Microsoft is recalling the power cords on all XBoxes which have manufacturing dates prior to October 23, 2003. I had no idea that there was a recall and was shocked to find out that my DS's XBox is one of the one's needing a new power cord. Here's the link to the website where you can enter your serial number and manufacture date (both can be found on the bottom of the console). Suposedly, Microsoft is very good at getting the cords out ASAP.

Now if I can just get him to stop using it unti the new cord comes.

I saw this on our local news. Good thing too because ours was one of the recalls! My power cord arrived today--it was FAST!

Got my replacement cord today. Took 3 days. Originally, I heard about the issue on the internet the other day and then shortly afterwards I received an email telling me I needed a replacement.
Quick service and peace of mind. Just make sure, you cut up the old cord and toss it out. pirate:

I just checked, ours was manufactured in 2002. We got a letter the other day but I had not read it yet. I guess I better get that fixed. Thanks!

My DH's sister's house burned down last month. Luckily, she, her husband, and the three boys escaped unharmed, but they lost practically everything.

It just so happens that the electrical circuit where the fire originated was the same circuit that the x-box was plugged in. Apparently, the kids had been playing with the x-box shortly before the fire began.

Scary coincidence? We're not sure, but with the recall information that came out last week, my MIL has contacted a lawyer.

I don't believe in many of the "crazy" lawsuits we hear about on the news (e.g. suing McDonalds over getting fat), but I do think this is a case worth investigating.

It's a real blessing that this fire started during the day and they all are alive. My little nephew keeps saying, "My house is broken."

i just received my free power cord today. I believe i ordered it last weekend so it only took a week to come.If i hadn't seen someone post something about this on a site i was on i never would have known it was a fire hazard. So thankful to people who post info like this for all of us to see.

My DS read about this on the internet last week & immediately went to the Microsoft site & filled in the form with his info. He got the replacement cord yesterday; then today, he got a letter from Xbox that told of the potential fire hazard so I guess they are alerting all registered owners. The new cord has a little box looking thing on the end with test & reset buttons like on a hair dryer.
