitchen.
do both hotels, you might find out which on site hotel you prefer after the 8 day stay.
pbh is great which you already know since you have been there before.
the prices you have for the other two hotels are good. do a split stay.

That was my feeling too. I guess I will leave things the way they are and split the stay. The only thing that worried me was that the room was smaller at RPH. But it will be ok.

you are correct on that.
the room at rph is smaller than hrh.
i visited my cousin over at the rph last year. hrh was sold out and he could only get rph due to a late cancellation of somebody.
it is done up in darker colors and it reminded me of a disney layout the way the bathroom was done up.
hrh has a different layout and somewhat larger.
i have stayed at hrh 7 times and pbh 1 time.

Do you think the size is a large difference? I've stayed at neither or any onsite resorts, but was going to stay at RPR. Is the size between the two that big? or just something small?
macraven
08-05-2005, 06:51 PM
at the rph, it reminds of the size at disney's all star sports.
walk into the room (standard room ) bathroom on right.
staight ahead two beds, tv, etc.
room in darker colors which makes it appear smaller than other rooms.
at hrh, standard room, more of a hallway....one side closet length of hallway, slider glass doors, safe inside closet.
bathroom on other side, had sink in there, nice size bathroom.
another sink in foyer area outside bathroom with hairdryer on wall.
two queen beds, round table, two stuffed chairs, stuffed reliner with standing pole light, dresser, tv, etc....
if you go to the hotel website, it lists the sq footage of the three hotel rooms.
i have a standard room for a couple of nights at hrh and think it is 375 sq ft.
then i switch to a deluxe room and it is 500 sq ft.
i think rph is 325 sq ft. don't remember would have to check the loews site to be sure.
the rph is very nice.....fantastic lobby area, and dining areas.
wonderful lounge/sitting area that looks out to the park and it is huge.
hrh does not have anything like that. theirs is small compared to rph.
you will love rph if this is the first time you are staying on site.
i like the hrh for a few reasons. don't know if the short cut is still open or not. last year it was locked except for employees entrance due to clean up from the last hurricane.
if it is two people in your room at rph, you will have plenty of room.
think it would be crowded if you did 5 people and had a roll away put in there.
Foladar
08-05-2005, 06:55 PM
Yeah, just checked ..
335 sq ft for RPR and 375 for HRH .. though I don't know how much of a difference that would be, I guess RPR is good since we're just going to be sleeping there.
macraven
08-05-2005, 07:04 PM
foladar, you will really like rph.
it will be plenty of room for two people.
i'm sure you will do like i do, use the room to sleep and bath and that's about it.
look at all the people that stay at allstars at disney and those rooms are about 240 or 260 sq ft. people put 4 in those rooms. they manage fine.
take the boat taxi to the parks.
the walk could take you about maybe 10 minutes .
the bus i took twice all the way around as i wanted to see the fronts of all the on site hotels. took me 35 minutes to get back to hrh. that was really stupid of me and i will never do that again.....it took too much time from rides.

The size of the RPR didnt bother us at all. Of course the deluxe room HRH is a bit roomier its not a huge difference.
Now if you get a roll away bed for the 5th person that take up the exta space in the room.
As to the theme's of the resorts the RPR is my favorite. I love the pool area too. My teens like the HRH best.
