View Full Version : How many points does it "cost"?

The point calculator seems to be missing in action.

I'm trying to figure out if the DVC would be a wise purchase for my wife and I (it's just the 2 of us).

We usually stay off site.

I know the minimum points purchase is 150 (@$75).

What can we get for that?

Thanks,
John and Donna

Just a quick example...for our 150 points at OKW, we're getting a 1 bedroom for my family from Aug. 17th - 24th, and a 1 bedroom for my brother's family from Aug 19th - 24th. Of course that includes borrowing from next year's 150 points....

We also managed to bring down my husband's whole family for Feb. vacation week 2 years ago using our 150 points, banking from the previous year and borrowing from the next year, we got two 2 bedrooms for ... umm, I think a 7 day visit for the 14 of us?? Don't hold me to that, it might have been 5 or 6 days, but I think we were there the whole week.

We find that with banking and borrowing, we are never short of what we want...not that we're not considering buying more points, we are, but the 150 is a perfect fit for us at this point.

9 days till we're home again, why does it feel like it'll never get here!?!? :)

Here is site with point charts for all the sites:

Generally 150 points would get you 8 days or more in a studio most times of year but only about 5 days in a 1BR.

With just two of you ( at the moment) a studio is going to be enough for your needs on your own. With the exception of Premium season that would be enough for 11 nights accomodation in one use( with only one weekend). If you were frugal and avoided week ends you should be able to get at least 3 breaks of 5 nights staying in a studio. When your family grows or you wanted to bring friends/relatives you could have a 5 day break in a 2 bedroom ( sleeps 8) and still have enough points left for a 3/4 day break for the two of you. It's a very flexible plan and a lot depends on the size of accomodation you want and if you can work around weekends.

The best thing to do IMHO would be to get the "official" information bumph that the DVC will send out and to take the tour on your next visit. I'm sure they'll be more questions in the future LOL

Thanks all for the information. I will give them a call.

BTW, is there a FAQ on the acronyms used around here? I can figure some out but others I haven't a clue!!!

Here is the link to this site's abbreviations list. Not all that might be used are there but it is a useufl list.
