So it's just about closing time and we are waiting to go on Ellen's Universe of Energy. The movie with Ellen, Einstein, that woman who was in the movie with Arnold Shwarzenegger, et al. has lasted longer than expected and I suddenly have to find a bathroom... badly. The fellow who tells you not to sit (when all anyone wants to do in that room is sit), is nearby and I ask him where the nearest bathroom is. Innoventions! Now how am I going to get there and back!

Not to worry. After everyone goes into the ride, he ushers me to a secret part of the wall which pulls back to reveal a control center. There, on many screens, are images of the ride, the outside of the ride, etc. There are about half a dozen people with headsets monitoring these screens and giving out orders to cast members about paper on the floor and the like. After being assured they would hold the ride for me, I am shown to a bathroom (which is quite clean), where I do my thing all the while suspicious that I am being watched.

After that, I figure they are going to use some sort of Men In Black routine on me, so closing my eyes (and forgetting for the moment that MIB is Universal, not Disney) I yell my thank you's and race back to the ride which is indeed waiting.

I wonder why Disney hasn't tried to erase my memory, but realize why when I find out that no one in my party believes my story about the secret room with the tv screens and the wall that pulls back.

But you do, don't you?

Don't you?

I've been on the "keys to the kingdom" tour at MK, so this "back room" doesn't surprise me in the least! Cool that they let you use it! We had the same dilema when we were there. I had to go, but they were just starting to let people in when we got to the Energy pavilion, and I knew the closest restroom was Inoventions (a bit of a hike!). I just suffered and went potty after the ride.

I believe that Disney does indeed have it's own version of the Neuralizer. I just know that they can ***ZAP***

What was I just writing about?

I was at a convention and for a VIP party they held it in the Universe of Energy Ride. They used the first dinosaur room and they laid out tables and chairs where the big trams go through. It was cool eating dinner with the dinosaurs moving about. We could then walk through where the ride normally goes. Obviously the full Ellen adventure wasn't going but the dinosaurs were moving about and making the noises.

The point of this story is that for all the guests are the reception they had to provide toilet facilities. So they let us use the staff toilet, so you got to walk past their lockers and notice board.

No sign of any mysterious control room though. pirate:

I've been in the backstage areas in MGM and Epcot and it really isn't anything special. There are tunnels though that is true, but the thing is they smell like rotting food because thats what they use to transport their trash. It makes sense that these backstage areas are just mostly trailers and dumpsters, because they are backstage and where else would you put this stuff.
