Isn't this the same as the buzz light year ride at WDW? Looks like you have to be 42" to ride at all. I am confused, my ds, 36", loved the buzz ride and I heard they are the same.

MIB spins a lot more (and faster) than Buzz Lightyear. You're right in that they are both interactive rides, but MIB is a bit more intense and adult oriented than Buzz.

Also, theme parks don't set height restrictions. Those are set by the ride manufacturer.
And yes for the record, it is NOT ANYTHING LIKE Buzz Lightyear.
The only similarity is that there's a score. Even the gun system is different.
There are several instances where you spin very suddenly and quickly. The height restriction is valid.

Buzz Lightyear: Your vehicle has doors that close on the side and you control the spin. You can easily hold your child close. The enemies/aliens are also more "cutesy". Bags can be placed on the floor of the car.
MIB: Individual lap restraints. Bags are prohibited. The ride has a few fast spins. Some can be triggered by your opponents. The aliens are more scary looking and are trying to shoot at your car.
I'll stop there.
