We spent one night at this resort on Westwood Boulevard near I-Drive. The resort is located next to a batting cage area. Our room was located on the side of the building toward the batting area. We were about to turn infor bed and I heard aloud crash outside our window. I looked out and was able to see from the outside lighting that our minivan's window was shattered. I quickly opened the door and saw a man walking around thinking he had something to do with it. Found out he was hotel security and saw a baseball fly out of the batting cage, hit the hotel and bounce off the top balcony and fall onto our windshield. He found tha ball in the parking lot. We found out from him that this was not the first time this has happened. He assisted us in contacting the management . The next day the motel made the arrangements for our vehicle to be repaired right there and we were finally out of there by 2p.m. The motel said they would make the arrangements for the batting business to pay for the damage. Thank goodness we did not have a special time schedule to keep. We were due to check in at Old Key West Resort for the next night then leave the next day for the Disney Cruise. We were so grateful it didn't happen on the eve of the cruise. At any rate--everybody please be cautious as to any motel surroundings. We never dreamed a stray ball would have flown out of all that chain link surrounding the area.We mainly chose that motel due to a coupon special we found and just wanted an ecconomical place to sleep for the night.

What a horrible experience. Thank goodness it worked out.

I can only imagine that they are insured for something like this but it makes me wonder how much sense is it to have a batting cage that close to a parking lot..

Sounds like the motel management was very helpful. They could have forced you to deal with the batting cage company on your own. I've stayed in a couple of places in Orlando where the employees and management wouldn't even give you the time of the day.

I hope that the hotel can get something done about this batting cage. The batting cage company could at least put up a tall fence or something.

I'm glad that the hotel was so helpful at least.
