I've been going out every day to see if the prices for my Aug. 11 - 17 trip are any lower than the $128 (which includes taxes) I got a few weeks ago. Imagine my shock when I went out there today and checked the same dates with the same codes, and the price came up to about $230! Wow, am I glad I made my reservations when I did!

Does it normally go up substantially the closer you get to the day? That's the only explanation I could come up with.

I don't know the answer to your specific question but I did notice that when I rescheduled my plane trip for 5 days later and had to change my National reservation it went up by $20 dollars. Not the same as your fluxuation but still disappointing to me!!

Same here Izzy. We're renting Aug 11 - 20 for $175 and hasn't gone down at all. My guess is that it has become very busy there, especially with free PR they get from this boad, and their prices are reflecting an increase in reservations. Also, car rates in general are up for August. I predict increased crowds in Aug over July.

I just checked my rates again tonight and it has jumped up an additional $15 or so. So it has gone from $124 to $141 to $157 total and I expect it to continue to rise.

my rate of 141.50 (includes all taxes and fees) for a full 8 day rental of a compact
car for 8/26-9/2 has stayed exactly the same for about 1 month. I check every week
my rate was using a coupon for 1 free weekend day and dc discount.

My EA rental came down $10 when I tried it again yesterday.
For 8/26-9/2, with taxes and all charges it comes to $134 :)
I am very happy with that but will keep trying to do better.

Thats the same dates I am renting, is yours cheaper because
you are dropping off earlier on 9/2? I am not dropping mine off
until about 7 pm that night, mine was for a compact car.
